Ok, here we go: I flashed the wrong firmware on X-priv Baby. Now smok reads upside down, has two charge images; labeled A and B sharing the screen and then dies right there. Wait about fifteen minutes and it does it again. Otherwise i get nothing. I have tried many reset/button combinations and looked everywhere on the webz. Is my battle frought with peril?!? I have quit an understanding of these kind of things, but this one really has me stumped.. Anyone got a clue?

And please dont just tell me i got a piece of crap mod. need some advice.. thanks all.

Hi and welcome,
What unsolvable problem did you have that forced you to upgrade the firmware?

From the maker:
1. When do I need to upgrade my mod?
Once there is a bug, we will post a firmware which can fix the problem on our website. But here is a confusion, most people can't correctly determine whether a failure is caused by a software bug or a hardware failure.
So just recognize this: When your device has something wrong, and you can find the firmware of your device model on our website, then you can try to upgrade your device.

2. Do I need to upgrade my mod when I find there is a firmware of my device model on the website?
Actually not. Once the upgrade software is released, we will also use the latest version of the software on subsequent shipments. Which means there are just part of devices need to be upgarded.
So just recognize this: Only when your device has something wrong, then you can try to update your device.

3. Can I use the firmware of different model to upgrade my device?
Please don't do this! Your device will die! Even use G-Priv fireware to update G-Priv 2, or use RHA 220W to update Alien.

4. How can I get original firmware, or past upgrade firmware?

Please contact Customer Service Team : support@smoktech.com

Cheers

Welcome to ECF

Only solution I found that perhaps will allow you to reset. Use it at your own risk. I will not be held responsible for any harm to your device that results from this.

"Remove batteries. Using charging cable, plug into mod, and plug the larger end into a USB port on a pc. Once acknowledged, press and hold all the buttons at once for 10 seconds. Then unplug, insert batteries and it should work. If not, hit the fire button 5 times fast to turn it on."

Stay safe.

Hello there lzan, my 'unsolvable problem lies within myself, It was recommended by the person that gave me the mod. I was simply under the impression that an update was a regular thing. However i now sit curios.... I am able to do quite amazing things with my PC when it comes to cell phones. Why is such a feat so difficult with this mod. One more thought. Are the support team members at SMOK real people?. Judging by there website and its faulty coding i am a bit concerned. I am looking for the proper way to the solution not always the fastest. Thank you lsan. Youre swift attention has me intrigued. We very well may conquer this little problem here. Cheers!

I have seen this posted several places in response to this particular issue with the X-priv Baby. Thing is that every X-priv Baby ever created does not have removable batteries. Therefore one would think the connectivity bridge that you are attempting to gap by doing this method still exists throughout the procedure. That said, do you still think or know that i will work with batteries still in the device?

Because a smartphone has a very complex firmware with an operating system on top. These vape devices are much less complex, thus much less to tweak and customize. Besides, you can not flash a Samsung S10 with a Samsung Note 10 firmware, as in what you have done with your Smok device.

Best effort is to find the appropriate firmware for your device and attempt to flash it. Outside of that, willing to bet nothing can be done.

Smok is not known for their support and quality

Cutting the power source and performing a reset, resets any settings within a firmware - it does not reset the firmware to it's original version. You have incorrectly overwritten that original version - it's gone and ain't coming back unless you can manage to find said version, and flash the device with said version.

cheers! Sorry to hear about your brick.
I wonder if it's possible to rip the firmware from a working model and clone it onto the patient? Can you image a mod and flash the image to another? I don't know. Just spitballin'.
Anyway,
Shoot them an email at the support address. They (smok) may be able to help..or not. That may be your only course of action to obtain the correct firmware.

Best of luck.

Alright. I believe i got the original version of the FW. I now have black screen, no charge status, and a mod that got really hot (draining battery completely) and reset by doing the following:

1) USB to PC. Using the proper cable provided by Smok.

2) Successfully connect to PC with the softwares via holding the fire button and pressing the reset button next to USB port.

3) Used the reset function on the program. Green complete status.

4) Flashed the new (original) FW.
Green complete staus.

5) Disconnected from PC using the disconnect button in the program before unplugging USB cable.

6) Pressed fire button 5 times as per usual. Then many more times after that was unsuccessful.

7) Became very sad. Now unless this procedure is flawed. I think i am screwed. This device is a borrowed mod and i would like to keep it working if and when I get my own and need to return it. I have very little money and will find it difficult to replace. Am i going about this all wrong or what fellas??

Are you 110% sure you have the correct firmware? If you did not receive the firmware directly from Smok, I would be very suspicions. The device could also have had a hardware revision through out it's production which could dictate a different firmware.

The device getting really hot is a dangerous sign. Heat could lead to the cell going into thermal runaway - you definitely do not want that. These batteries hold a massive amount of energy, and when pushed beyond their limits, they can and will blow up! And do so without warning. This heat leads me to believe the device is either broken, or you have the incorrect firmware.

Sorry to hear about your financial state, and understand you would like to return the device in working order. But ask yourself if the efforts trying to revive it is worth the risk of serious injury?
