What i thought. Well, if you are talking voltage in that range you are not really talking an "e-cig" you are only talking about a mod. You can't buy what is commonly referred to as an ecig at 6v.

There is an entire section of the forum for mods. I have looked at them online out of curiosity, but they don't interest me (at this time). I watched a video on the Omega the other day for instance. Am I going to buy one? No. LOL.

It appears to me that there are a LOT of variables with mods (why they are mods) and best to research those in that forum because they are dedicated mod fanboys, lol.

Warning: If you go into the mod section EVERY person will tell you to throw your ecig in the trash and buy a Mod. Why? Because they love Mods - and why they are there, lol.

I think I'm right where you are, and I'm looking for a mod after vaping for a month. I recently got a 5v box mod and WOW! Incredible...hard to go back to my old PV after that. The amount of vapor and flavor is amazing. I haven't tried 6v, you may want to try 5v, 6 is not for everyone from what I've read, not sure if you want to fly that far so quick!

There has been someone posting recently that has a variable voltage mod and claims best thing ever invented... ha. i forget the name of it. Anyhow, Mods seem to have a zillion choices, and I think plenty of research is needed for them. Ecigs are rather simple in comparison.

I need to not fill and type... I just filled my atomizer... SOB! lol.

It seems there are large number of modders out there claiming that their mods are the greatest. But I find it hard to believe unless you're willing to throw in a thousand dollars to buy 1 of each. By then, you can tell which mod fits you best. I better start reading through forums. I want to try 5v and 6v vaping. But I still want to know the difference of 5v/6v mod and Ego. Any inputs? Much thanks.

Ok, you may want to read up on the Mega stuff. The reviews that I have read are marginal, at best. I have not tried them...

Any model is simply the battery (power) and the atomizer or cartomizer generates the type of hit. i have seen several people unhappy with their Mega EGO stuff - but again, I have not tried them.

When I first got the Mega Cylinder atty, I was disappointed. Not sure why, but it took a long time - at least half a day or more - to "break in." That is, I wasn't getting much vapor etc., kept topping off the cart. After that time period passed, it's been wonderful, much stronger flavor and more vapor than the 510 attys. I can go all day on one cart, haven't felt the need to mod the stock filler.

I actually just got a couple of new mega atty's in the mail yesterday, as I'd lost a whole Ego cig although I know it's somewhere around my house lol. I'm not sure if they changed something in manufacturing, or different supplier, but the new one I fired up did not require this extensive break in period.

Here's what I have learned with the Mega cylinders - they can be prone to leaking when filled up. I read elsewhere to keep it in filter down position while full, this helps a lot. The leaking juice will interfere with the battery connection, unscrewing it and dabbing out the excess with a tissue will restore it.

So far, the new mega atty does not seem to be leaking at all, which makes me think there may have been a change in the design.

I would suggest, make sure the connection is clean and the atty is screwed on tightly. Keep vaping it for at least several hours, making sure to keep the atty wet i.e. keep the cart topped off. The 510's came with instructions to start out with a drop of juice directly on the atty, the mega is much larger so I did 2 or 3 drops.

It is also possible that you got a defective atty, if you have only one and within the warranty period you might be able to return it. If you have a new spare, try the other one. I've had my share of bad hardware, I get everything from cignot.com and they have been excellent about replacements. Every time I've emailed, I get a response within an hour that a new one is in the mail.

In general, if you've just started vaping, it is a learning process because they don't hit like an analog cig. If you watch many of the youtube reviews, you will see that the initial "puff" is a good bit longer than what you would do with an analog. You basically fill your mouth with vapor, then suck it into your lungs. I let folks try mine, and will demonstrate this and tell them to think about sucking a thick milkshake through a straw :)

Thanks Tube. I doubt I will try them, but I like to have some understanding of things...

If a Chinese manuf. would simply call me I can resolve this entire problem rather easily - and I am a total and complete engineering tard. This is not difficult.

Make a cart that has a screen to hold a rather thin layer of filler, about 1/3 below the top of the cart - within the mold of the cart. This would allow for large amounts of liquid in the cart, small size, good and long hits. Problem solved. It is difficult for me to believe that the engineers are this stupid. I know all of this is new and all - but still.

The filler in a cart extending to the bottom of the cart serves no purpose other than making sure the filler is near the atty. Helloooo, screen molded into the cart - problem solved.

This reminds me of the story of a small boy watching engineers trying to get an 18 wheeler unstuck from the bottom a bridge and he says "why not let the air out of the tires?". Very likely a fabricated story, but same simplicity.

I just do not see how anyone educated in design not possibly see this. This is not even on the realm of genius. It is simple common sense.

Well I was mainly replying to the OP....and trying to get in my 5 newbie posts ;-)

I do love the mega cylinders, when I lost one and my spare crapped out I had to use the 510 atty for a while and it was frustrating. I'm rough as hell on ecigs, it never fails that I'll have it my pocket and be working on something and get the hot pocket. I tried the mega cartos too, being all plastic they'd melt and/or crack.

I really like the wide flat tips, the round ones don't feel right anymore. Another reason I don't like the cartos, since it's all one unit when you screw them on the button ends up in a random position. With the cart I can rotate them around, and they never melt like the 510 carts do.

