So I decided to use vaping to quit smoking. I've been smoke free for 6 days now, using only vape. I'm a tad bit worried about what I'm putting into my lungs but I keep telling myself that anything has got to be better than smoke. I use the 24mg liquid. I truly believe I'm a nicotine addict, not a smoker. My husband says he's proud of me but it feels weird to accept it because it's been a real easy transition for me. I'm getting my nicotine and currently only use tobbacco flavored juice. It honestly feels and kinda tastes like I'm smoking so I worry that it's not good for me.

Hi :)

I had the same concerns as you when I started.

The way I see it, there are certain number of 'attitudes' to the safety of inhaling vapour. What I have discovered over the last 2 years is that the only people who we/you can trust are the scientists who have nothing to gain from being either anti or pro e-cigarettes. This means anybody connected to either the tobacco or pharmaceutical money train are NOT to be trusted. It sounds a bit paranoid, but I believe it to be true. Also, there are people in public health who are forced to maintain a pessimistic approach because;
no.1) they want us all to quit smoking by not vaping and
no.2) as it's early days for vaping, they don't want to recommend it, just in case something about them works out to be a little harmful, even if that's a lot less harmful than smoking tobacco.

So, I listen to the people who understand the concept of harm reduction and that some people will never quit nicotine. ALL these scientists seem extremely optimistic about the possible dangers of vaping, not because vaping is 100% SAFE, but because it so far seems remarkably SAFER then smoking.

The top two UK scientists without an axe to grind are both convinced vaping is way, way safer than smoking and may actually carry almost no risk at all.

Look into the details at CASAA or google people like Professor Peter Hajek.

congratulations on the easy quit. how many years were you worried about what you put into your lungs before you started vaping?
from someone who went from serious health issues to "average" health for my age i'm pretty sure that vaping is a heck of a lot less damaging.i should also note that i am cautious and do research before using a new product. best of luck.:D

    Well 6 congrats for you! Instead of worrying about what you're putting into your body, you should be glad about what you're NOT putting into your body anymore! I agree with what Warpigs said, the handful of ingredients (which technically can be called chemicals, since they are..) is way better than the at least 4,000+ chemicals in tobacco cigarettes, most of which are a whole lot more dangerous to your body.

    I prefer a tobacco flavor in my e-juice as well, and I mix this juice - Turkish Bold with this one - Mojito, at about a 80/20 ratio.

    I'm not a doctor, and I've never even been one on TV, so I can't say that vapin' is no danger at all to you, but I'm pretty sure it's a lot better than smoking cigarettes! Besides, it's a LOT cheaper too!

    Thanks everyone. This helped. True, I KNEW what was going into my lungs when I smoked was wretched yet it didn't stop me from sucking it in by the ton. I guess with vaping it's the fear of the unknown but ,as with the cigarettes, it won't stop me from getting my nicotine fix. You guys are right, thousands of nasty ingredients versus maybe a few, guess it's not rocket science :)

    Congrats and welcome. I've been smoke free for 14 months now. I started not wanting tobacco flavors. I used cinnamon, bakery and fruit flavors. Some are good some are not. If you have a local store that lets you try flavors experiment. I know a lot of people that started with tobacco flavors and thats all they wanted but now can't stand them after trying others. Each person is different though as you will find with yourself in your journey. I started at 18mg juice and now use 6 although in a much different setup than before. Don't worry that it was so easy because for most it is.
