The first batch I made using Flavor Art Cowboy had a grassy taste initially, but diminished after a few days of steeping. Unfotunately, in my eagerness and tweaking, I didn't record the exact flavor percentage I used, but I thought it was around 5-6% with 2% EM added.

Not so lucky with second batch at 6% with 2% EM. After a week of steeping, it still has a prominent grassy taste to it. It's not unbearable, but definitely diminishes the taste quality.

Anyone know how the flavor percentage might affect this? Should I go higher or lower?

Hi!! I have tried the cowboy as well and to me it reminded me of tobacco Absolute. If you are looking for a tobacco flavor, I am in the process of making a honey flu cured juice. While doing so, I had used FA Desert ship at3% and 7 leaves at 1%. in a VG and water base. A nice tobacco flavor blended together:)
let me know what you think

Randy, I can tell you that I mixed batches of Cowboy at 2% and 4% and both had a prominent hay taste.

I'd go to 7% and then be prepared to steep it for 2-3 weeks, for a 15mL batch size. Larger batches seem to take longer than smaller ones.

If you are still getting the grassiness you could always blend it with some Perique Black or Dark Vapure; neither of these have much of a Hay taste.

Thanks for the responses, guys.

It's become more a matter of principle than necessity. "Wow" Cowboy from V4L had been my exclusive vape for over a year, so I'd hoped to replicate it with DIY. It's close, though. Ironically, the last batch I bought from V4L had the hay taste as well at first, but diminished over time.

I've also made up mixes of Maxboro and 7 Leaves, and Maxboro has become my favorite. I'm concentrating on single-flavors right now, but I want to try some "blends" later after I've tried a few more.