I think I might have found a solution from all your posts and advice. I'm going to need to get some LR Cartomizers. Unfortunately, I ordered the regular ones a few days ago. I'll probably receive them today but I'm sure I won't notice a difference between those and my Mega Cartomizer. I'm gonna need to put in a new order for the LR 510 ones.

I'm also digging that boxmod. I might need to treat myself to that device for Christmas. That, along with a Wetbox for my all day vape.

It all boils (pun intended) down to how much power you are putting through the circuit. If you ordered your LR atty, you will increase the power going through your circuit.

More Power = More Vaporized Fluid

More Vaporized Fluid = More Flavor + More TH

Most people like the feel of 6-8 watts of power. Any less and people tend to complain about not enough TH or flavor. Any more and people tend to feel that they kill their atomizers too quickly and the vapor is too hot for them. To fall in that range, and keep the battery you already purchased, a LR atomizer is needed. There is more than one type of LR atomizer, and the main differance is the amount of resistance it provides the circuit.
Chances are you have a 3.2 Volt battery. Using P = (V^2)/R You will need a 1.5 Ohm LR atomizer.

Pairing the 1.5 Ohm Atomizer with your 3.2 Volt battery will land you at ~7 watts of power raveling through your circuit. Its right in the middle of what i think of as the "sweet spot".

Another option is to go for a 5 volt battery, and keep the atomizer(s) you already have. This will land you at ~8 watts. Its actually a little less as the 5 V batteries really arent 5 volts. This will also land you in that sweet spot, if not the high end of it.

Do not go for a LR atomizer and a 5 volt. Thats how you kill your attys.

Agreed, but i think people that like the type of hit of the KR808 are never going to like the EGO. The taste is different, in my view. I have tried the KR w/PT - I do not like it, at all. The taste is not good - to me. Others like it.

If people like the KR808, then a better option for them is the EGO version of that model. There is no question the two taste different.

The KR808D-1 passthrough is different from the KR808D-1 battery that you have. The passthrough is 5 volts, which produces more vapor, better throat hits, and more flavor than the 3.7 volt batteries, including the eGos. After about two or three days of using the KR8 passthrough, I have to take a break for a day or two, due to mouth pain from the higher voltage.

So I purchased this ridiculously high priced 808 starter kit from v2Cigs about a month ago. Unfortunately, I found this forum afterwards and immediately purchased an eGo kit about 5 days later.

Why does my USB Passthrough for my 808 cartos vape SO MUCH BETTER then my eGo?

I've tried dripping (which I enjoy at home, except when using my Mega Atomizer, that thing sucks), cartomizers and cartridges. I even ordered some 510 carto's yesterday to see if they would make a difference.

I enjoy my USB Passthrough so much more.

Are the Passthrough's putting out more juice to the carts? And by juice I mean more voltage. If that's the case, is there another device you fine folks can recommend that puts out the same voltage as the Passthrough's?

I'm still a n00b and trying to figure this stuff out without spending another small fortune on equipment.

TIA for your help...View attachment 21724

"Why does my USB Passthrough for my 808 cartos vape SO MUCH BETTER then my eGo?"

Because of the 5 volts. Higher voltage gives you more power, more THs, more vapor, and more flavor. I have both eGos and KR808D-1 PTs. For stronger hits, I use the PTs. For less mouth pain, I use the eGos.

Here's the update... I got my LR Carto's today and immediately filled them up with some Fire & Ice juice. WOW! What a difference, it's like night and day. This is what I was looking for when I purchased the eGo.

While I've been waiting for theses carto's to arrive, I've been looking at some 5v and 6v mods to purchase. I think I'll pass on that idea for now, these LR carto's give me more then enough TH and vapor.

I ordered some LR atty's today. I'm hoping I'll be able to use the ton of cartridges I have at home with the same results. Do they make Mega LR Atty's? I have a bunch of Mega Carto's, too, that are just collecting dust.

The 808, if using lower ohms cartos, work really well..like a low resistance carto..that could be what you were seeing. The boge LR carto for ur ego is pretty nice too...BUT, the top dawg when it comes to low resistance is the XL LR atty..the cylider one for ur ego. You can remove teh wick or not, and takes a couple hours to break in, but once you get the swing of it, and have teh drip tip on it, you can dump 5 drops in and have a nice long, strong vape...but for you steve, you need Low resistance.:)

Be careful using LR gear on an ego battery. It tends to burn the battery out prematurely. If you want more info read this post.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/madvapes/127262-about-low-resistance-specific-batteries.html

I don't have much money to started building my own (cheap) mods. I built a variable voltage that actually is the one that works the best. However a LR cartomizer on a true 3.7 volt pv is almost as close. Also much easier & cheaper to built a small mod at 3.7 volts.

Here is a picture of a 900mah mod I just built last night for less than $5. The clear mod I made last week for about $8.

Just be very careful with LR anything (under 2.0Ω) on your eGo. You may trip and kill your battery. Read the Scottbee's thread (linked above) for more information. I like 2.0-2.4Ω on my eGo and Riva batteries (3.1 or 3.2v).

I'm using the 2.0 versions I got from LiteCigUSA. In my future orders, I will make sure that they are at least 2.0. I've seen some advertised at 1.5-1.7. I never really knew what that was all about, until now.
