Hello all, as explained in the title I'm completely new to this whole vape thing. A few weeks ago I bought a greensmoke starter kit for $30 bucks from a local distributor. It seems pretty decent and I've been vaping the crap out of it. I like how simple and portable it is and how long the cartridges last. Honestly I'm still kind of surprised how much negative feedback they (green smoke) gets around here.
Either way, I started reading up on this new exciting vape stuff which obviously lead me here. All of this stuff about piecing together your own mod system definitely interests me, seems to be another new time consuming / expensive hobby that I'm quickly getting addicted to. Needless to say, I got impatient and just went for it and tried my luck at purchasing a few different components to throw together. I'm going to toss my invoice up here and would appreciate any and all feedback that you seasoned veterans have to offer. I also have a couple questions about some stuff which I can't seem to figure out.
Here's the invoice from AvidVaper:
First... I think I went a bit too big on the nicotine levels, it hits me harder than expected lol... Probably kick that down a notch next order. I got the Atomizers working right off the bat after reading the LR Atomizer User Guide, definitely helpful. Tastes great, really nice vapor, great throat hit. One concern though is it states: "potentially damage most eGo style batteries", so far so good, but we're they a bad choice, or is it fine since I got an eGo twist? I've been using this Safe Vapor Power Chart which I found on these forums.
Next I tried the cartomizer tank. Instant noobie mistake, I don't think I primed the carto enough, fired it up, it smoked a bit and tasted real bad like metal, tried to prime it more and fill the tank more, tried hitting it more without pressing the button, fired it up again and it won't hit, only metal taste. Guessing I burnt it out with a quickness? Guessing I will need to buy one of these X2 Dual Coil 510 Pre-Drilled (punched) Cartomizers 5 packs (10 bucks - no big deal)... Question is though, which should I get 1.5, 2.0 or 2.5 ohms? Or better yet, is there a better cartomizor that I should get for that tank, or possibly a new slim tank all together? I was reading a lot about the SmokeTech slim tanks, but they don't carry them on AvidVapor, and are sold out of most smaller sizes on Clouds Of Vapor. When assembled, the smoke tank + black eGo Slim Tank Cones does look prettty noice.
Here's where my confusion sets in (back to the atty), regarding the "Drip Shield 901 | 510 | 306" plus the "510 modders connector", I screw the modders connector on to the LR 306 atty, then in to the eGo twist, slide that Drip Shield on, also looks pretty sweet but, it won't hit. I was under the impression that it just extended the 306 to allow the drip shield to fit. Anyone have experience with these?
All and all, AvidVapor had insanely fast shipping (from NY to CA), everything packaged nicely and was informative enough that I think I was able to be moderately successful considering I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. My only gripe is the threads on the eGo seem a little wonky and the atty / carto / mod don't screw down flush, kind of makes them tilt off a bit. I contacted their support about it and I'm going to try and exchange the battery. The two liquids seem nice, except the blueberry, I can't stand it so far, maybe it will grow on me tho.
That's bout it, sorry for being so long winded. As I posted above, I would definitely appreciate any and all feedback or answers to my questions that any of you may have.
Cheers,
Justin
