Oh, here's some advice:

• if your e-cigs are a 3 piece (batt, atty, cart) then be sure to blow your atomizers out into a paper towel first and then drip 3-4 drops of ejuice in there to re-moisten.

• it won't taste anything like you expected, but if you have an open mind you'll probably like the flavor better than your cigs.

• take long slow drags, not quick hard drags like on a tobacco smoke.

• you'll probably want to continue to smoke (it's an automatic desire that applies no reasoning) but if you vape for 10 minutes or so before grabbing up your pack of smokes then you may find that the e-cig makes you forget that you wanted to smoke.

• if you can vape and not think about smoking then your nicotine mg is good, if you vape all day but still crave a smoke all the time then you likely need a higher mg nicotine, if you vape 5 drags and feel like barfing then you likely have too high a mg of nicotine.

• don't try to keep a vaping schedule similar to you have a smoking schedule, just vape with abandon.

Good Luck! :)

I never touched a cigarette since my first e cig. Except for one time, when I was drunk on St. Patties a few days ago. My atty broke on one cig, and the other battery died on the other. I needed a cig, so i bummed one off a friend, and it tasted like crap.

The only advice I can give you is don't over fill your atomizer if you drip. lol it can get REALLY messy haha.

All good points that about have it covered, and there's a couple of things I wanna add. After you figure out your nicotine level, make sure to have juice on hand, it doesn't matter if you're doing cartomizers or a three-piece unit. Even if you prefer to use cartomizers and don't intend on refilling, nothing's more frustrating having made the switch to find out that your carts have been backordered so you'll have to go back to analogs for a few days or weeks. Think of that stash as your go-to juice; it may not be absolutely mind-blowing in flavor, but it's there to get you by.

Another thing is to get an extra battery. Most starter kits I've seen come with two. Two's good; I can vape all day on that. But I recently blew my first battery (go me!) and I'm having to hobble along on one until Smoketip sends my replacement. (Or until my extra I ordered from vapor4life comes in. I'm not picky.) That third one handy lets you keep on trucking while one's getting repaired.

Other things you may wanna consider since you're switching off of analogs is to not try to change too much at once. Do your vaping when you normally would smoke, and where you normally would. (Treat yourself with where you normally wouldn't; in my case I can now vape in my car and in the house--I didn't want either to smell like an ashtray) Also, these tend to dry you out a bit, so make sure to get more fluids--dry mouth seems to kill flavor IMO. Get a case that's about the size of a pack of smokes that will handle your gear for a day or two. I used to catch myself feeling for a pack of smokes and panicking when they weren't there.

Hmm....there's also this to consider. Juice is normally sold with a PG/VG ratio listed. If your vapes are a bit too harsh on your throat, try getting juice with more VG in it. Tends to be a little sweeter, a lot smoother, but it seems to dilute the flavor. If it's too smooth and you need something with a stronger flavor and a bit more kick (throat hit), then opt for something with more PG in it.

That's about all I've got to say about that...happy vaping!

Thanks everyone!

Looks like the package is out for delivery today, so I'm hoping to be able to get started soon.

I got the Riva 510, and will be picking up an additional battery and some extra juice soon.

Awesome! You got great advice above, not really much to add. Just order more supplies early and often!

It definitely takes a little adjusting, but it is amazing.:)

Best of luck!

Don't put too many expectations or pressure on yourself.

Even though you've read that some people didn't smoke another anolog when they got their kit, this may or may not be you. Make this a fun and enjoyable experience. Eventually you may vape simply because you like vaping better. This is true for me. I like it better.

Don't be disappointed if you dislike the juice that came with your kit. I hated mine. Try some juice samples. Figure out what type of juice satisfies your urges. Is it sweet, more like an analog? Then do a search on the board for reviews. But taste is a very subjective thing.

Don't worry about nicotine levels when you start. It doesn't matter what you smoked before or how much. The level you need is the level that keeps you from craving an analog. Better to order too high. You can always get a bottle of the same juice in a lower level and mix them together.

Good luck and have fun!

Did you get some juice to start? The amount of juice in prefilled carts does not last long (but saver the carts - they will be reused). I am still using the first cart on my fist ecig. I replaced the stuffing with blue foam a couple of times. BTW you can get precut blue foam for 510 carts at strictlyejuice.com

Smell the vapor. A lot of the "taste" of eliquid is in the aroma. 100% Chinese PG liquid (like what is probably in prefilled carts and sold in bottles by many multibrand hardware vendors) - it's fairly simplistic juice and the nicotine in 100% PG base can be a bit harsh (PG does little to buffer it), and the aromas are not complex. But even with them, remember to let some vapor escape your mouth so you nose can catch it on the inhale. You are used to be covered in aroma by cigs but ecigs need to you to let your nose have some.

Manual batteries - to get the best vapor, press in a bit earlier than your drag starts and let up a bit earlier than your drag ends.

A must have - at least 1 spare atty, preferably 2. And as someone else mentioned - if you like it, a 3rd battery is a good idea (and I actually leave my ecig setup overnight while the other 2 batteries charge - I found it more like cigs to just have it always be there and not be disassembled at night!).

Things to consider getting
drip tip!
cartomizers (took me a while to finally try them and I love them) - Try the Boge soft-cap ones and with Riva you can use either the standard or the hotter and more power-hungry LR ones

And a warning - most ecig atomizers arrive with nasty tasting primer on them!

Congratulations! Sounds like you're loving it. You started with a really good pv, so I'm not surprised. You're on your way. There will be things come up as you go along, so be sure to come back here often and ask questions or just read around and find your answers. How are you doing with the craving for a cig? If you have the right nic level and the right attitude, it should be pretty easy to "forget" about cigs altogether. Good luck and keep us informed....we LOVE success stories!

About juices: When I first started, I just assumed I'd want "tobacco-like" flavors. With my first order, I ordered several tobacco flavors, and the vendor stuck in a little free sample of Blueberry. Well.......the Blueberry became my favorite; I hated the tobaccos; I almost ran out of Blueberry before I could get more. Even to this day (nine months later...yay me!) Blueberry is one of my favorite juices. I guess my point is, keep an open mind and order some things you wouldn't THINK you'd want. I love most of the fruity flavors. My all-day vape nowadays is one called "Hypnotic Mist"....you can get it at www.vaporbomb.com or at www.freedomsmokeUSA.com. I'm sure others may have it, too. It's really yummy (taste IS subjective....) and is a place to start. Also, peach and peach pie are a couple of my favorites. Get small (3-5ml) bottles of several flavors so that if you don't like something, you don't have a whole bunch of it.

Ha. That's cool, swedishfish. They're the ones that got me started on the fruits. I still love VB Blueberry best of all the fruits. They were my first juice vendor so I have a real soft spot. In "real life" people don't usually send "free samples" with an order. I was blown away. They I loved that Blueberry sooooo much....(and hated the tobaccos sooooo much! LOL). I had to make that little 5ml bottle last until I could get more in. Memorable. I remember rationing the last few drops. Ha. Lesson learned. I've never been that low on juice since. I haven't mixed any arctic ice with my fruits yet....may need to try that.

It kicks it up a knotch with the artic ice. I ordered it tiny bottle of peach because I didn't think I'd like it and it was gone in about 2 days. Then I ordered 2- 30 ml bottles of it!

I accidently mixed peach with my nuport juice that that's pretty good too.

I'm always eyeing my juice bottles trying to calculate when to order more.
