Have you tried tweaking the coils slightly while hot? Basically just moving them around slightly; I usually do this with a long blunt needle when checking for hot spots. Also, Make sure that your posts are secured tightly; probably best done prior to coil installation.

Obviously you have a connection or the coil wouldn't fire at all.

Although I have a squid its the same thing just different size. I made a coil tonight that had 5 wraps on a 4-40 bolt. After removing the bolt and feeding the wick through I put it on. I noticed the same thing as you. I only had 3 coils lighting. It was because my coils were touxhing the posts. Check them and make sure they arent touching. Also make sure that when you adjust them they dont touch the casing that goes over it.
