Hi I'm Deb. I'm 47 years old and been smoking for 35 years. I live in NY and they are making it harder and more expensive to get cigarttes. I've been ordering from the indian reservation for about 5 years and now they've passed the pact act that will make it too expensive to order from them let alone get them shipped to me. I flatly refuse to pay the outragious taxes that NY has imposed on tobacco products so I'm looking for (and found) a new way to get my fix.

I've had my ecig for about a week and I still haven't totally quit reg cigs. need to change my habits to do that. found this forum thru Cignot and I have the joye 510 and I love it.

Hi, Debs63! Welcome to the forum. Some folks quit the smokes right away and some folks don't. No biggie, we're all different. If you keep at it, the smokes will quit YOU! hehe. It helps if your mg of juice is pretty good though. What strength juice are you vaping?

BTW: NY is trying to ban e-cigs. They were after us here in California too, but we wrote letters and got them to back down. You should check out the banner at the top of the screen and write a letter to show them how e-cigs are working out for you.

PS: is it true cigarettes are $10 there? YIKES!

My wife and I took a day trip to NYC back in October, and she ran out of analogs (she can't get into the e-cig). We went into a bodega where the clerk unashamedly announced that a pack of Marlboros was "9 dollah, 50 cent'".
What? 8-o
$9.50 a pack?
Thinking her lighter was on its last legs, she asked for one of those cheapy Bics that you see everywhere for a buck. "5 dollah" says the clerk.
Good grief! How can anyone afford a smoking habit in NY?
So she asked for a book of matches.....
Yeah.
Clerk says "25 cent"
I think those stores are robbed so regularly just to get even.

I've never seen a lighter go for 5 bucks here. Maybe you looked like tourists. ;)

I started vaping due to the pact act as well. Best decision I ever made.

Welcome Deb and gald youre lovin your new 510 :)
Dont stress about not quitting yet (if thats even what you want to do), these things take many people (me inc.) time, and comparing yourself to anyone else is a waste of your time and energy. Do what feels right FOR YOU, on your own terms, and on your own timescale. Any cigs you DON'T smoke are a plus, so dont worry about how many you might be still using, congratulate yourself on the ones you AREN'T smoking.

Hi Rosa, thanks. I am using the 26mg. My prefilled cartridges came with marlb 18 but I didn't care for them so went with flavored. Yep NY is trying to ban them, they won't get the tax money they get on reg cigs if this catches on. There is another forum I found where they are avidly fighting it. But they are so strapped for money they probably will ban them. Its okay I have a friend in ohio that can ship me the juice in a nice plain brown box :D

And yes cigs are about $10 a pack for your preimum. I was getting mine from the indian reservation for about $2.60 a pack non preimum. That shows you how much taxes are here on them. Its totally crazy what they are doing. But I'm moving on with the ecig and I know I'll do it. I'm enjoying it so far, just need to regulate it a bit more as I feel like I'm always craving but I think its more habit. I've ordered some automatic batterys to see if that helps

Welcome to the ECF.Try getting some stronger juice thats what did it for me.I needed the throut hit and alot of vapor before I could put down the cigs.

Thanks Stike, I've got the 26mg, it came with 18mg prefilled and I bought a couple samples that were 26. I ended up dumping and rinsing out the 18mg and refilling with the 26 cause the 18 didn't do anything for me.

I think that is what I was missing too was the throat hit. the 26 seems to be working fine now and I'm trying to break my habit of having a cig in my hand at all times

Thanks CaptJay, I never looked at it like that. I do want to quit reg cigs. I've tried several times and was never sucessful. So I figure if I can just vape then I'll still get my fix but I won't be hurting myself. And it will make my parents happy since everyone else has quit but me :)
