do you know the brand? I'll head over there today! I also saw a video that they had torches too...not really sure what you use them for though. Also I was wondering about the cotton. Can you just use regular %100 cotton...or does it have to be organic?

I can't remember the brand name but you'll find it in the electrical section. They have several, but you don't need the $200 one.

Torches.... you use that to torch (anneal) the kanthal wire. This is not a "must have" Annealing the wire gets rid of it's "memory". Makes it less springy and burns off the oil from the extruding process.

Cotton... 100% organic cotton from your local drug store or Wal-Mart

Thanks for all your help equilibrium!

Back to the battery - lets say the battery I got is a knock off, should I be okay if I stay in the range of .8 to 1.2 ohms, or can I go lower than that? I will probably end up buying from a reputable source eventually but I'm strapped this month and I want to get some other stuff...

If it is a knock off... I can't really say for sure. Maybe someone with more battery knowledge than me will respond.

The terminals on the battery look correct, the QR code looks too dark, but it does that in photos alot, the seam is hard to judge based on the reflection in the photo.
The QR code should be subdued not crisp and dark, the seam should be straight not wavy. Don't sweat the white labels on them, I've seen several vape shops that print those out and put them on the batteries, it makes it easy to see for customers, the printing on the battery wrapper is not easily visible from a distance.
Even if it is a fake it SHOULD have at least a 10a rating, so a 0.8+ build should not be an issue, if it's authentic have at it, I don't however recommend building below 0.2 ever.

As for the multi meter, it is not necessary to buy a $200+ true RMS meter, but you should buy the best one you can afford.
This is your parachute, would you jump with one you bought on ebay for $50?

The QR code is very dark under good light, it almost looks wet :/ The seam is straight though. Is there ANY official way to tell a fake other than visual appearance?

LOL NO! But for now I am going to play it safe. I might eventually cloud chase but that really doesn't interest me enough to justify a 200 reader. A $20 parachute should still work for the average jumper right?

I don't know what eBay gets such a bad rep. If you know what your buying and you buying from reputable sellers on eBay you will have no problem.

Don't buy from China. Don't buy from people with under 50 feedback. Make sure feedback is 98 or higher. Try to buy from top rated sellers.

I have bought a lot of stuff from Selectvape off eBay. The guy that runs the site is very knowledgeable and will help you almost anything.

As far as ohms reader eleaf brand is fine. Just don't build stupid low coils like .05 or .10

I think that meter you pictured, or one like it, would be a better way to go than using a multi-meter. If you have a Harbor Freight nearby, you can get a cheapo (or even free with a coupon) multimeter to check your battery voltage, but pretty sketch for checking coils. You do need to check the batteries, they should not be run too low, about 3.2 - 3.3 volts, then they need to be charged. Harbor Freight also has a decent torch for dirt cheap that works pretty well, all kinds of mini-screwdriver sets, little pliers and wire cutters, etc.

As for the batteries, I would say be very careful if you're not positive what you have. With a good build, you should be happy with 1+ ohm coils for a while as you're getting experience and becoming more comfortable with building and and wicking and figuring out watts and amps and all that stuff.

I bought the batterys from a convention last weekend along with the nemesis clone. The guy from a booth I bought the clone from referred me to the booth I got the batteries (they were out). " go to them, they are selling Sony 18650 batteries for 15$! That's a great deal man....". Me not knowing Jack about battery's I'm thinking 15$ still sounds expensive :l. Live u learn I guess.

Got a multimeter today but I went with the manual model to save a few bucks. Couple questions: Can I check my battery with it to determine if its phony or not? And what Ohm setting do I use to check my coils?
