First post & protank 2 questions

Hi ECF!
I'm new here and kind of new to vaping.
After smoking 1/2 pack a day for 4 years, I quit smoking in Jan 2012 using an Joyetech Ego-T type e-cig (some kind of really old version... nothing like what's on the market now) and Johnson's Creek original flavor smoke juice from my local smoke shop. It was all I had and all I needed, and it kept me off analogs for an entire year. After that first year and stopping use of the e-cig (I just felt like I didn't need it anymore/didn't care), I slowly began picking up an after work black and mild habit that got completely out of control. I was a smoker again!

After trying out a friend's vivi nova + vision spinner combo, it really opened my eyes up to this new generation of vaping. I did my research and went out to a local b&m to pick up a kanger pro tank 2 + k101 mech mod, along with Uncle Junk's flavor Monica's Eyes. I was in LOVE with blowing clouds and o's and so excited to try new flavors! It's been 2 months now and I've tried Uncle Junk's brand, Pink Spot Vapors, The Vapor Chef (plus a few duds) and I'm currently awaiting vapemail from Alice in Vapeland :) I vape 0mg and I'm starting to think I prefer higher VG levels as I experiment.

A few questions. First of all, I am starting to realize it's weird that I only have 1 protank and 1 battery. I clean out my protank in between each flavor, is this necessary?? The one time I didn't wash it between flavors, the flavors mixed! I just use hot water and rinse everything and let air dry.

Second, as I experiment with different coil sizes, I am realizing that I prefer 1.8 coils. I got ahold of some 1.5's and right now that's all I've got left. It pretty much tastes burnt every time, and as I cannot lower the voltage on my device... what the hell can I do to fix this problem? I have already tried the trick of flipping the rubber grommet at the bottom of the coil and it was a quick fix, but didn't solve the issue. It still burns. I'm currently using The Vapor Chef's Black Pom Pom @ 0mg 50%/50% and doesn't taste like delicious black currants as it should!

Thanks in advanced!
Jen

the simple fix is to get a "kick" module that will regulate your wattage from start to finish of the battery charge but if you are using 18650 batteries you will need to get 18500 or 18350 batteries to allow room for the kick

$8.33 Variable Wattage Kick Module for Mechanical Mod / PV - range: 5-12 watts at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

Kick or a variable voltage device of SOME type. You could get one that'll use your current battery - and maybe spring for a 2nd battery too. Then you'd be set with something else to vape while a battery is charging... A VV device would also have the ability to check your resistance - so you'd know if you really had a 1.8 or a 2.0 coil, when it was tasting just right.

There are some decent ones for $40 around...

Oh - and mixing juice? It's up to you!
Lots of people fill a ProTank that's still got some juice in it, if the flavors seem like they'll be good together...
I clean mine every 2 or 3 fillups, run hot water through the head, but don't even bother with a "dry burn" - they've been lasting a pretty long while. And I like 1.8, too.
