Me and the girlfriend both got vamo v3's last year and although mine has performed faultlessly hers had issuses after the 1st week or so. It would shut off and not respond for days then it would come back to life! This got more & more frequent until (after ordering a V5) it looked dead! So I knew u had to remove the top cap to get to the chip so I put the battery tubes on where the beauty ring threads on, got the head end in a work m8 vice and put a little pressure on. Gently it came and couldn't believe how easy it was! It turns out the soldiered negative wire is just onto the underside of top cap. By checking the chip with a wire first it lives on!! Although the soldier was still connected it just must have been a dry joint, sometimes shaking it would make it work before but not for long. Real funny behaviour that made me think it was terminal. Since pressing the end cap back into place (again using the vice and battery end cap to protect threads with wooded vice jaws) it has worked 100%. I should have taken pics but as it was a last ditch effort with little hope for a good outcome I never did. I would urge anyone with a lifeless vamo to give it a try. It seems solid but with a little force it does come off and there's not even a scratch!
