So my friend and I just decided to try out mixing our own juices. We ordered some 36mg nicotine (to cut to 18), a bottle of VG and a bunch of lorann drams.

Sofar we've mixed up a few delicious flavors. First two were pinapple menthol and watermelon menthol which were fairly straight forward. The third is what my friend dubbed "colonial juice" which is a fruit punchy flavor which consists of 9 of tue loranns flavors.

This is where my questions come from because the colonial juice has lemonade, wintergreen, lime oil and a few of the other flavors that i've seen listed as not safe. Now they are in very small amounts, but what is it that makes the natural oil flavors not desireable, and should they not even be used?

Also we started grabbing some extracts from grocery stores to try as flavorings. Some of the flavors contain natural oils, others contain malic and citric acids. Are these safe to use? I've seen information going both ways on those.

Any information would be helpful. I just really wanna do the DIY stuff as safely as possible.. I'm more worried about the other ingrediants than I am handling the actual nicotine!

Thanks!

If you're grabbing extracts, make sure they are not suspended in a carrier oil, such as vegetable oil. Also, if you are planning to use an oil, be sure to read about the oil and it's ingredients, maximum dosage, toxicity, and also check the thread on liquids that crack tanks (if you are using tanks or clearos) here on ECF. Some essential oils, such as wintergreen, reportedly can crack tanks. I use atomizers so it doesn't affect me, but just fyi. I use essential oils frequently as well. However, I limit mine to Eucalyptus oil, Wintergreen, Spearmint. Some essential oils can be harmful when vaporized, such as cinnamon oil, and a variety of others (people have reported many health problems, including cavities, after vaping natural cinnamon oil). Triacetin can also be problematic as it is a plasticizer and will crack plastic or dissolve it, and vaping plastic (if it is stored in plastic) isn't necessarily healthy imo. Read about Lime oil, aromatherapy, and other stuff to learn about essential oils and their effects when inhaled.

Yeah, i've been staying away from extracts that are in anything but pg or vg, and also anything that contains sugar, gum or anything else sketchy. I found about a dozen extracts at fairway yesterday that meet criteria for vaping.

I'll keep looking around for info on all this stuff. I see people using malic acid as a tart agent and i'm on the fence if i want to use it or not. Same goes for citric acid. I got a passionfruit extract that contains both and but smells delicious. I also did get cinnamon which i've never tried before, i think i'll keep it that way.

I know I'm sort of being captain obvious :) but if you feel something is making you nauseous or lightheaded, I wouldn't continue vaping. The same goes for something that makes you cough or irritates your lungs or throat. If you're using sweetener, I would recommend using something that is not natural because those clog your atomizer. EZ-Sweetz is probably the best sweetener available right now. Also, do not use aspartame, as that can be very harmful. Watch out for ingredients you don't recognize and do a google search to make sure they are not very harmful.
