Hello everyone,

I am new to vaping (~2 weeks) and need some advice.

My current setup is Ego-T with standard and low ohm boge cartos, and dual coil 1.5 ohm cartos. I use NiteLIteVapor e-juices (Bounty Hunter, RY4, Caramel Corral and Vanilla).

I have one carto for each and top them off everynight (have not changed cartos yet). Initially, I got strong flavor profile but as the days go by, flavors are muted even though I top off each cartos. BTW, cartos are not burned out.

Do I need clean cartos even though I am using same flavor juice? How often? or am I just loosing my sense of taste?

thank you for your suggestions.

Some people clean cartos but you dont necessarily have to. Their made to be disposible. I use the Ressurectors and dont clean them. I get about 2-3 weeks with one Ressurector before the airflow is not as good and then I just throw it out and use a new one. Make sure you fill them correctly bc that will help make them last longer. I recommend using a syringe bc its quick and easy but the condom method and dripping in the top work as well. If youd like detailed instructions on how to fill with a syringe I can post it if youd like.
I would just use the carto and when your not happy with the flavor anymore or it starts to become clogged, then throw it out and start with a fresh one. You could try cleaning them though, thats up to you. Ive noticed though that sometimes when you clean cartos, they dont wick as well after a cleaning. Thats why I like just using a new one. I figure if you can even get 1 week use out of one carto then they are well worth the price.

Oh and I wouldnt recommend using 1.5ohm DCs on an eGo. Using them puts a LOT of stress on the mosfet and will eventually fry it, rendering it useless. Their not made to handle that low of a resistance. While a carto might say that it is 1.5ohm. Their not all necessarily 1.5. Cartos normally are +/- .2ohms than what they say they are. Thats why I would not use 1.5ohms. Their already too low and if you use one that happens to be closer to 1.2ohms, then your almost guaranteed to fry the mosfet, and turn your eGo into a paerweight. What ohm Boges are you using? If you want to use LR on your eGo, Id use the 2.0ohm ones. While even they can still potentially fry the mosfet, its a LOT less of a chance of that happening. Many people use 2.0ohm Boges on their eGos with no problems at all.
The SR cartos dont put as much stress on the eGo, but if you really like using LRs Id maybe consider getting a 3.7V device, like a Riva, kGo, or E-Power. They give a slightly warmer vaper and alittle more TH than an eGo and handle LRs much better.
I have an E-Power and love it. It handles any atty/carto I throw at it and a battery lasts a day to a day and a half for me using the "Ressurector" cartos, which are 1.7ohm LR. They also make a 1.5ohm LR carto that is designed specifically for the E-Power that holds over 5ml of juice if you like DCs. Plus E-Power batteries cost $4 compared to eGo batteries that are $14-20, and they last alot longer before they need to be replaced.

If your going to continue using low ohm cartos on your eGo, I would use a multimeter and check the resistance of every carto you use. That way you can really see what ohm the carto is at. That will help you catch a carto that is lower than its supposed to be, and could potentially save you from frying your eGo

I never clean cartos. No matter what you do the coil in any atomizer or cartomizer is going to develop a hard crust of charred juice. You can slow it down by never using juices that drop flavoring sediment but coils get gunked up and degrade. I have also never had a cartomizer die. They just degrade until I let myself have a new one.

(Note - there is a big thread about ultrasonic cleaners where somebody pulled the coils up out of CE2 cartos and subjected them to repeated rounds of soaking/flushing type cleaning then ultrasonic cleaning and in the end nothing got the crust off other than chipping it off by hand. So you can clean cartos and you may get the stuffing clean and you may be able to dry them well, but it's not going to help the coil)

I vape a pair - one Boge 510 and one KR808D-1 carto (usually Bloog or Vapor4Life WOW carto). After 2 weeks of use I decide if either is working well enough to do another week. The Boge usually will go another week or more, the KR808D-1 carto (which holds my sweet juice) has usually had enough near-singes to make me want a new one after 2 weeks of using it 1/2 the time. Sometimes I can get a 3rd week out of the KR808D-1. Once I got 6 weeks of 1/2 time use out of a Boge 510.

I do not clean them. I use cartomizers for their consistency. When I start a new one I want it to work like a new one, not maybe work like a new one. However, I know people feel dual coils are worth cleaning - more expensive and supposedly designed to be cleaned.

And some more carto info - little bits of singeing or near-singeing a carto will just kill the sweetness in a sweet eliquid. Singe is bitter and cancels sweetness. Non-sweet flavors and tobacco eliquids can survive a little bit of singe (or even be improved if a tobacco is a bit sweeter than you want).

As for general dulling of flavor
1 - the coil gets gunked up
2- if you use juices that drop flavoring sediment then the stuffing also gets gunked up and the coil gets gunked up faster, ruining airflow, flavor and drag more quickly

I use thin clear juices, no more than 20% VG. often 10% and some Vapor4Life WOW juices (seem like 10% VG or maybe thinned 20% VG).

You really should be explaining to new vapers that you're only vaping 2 ml per day otherwise when they begin and are vaping 4-5 ml per day they're gonna quickly run out of cartos and become disillusioned with their gear. As for myself vaping 4 ml per day and now on day 16 on a Smok Tech Mega DC 1.5 Carto and still vaping like new- taste and draw...not a recommendation to buy Smok Techs though.
