Hello,

I'm new to this site and am posting my first thread. first, I'll share with you all some of the drama I've created in buying ecigs.

did an online search and found on the first site that greensmokes were the best. since i wanted to use these to quite smoking, i paid $30 for overnight shipping to get started the next day. after day three my batteries stopped working. i had to talk to two reps to get them to send a replacement and they send it using this really wierd thing called streamlite which only delays shipment by a day or two. and they don't send out the product until even the next day.

so i did more research and found out i was on a scam website, paid too much for my product, and that customer service and battery problems are common with this company. i've been duped.

when they sent the replacement batteries, there was no long battery in the package! i called again and got the guy to give me a coupon and free pack of cartomizers, and send out the long battery. that was last night. it still hasn't shipped.

i may still return these things yet, but right now i'm thinking that their going to deduct the cost of the cartomizers that came with the starter kit, i'll have to pay for shipping, and pay to have a new starter kit shippped from somewhere else. so i won't save any money and will probably have to fight with them to get the refund.

so,, thanks for sticking it out threw that rant. my question is why does my cartomizer get so hot when i use it??

i tend to smoke these things differently then regular ciggs. i'll smoke for about 20-30 minutes at a time, but much less often during the day.

am i producing heat by smoking them for too long? do they all do this?

I look forward to my first responses!;)

It has a heating element inside it. So the more you use them the hotter it gets. I started with the cig types from blu but quickly switched since the batts would only last me 15 min. And if you puffing on just about any ecig, cig style, ego, or whatever it's going to get hot. On my inferno I puff on it enough to get a tube tank and the mouthpiece hot, and that takes some work. But it gives it better flavor and th for me, so I'm switching to a lavatube so I can adjust the voltage to make the device to the work for me.

But in short, they pretty much all do, and the hotter it gets the shorter the life is going to be, If you want to stay with the cig size one's i'd say split the 20-30 min across 2 batts/carts, or at least 2 carts, will make em last longer in the end.

It's hard to put them down when you first get to vaping, but after the newness wears off I go on mine for 5-10 min and put it down, about the time it would take to smoke a cig, if you can do that, that's the best thing.

Welcome to the forum! You aren't the first and won't be the last that got an overpriced pv. It could be worse, you could have gotten the $300 whitesmoke.

I'd send it back and cut your losses. Or just keep it for a backup pv. You can get a decent ego starting at about $30 or an ego type pv with cartomizers for $50. Batteries last 7+ hours and up depending on battery size.

If you want something small like the greensmoke, Vapor 4 Life, Smokeless Image Volt, Halo, Bloog all have KR808's. Many people start with that. They have prefilled cartomizers.

Make sure you order manual batteries, and I'd suggest getting blank cartomizers for the ego or KR808 and fill them yourself. You'll save money and they do taste better.

Good luck and welcome!

Cartomizers get hotter the quicker you vape with them. Some brands are EXTREMELY hot.

Yes the "review websites" are typically scams. Greensmoke is overpriced unfortunately but look at the bright side - it's better than regular cigarettes (analogs).

If you want to get a bigger kit with bigger batteries there are many people that make good recommendations here.

I only vape "slim" style and have used several brands (3 mainly).

You'll get used to the cartos getting hot. V4L is one brand that has regular cartos (really really hot) and cool carts (really hot). I also use vapeshot.com stuff and theirs get hot but a little less than the cool carts from V4L.

Sorry to hear about your troubles, but Google is NOT your friend when it comes to shopping online for ecigs. I fell for V2Cigs when I started, although V2 is about the best of the "bad" companies, the reason being that their product actually works, and the customer service is rather good. Just overpriced.

Anyway, let's get to your concerns. The cartomizer is getting hot because there is actually a heating element inside that resembles what's inside an old school light bulb...you know, the coil that heats up and gets really bright. The same thing is at the bottom of your carto, but it has wicking material that runs through it and holds the juice to be vaporized. When you activate your ecig, the coil gets hot, which boils the ejuice in the wick and turns it into steam, or vapor, and that is what you are inhaling. The more you use your ecig, the more heat is produced, and thus, the hotter the cartomizer gets. It's a good idea to let the carto cool down a little. Some people will just keep 2 cartos with the same juice and just switch between them. This also allows the "hot" carto to sit and soak some new juice into the wick. Yes, they all get warm like this.

I also have some suggestions to replace your current Greensmoke kit, should you return it. Check out these vendors and kits:

You can't go wrong with any of these kits. They have small differences, but we will get to that a little later. :)

Call your bank.
Cancel the transaction.
Return the merchandise (just hand it right back to your postal carrier.
Order your equipment from one of the recommended suppliers (that is, one of the suppliers being recommended by the vets of this site).

Think of it as hitting the "Restart" button.

Welcome to ECF damselle. Ok so you made a bad purchase. Not uncommon and very fixable. However, to fix it we've got to get you educated a bit. Vaping is not at all like smoking the stinkies. It requires a different set of rules and routines. But that's ok, we learned to smoke, we can learn to vape.

This would be a good kit for you to look at. E-Power From Smok Tech and HECS This comes with cartomizers rather than the atomizer/cartridge combo that a lot of the "ego" style PVs come with. Also, it has replaceable batteries rather than having to throw out the battery and battery tube once the battery inside is dead. Good luck to you and please keep asking ! :)
