So I wanted to play with the DIY stuff I just got... and am now concerned that I screwed something up.

My first question: 1 dram = approx 3.7ml, correct?

So, I fired up the ejuice calculator and entered some data to make a 3ml sample bottle, and ended up with LESS than half a dram... like maybe a third of a dram.

What the hell happened?

the numbers add up, so apparently you didn't measure correctly. tiny batches are harder to measure correctly and if you are using drops as a unit of measurement rather than ml it is easier to make a mistake counting. Also be aware that not all drops are created equal, the viscosity of the liquid plays a major factor in the amount of drops per ml, as does the dropper itself.

It could also be that your 3ml bottle holds more than 3ml. The first juice I made was a 10ml batch put into a 10 ml bottle and only filled it about 2/3 full. Made a second batch, same results. If you measured correctly, which you probably did, it's just the bottle IMO.

You make a good point. A lot of the juice vendors we use, generously overfill the bottles.

.. I just like to see expressions on the faces of taste testers.)

Reminds me of one of the kits I got that had pre-filled carto's in it. It was 'tobacco' something or other but it tasted like fried clams..and was absolutely disgusting! I'm sure the ensuing expression of disgust, random expletives, and tongue-scrubbing would have been worth capturing on film. No more pre-filled's for me!

Try it!

Please set the video recording device to record before proceeding.

I want a record of this great moment...

(Seriously, I really doubt it will cause you harm. I just like to see expressions on the faces of taste testers.)

You Sir, are a sick and twisted individual...
I've always liked that about you. :)

So, never measure by drops again! Got it...
Should I toss this first test? I don't want my eyeballs to melt when I vape test it...

In the entire time I have been a member of the ECF, I have only heard of 47 people who's eyeballs melted from their DIY juice. I'm sure you will be ok.

But you might want to dial 9-1 on your cell phone and have your finger over the 1 button when you take your first hit just in case. That way if you eyeballs do melt, you can just press the 1 button and you can get help.

holy cow 30% flavouring? and 10% vodka woweee you must be getting a good throat hit from 12mg and the flavour must keep you up at night lol.

Well, thus far I've had to double flavor on everything I order. My taste buds are some non-cooperative mothers, and the throat hit in most of my juices is severely lacking. I'm letting this test batch steep a few days and will then try it out, but I have a seeing-eye cat on standby. :)

I get that a lot, but this is the first time I've seen it from a Shoe Queen.

Seeing as how your outfit reminds me of my Ren Faire days, I figure you'd appreciate a "royal decree", so here goes...

"Thou art disturbed and wrong-headed...
I admire thee for such qualities.
Alas, it vexes me not at all!"

 :p

+1 to what old soldier and meetzer said. You probably didn't miscount the drops, it is probably just the viscosity of your liquid created smaller drops, or the bottle size. Don't toss it. Even if it was the drop size, and even though drops aren't standard, your drops should have been the same size, so the ratios should be at least close, and slight variation shouldn't matter much, it isn't like the nic strength is going to be too far from 12 to do you any harm. Worst case scenario the flavor will be too strong. Or you'll love it, whip up a big batch and it won't taste as good.
