I decided to boil for 10 minutes, but I used a steam basket so they were not sitting directly on the bottom of the pot close to the burner. I then rinsed and used snowdragon's turkey baster method to flush. I had a lot of sampler packs so I decided to use both to flush some of the flavors. By the way I found this great turkey baster at bed bath and beyond. It has a latch and hinge on the ball so it was pretty easy, flip the latch, deposit the carto, snap shut, flush, repeat. It was 15 bucks though.

Can you post a picture of that, or even better, a link to it for sale?

If I'm understanding you correctly, I think I want it. Are you saying there's a latch at the top, to keep an air tight seal on the squeeze part?

I always have to hold my turkey baster weirdly becasue it's not air tight at the top. I was going to try the baby buger plunger next, we'll see.

They are drying on the buffet now. Wish me luck, hopefully I didn't kill them or I am in for a big order next time!

LOL, misread, thought it said dying on the buffet now.

Is there a way to clean cartos without having to squeeze water through it? I have hand injuries, squeezing would be a problem. Would soaking in vodka or boiling be enough on their own?

I've heard and seen some good things about cleaning with vodka in an ultrasonic cleaner made for jewelry. blow out excess, dry burn a bit, put in an oven at 200F for 20 minutes or so, let sit over a night, you should be good to go.

I've been spending so much money on other stuff right now that I'm holding off on this for the moment.

Bogey-

that baster looks pretty pimp, how big is the opening at the bottom when you take the brush off? will a pen grip still fit there?

Actually I just used the funnel tip that came with it and cut it to make the opening wider. At first they fit perfectly in that extra tip that came with it. However, I quickly learned that when I dropped in the carto from the top the water pressure pushed it tight enough that 90-95% when through the carto. Unlatched it. tapped it a couple times and out it came on to the towel.

Worked well for the first time. Only killed one carto but that was from accidently latching the ground wire when popping the cap.

You all do know that cleaning isn't needed often..at least 10 to 20 refills between cleaning...unless you plan to change flavors that are not compatable.

Flavors were my issue Mary Kay. I had 5 sampler packs and only 2 kinds of juice. I wanted to clean the samplers so I could start getting in a rythm with the two juices I know will always be in my orders (555, RY4 or Cuban Cigar, for now anyway). It's good to know that, I wouldn't have likely gone that long. Although being new I am still not quite sure when to stop on a carto to ensure it's good health. I am having trouble recognizing the vapor change, or flavor drop. But my tastebuds are still fried from the nasty analogs. Over two weeks free now!

You'll know when the time is right, Bogey :) But for added insurance, after each vape, top them off with a little juice...you don't have to always spin them...let them set and it gets absorbed and then vape a different one and then top it off :) If you are using two flavors, then you can let them rest instead of getting out all of your equipment to spin :)

When ready for either a light or deep cleaning, give 'em a reverse Taryn spin by removing the mouthpiece and putting a mouth condom on it and spin it mouth down. That gets rid of almost all lingering juices and cuts down on cleaning time (at least some of it) and then I clean the condom with a q-tip soaked in vodka and dry it with the other end :)

Then I bunch several of them together, put a rubber band around them, and stand them mouth-up in a small bowl that's deeper than they are and drizzle boiling water over them and let that soak until cool. Shake out as much water as possible and repeat...they come clean pretty quickly. I drizzle vodka over them using a vinegar dispenser or something similar and let that soak and follow with boiling water all the way to the top of the bowl :) Once the water is cool, I put them aside to dry or spin them dry :) I only boil for a deep cleaning and usually do a "drizzle" clean prior to that :) But I always include a vodka rinse followed by more boiling water.

Bogey, you are doing well!!

I saw this one posted when I fisrt started vaping, and it works great.

Snip a small hole in the end of a condom, and then glue it to a syringe so that the syringe tip (without the needle) fits through the hole.

Push the cart into the end of the condom and flush repeatedly. When you push the water back through by depressing the syringe plunger, you have to hold the cart or it flies across the kitchen followed by a stream of vodka (I discovered that all by myself).

I tried boiling a few before and killed them, so I don't do that anymore. Course they were sitting at the bottom of the pot :( Now I just use the turkey baster and boiling hot water. Haven't killed one yet doing it that way :)
I just can't imagine using PGA to clean my cartos though. Seems like alcohol abuse to me!

I have yet to try cleaning any cartos. I never thought I'd mess with it, but I'm staring at a bag full of used ones that I may as well do something with.

Us Bloomington folk are pretty snazzy dressers, eh? ;)

Yes we are! Glad to see another Bloomington Vaper! I was beginning to think I was the only one.

I try and keep alchohol out of the house at all costs so vodka is a no go. Probably TMI, but oh well. I have been using a pill bottle keychain to spin with a small bit of paper towel in the bottom, just wish it was bigger so I could do more than one at a time.
