Hello all.
Got my first e-cig ( V2 starter kit ) this past week and found this forum today so I thought I would make a post and ask a few questions.
Is the V2 Brand a good one ? I have heard a few horror stories on there Carts not lasting or being filled all the way , but have heard some good things too.
Can I refill the Carts even though they say to throw them away ?
can I buy prefilled carts from somewhere else cheaper that will Fit this V2 Brand?

Thanks guys.
Scott

This answer applies to all carts. You can refill them, some people use an injection/needle to make it easier and quicker. You do throw them away after a certain time due to them being an atomiser/cartridge in one but you just keep refilling it up until it stops working.

Welcome to ECF, Scott.

You will hear good and bad opinions on any ecig.......LOL.......The V2 has KR808D threading which is a popular threading and is preferred by many people. You can buy cartomizers in a lot of places that would probably be cheaper than buying from V2. They are calling them 'cartridges' which is confusing, but what you are actually using on a 2-piece ecig are cartos.

Yes, the prefills are refillable and is what most people do. Buying blank cartos would be even cheaper. You just need to start your quest for your favorite eliquids.

You will get lots of suggestions on where to buy KR808 bits and pieces. I use 510 threading so I'm not a lot of help for suggesting vendors for you.

I suggest Elite Vaporworks Home since it is an 808 threading. He sells blank cartomizers and also prefilled-If you go with prefilled, I suggest the blueberry cream or strawnana for starters. Nice, true fruit flavors (instead of overly sweet candy flavors). He has free shipping all the time too which never hurts :) Good luck!

Kr808 threading? Is that the end part where the Cart screws on to? Is the battery itself different from other brands?
I thought I read the v2 had a slightly higher output of voltage or something ? ( you can tell I am new lol )

As far as juices go , who has the best ( COST WISE ) and customer service ?

Thanks for ALL the imput you guys !! I truely appreciate it.

Hello mate, welcome to ECF.

Congratulations on your decision to vape rather than smoke. There's lots to enjoy and even more to learn. :)

Mate I'll help you with your questions as best I can. I started vaping a year ago and my first kit was also from V2.
You'll hear both good and bad things about V2's product, but I for one love the technology that it's based on.

You'll also hear some good but mostly bad things about V2 as a company, as they seem to be looked down upon here and I believe that it mostly has to do with their marketing claims and exorbitant prices.

The ecig you have purchased is based on a common model called the KR808D-1 (KR8 or 808 for short). The KR808D-1's have a standard threading on the cartomizers and battery ends and all other KR808D-1 parts from every vendor are supposed to fit, albeit sometimes they don't fit as well as they should but that's rare.

There are some other companies like Smokeless Image with their Volt branded ecig and Bloog with their Maxxfusion that also base their offering on the 808 model and if you were to purchase batteries or cartomizers from them you'll find they'll fit and especially in the case of the Volt, they'll be cheaper, but that's all part of the learning experience. Many people pay alot more money to start vaping than we did and ended up with substandard products.

I found the V2 cartos to be hit and miss alot of the time. Some were great and lasted ages, some were fairly tasteless and didn't last, but that was a year ago. I got into refilling cartos fairly quickly which is very very easy and there's many methods (youtube refill cartomizer). Popping the cap off and filling it is the simplest and most hassle free I've found.

You can refill carts until they are burned out. Over time you'll get used to noticing when the flavour drops off. That's when it's time to refill. If you keep vaping you notice a burnt taste, that's the filler inside the carto burning and that's when a carto goes in the bin. You can of course clean them out before they are burnt if you've refilled them a few times and the performance is not where it should be, carto's, even though they are stated that they can be refilled up to 5 times on the V2 site can last much much longer of properly cared for.

As I said, I started on 808's. I rapidly moved onto other products like eGo's, 510's, and mods, but I came back to the 808 and I'm very happy with how it performs. Of course knowing nothing about your vaping style I can't presume to know what you'll be happy with in the future, but I will recommend getting a pcc charging case and at least 3 batteries if you're at least a moderate vaper. PCC's can be purchased from many vendors, the cheapest I've found are litecigusa and cigeasy.

Sorry for the blog post, I am well versed in all things 808 and have way too much to share. It's a good unit so stick with it for the time being. and if there's anything I can help with, just ask.

Cheers mate.

The newer 808s all have higher output of voltage which is why so many recommend them for slim style Pvs. You will find many kr808 users who stay with them rather than upgrade to a bigger battery and or still use them even when they do. Elite Vaporworks is a great place for refills and supplies. In addition to finding many vendors that sell the 808 line, Smokeless Image, V4l, bloog, Halo and more are some registered vendors on the site that have great lines dealing with the KR808 model. V2 s are no better or worse, the only reason they aren't preferred is because their product isn't any better or worse, it is just way more expensive.

Welcome to the club

There are as many opinions on one e-cig or another as there are people, same with juice.

I shopped around till I found the juice that was right for me ( in my sig ) but that is just me, I don’t vape a lot of different flavors, I want consistency and something that I really enjoy ( your mileage may vary ), for me this was exactly what I was looking for.

This ( as a former menthol smoker ) has worked very very well for me and I cant speak highly enough about Blue Mist as a company, they are top notch.

I buy it 180ml at a time

Ah Jeez,
In the time it took me to write that essay, 4 people replied. LOL.

It was only meant to be a short one. :)

In regards to the output of the V2 batteries at 4.2 volts, this is one of the reasons people get annoyed by the marketing.
All 808 batteries are 4.2 volts when they come off the charger. This is the nature of an unregulated voltage Lithium Ion Ploymer battery. The Voltage will decrease to about 3.7V very quickly and then at the end the voltage reaches 3.3V, and it's time to recharge and the circuit in your ecig will cause your led to flash and let you know this.

The 3.3V at the end of the battery is the cause of the loss of vapour production.

Yes, the threading refers to the screw configuration on the end of your battery. There are lots of different threading options so it's very important to know what type your ecig has so you can find compatible bits and pieces.

Juices are so subjective in taste it's hard to suggest ones you would like. There are many, many juice vendors which are highly recommended. We always suggest you start your juice hunt by getting samplers from many vendors.

You might want to check out the E-Liquid Reviews.

As far as cheap juice goes, Dekang is a very large chinese supplier of ejuice and it is sold through resellers all over the world.

It is cheap, and sometimes the flavour is nasty, but they have a huge amount of flavours and some of them are very very good.

Dekang juice is a good place to start because it's cheap and you can't know a good juice until you've had a standard one.

The V2 was my first too. I have moved to the Elite from Cig Easy but have the V2 in my hand right now. I use the starter kit for around the house and the Elite at work. (12 hour shifts). I didn't know about the prices at first but don't think it would have changed my mind. NOT smoking is the goal and even V2 is cheaper than health problems...

Look for prefilled or blank Cartos, not Carts. Two vastly different things. You should also use SR (Standard Resistance) cartos, not LR (Low Resistance) cartos.

Carts = Cartridges
Cartos = Cartomizers

V2 website incorrectly calls them Carts.

elite vaporworks says they are out of stock on 808 cartomizers.

smokless image website doesnt look bad.

Gap, I agree, though my reasoning might differ slightly. I was thinking about this stuff yesterday and realized, a certain % of every dollar I ever spent was spent on education. It follows then, that the less I knew at the time, the greater the percentage of that dollar went toward my lessons, whether I learned them or not. One of the great things about ECF is it greatly reduces the percent of my limited vaping budget required for these lessons, if I'll just pay attention. But I don't think of the money I spent getting here as "wasted" at all - education isn't free and once we "get it" I think it's worth whatever it costs.
