1) Unlike a cigarette, drawing harder/faster does not give more vapor. Harder/faster draws gives you thinner vapor. Draw slowly for thicker vapor, as the ecig/mod/PV only makes so much vapor per second. How dilute do you want it? Adjust your draw technique to your own preference. Addendum: Remember you may have to adjust your draw technique with different gear. Some pass a lot more air, so be aware and ready to adjust your technique if you use something different or new.

2) Vapor is not instantly made like smoke is.
Vapor is produced from a coil of wire heating up a wick saturated with ejuice. This is not instant. The heating-up takes a second or more (depending on certain variables about the gear being used). So draw a little air (just a little) for the first second or two while the coil gets warmed up enough to make vapor. This is often indicated by a little cracking noise as the ejuice boils where it is in contact with the coil wire. Then draw at the volume and speed that works for you (see #1).

3) You don't HAVE to fully inhale to get the nicotine. But you can do so and get a bit more of it. Vapor is a large particle compared to smoke so it can't go as deep into your lungs. So you get a bit more by fully inhaling, but not much. Holding it in your mouth (where most of the nicotine will be absorbed) and then A) blowing it out through your mouth or nose, or B) inhaling it with (or without) adding air drawn through your nose are both valid options. Go with whatever works for you.

4) Be patient while you find what is right for you. Realize it is going to take time to find the right gear, the right technique, the right ejuice strength, the right ejuice type, and the right ejuice flavors... for YOU.

5) If you cough from vaping, give your body time to recover.
If you are getting away from smoking cigarettes, or still smoking them while vaping, you are going to be coughing. A month or three after you stop inhaling smoke entirely, you will finally be able to vape with hardly a cough. The cough is your lungs and throat being injured and/or irritated by the contents of the cigarette smoke. This takes time to heal. Hang in there, it will pass. Note: You will also have to cough up a lot of particulate matter in mucus (Gross, I know) during this healing time. It's unavoidable. It has to go. Headaches as your body detoxifies can also occur. Don't give up, it WILL get better, as you get better.

More information on these points is scattered around ECF, if you wish to read more.

Good luck and happy vaping!

Very well done. Great tips for new vapors.

The only thing I would add (only because it worked for my wife and I) is to take a day and really give it a try. Try not to pick it up and put it down right away just because it is different and light up an analog. Try to give it some time and think of it as, I owe it to myself.

I equate this to be like myself with peas. Don't try one pea and tell the wife you don't like them. Try to finish what's in front of you before you just give up. I hear to many people take one toot and say it's different and not even give it a chance.

Good luck

This is great advice! I know that i was very skeptical of vaping in general when my husband surprised me with my ego c-twist and a bunch of juices to try. It definately takes some getting used to, and is totally different than smoking an analog cigarette that I wasnt too sure I was going to like it. Believe me, it gets better and better.... And there are so many options to choose from! Just take is slow and have fun with it!!!

A bit of advice that I would add because it worked for would be to try a flavor that is not a tobacco flavor, if you're trying to quit analogs.
I am a full-time college student and did not want to quit smoking but the more I thought about it I really did want to quit for my health, but when I first started vaping I was using tobacco flavors and I was still smoking analogs. Although vaping cut me back to 3-4 analogs a day, I wanted to fully quit. I talked to one of the local vendors and he said his wife was the same way. He said that if you choose a flavor, such as your favorite dessert, you will associate that flavor with smoking and analogs will not taste good at all. I thought he was crazy at first, but it worked. I gave up analogs in 2 days and have been free from them for just over a month and a half. I have tried chocolate mint, pina colada and cinnamon red hot from this local vapor and just ordered caramel apple and pink lemonade from Mt. Baker Vapor.

Nice tip there. What ever works is fine.
I'd like to add a wee tip.
See if you hack on your vape. Try predominately VG mixes. Some people including myself cant do the PG vapes. I generally use 65/35 VG/PG mixes and this great for me.
PG=throat hit
VG=vapor production
Generally speaking anyway. Took me weeks before i realized this. So this may save you some time (and cough drops!)

I have to respectfully disagree. The whole idea for me was to transition to something like I was already doing. A bunch of weird flavors would have drove me straight back to cigs.

As I noted in #4, it's all about finding what works for you. And generally speaking, quite a few women tend to prefer different flavor profiles than quite a few men. As your tagline says you were a cigar aficionado, so the tobacco flavor types would appeal to you more. ca_girl2tx_girl (and many like her) may need something different to fixate on to help them make the break from analogs.

This was my experience as well. I bought a tobacco flavor and then a vanilla flavor...The first day, I found myself only vaping the vanilla because the tobacco flavor never quite tasted like my cigarette. It just made me want to taste my own analogs. I compare it to smoking Marlboro lights only and then bumming a Winston from someone...I hated other cigs that weren't my brand....So since I couldn't match my cig taste, I just went to more fruity flavors and haven't had a cig since.

Cheers

That's just inexperience with ecigs. It will pass.

Don't get me wrong, I love all the different flavors I have tried. It's when I initially quit, I tried the wife's e-cigs and the flavored juice did nothing for me. When I tried different tobacco flavors, I knew immediately that I could quit smoking cigars. And thank you for your comment. But I have to respectfully disagree with it as well.
