First to building a RDA

So i just got an octopus as my first dripper

i bought some 28gauge kanthal and silca wick

the problem is, when i dry fire to see if the coil light up only the 2 middle coil light up on a 4 wrap

and on a 3 wrap the one on the negative and middle light up but the coil connected to the positive post doesnt any help .

What are you using for your power source?

28 ga Kanthal will take longer to heat up fully than the more common 32 ga; are you pulsing the coil long enough?

im using a ego c twist 1100mah.

Have you tried tweaking the coils slightly while hot? Basically just moving them around slightly; I usually do this with a long blunt needle when checking for hot spots. Also, Make sure that your posts are secured tightly; probably best done prior to coil installation.

Obviously you have a connection or the coil wouldn't fire at all.

YEA u just need to brush those coils move them around slightly and make sure nothing is touching anything. and use a fully charged batt. just pulse it and as a little time goes pulse it longer and longer till u see even glow.

Be sure all 4 wraps are not touching the connection posts. Also the coil must be free of tension.

yup what they said, make sure the coils are pretty evenly spaced on all sides of the wick, and try to keep the legs going into the posts as even as possible.

Although I have a squid its the same thing just different size. I made a coil tonight that had 5 wraps on a 4-40 bolt. After removing the bolt and feeding the wick through I put it on. I noticed the same thing as you. I only had 3 coils lighting. It was because my coils were touxhing the posts. Check them and make sure they arent touching. Also make sure that when you adjust them they dont touch the casing that goes over it.

So, newbie question. Being rough with it, will it move the coils if its not wrapped tight enough?
