Hello,

Foreword:
I bought my very first vape about a week ago (Subox Mini starter kit), and the store's policy was that if you crushed up and threw away your cigarettes in the store, you get a free 15mL bottle of juice. Of course I took them up on it (as a full pack here costs around $5 and they are selling eliquid at $12 for 15mL). After burning through the juice, I realized that paying retail could possibly be just as expensive as cigarettes.

My Supply:
Deciding to venture into the DIY eLiquids, I went to LiquidBarn.com and ordered labware and ingredients, including 3 bottles of flavorings. I went with Creme Brulee, Pacific Cooler, and Orange Banana. Only after typing this do I realize how strange some of the possible mixtures will turn out.

My Plan:
LiquidBarn's information page for each extract contains a Suggested Mix Percentage. When I make my first bottle of eliquid of a single flavor, Pacific Cooler for example, I will probably use their recommended mix percentage (unless someone has prior experience with LiquidBarn's extracts and can give me their preferred recipe).

My Question:
If I'm maybe shooting for a Banana Bread Breakfast flavor (Creme Brulee + Orange Banana) or some other combination of the flavorings, what amount of each should I use? In my example, Creme Brulee recommends 6% and Orange Banana recommends 8%. Should I apply them additively (6% CB and 8% OB for a total of 14% flavoring) or do I half each since there are two flavors (3% CB and 4% OB for a total of 7% flavorings)?

You need to think what is going to be your base flavor (Main flavor) and what is going to be your note or accent flavor. Rule of thumb is the base flavor gets the entire recommended percentage and the accent flavor gets the partial of the recommened flavor depending how big of a note you want so if your base flavor is let's say orange banana and I just wanted a touch of creamieness I would do something like this.

OB 8%
CB 2%

Then work up on the CB in 1% increments until I reach my desired level of creamieness. Also note steeping time will effect the outcome of the mix by either the flavors getting stronger or they can even get weaker as time goes by. So do some research on steeping methods. Read my blog on steeping.

I never make test batches larger than 5ml... I've had far more blunders than successes, and got VERY tired of wasting so much nicotine and flavoring.

If you want a banana nut bread flavor, you can't go wrong with TFA's Banana Nut Bread flavor. I add just a little more sweetener, but it's quite good on its own.
