So I’m pretty new to building coil’s been doing it a couple months of been on this thing lately where I’m trying to find what has the absolute best flavor without sacrificing cloudage lol I finally built a coil that has the performance I’m looking for I took two strands of 28 gauge Clinton camp al I took two strands of 28 gauge Kanthal And fuse/claptoned them together with a 36 gauge Ni80 did a 5 wrap on 3mm and it’s on point to my knowledge at least it reads .405 ohms 70-75 Watts is amazing flavor ! I was excited about it so I thought I’d share it I also have a question what is your go to coil billed for the best flavor you’ve ever had just looking for some input to give me some ideas on what to try next everybody have a great day and vape on !!!

My target resistance was always an overall 0.5 - 0.6 ohm resistance with simple coils.

I prefer a cooler vape. Never was a cloud chaser. I never saw much benefit to making complicated exotic coils. K.I.S.S. (keep it simple stupid). If you enjoy the hobby aspect of building exotic coils, go for it. ;)

Happy to see you found a build that you like.

At the moment i'm using a simple 24 Awg SS spaced dual coils at .22 and 3mm Id,excellent flavor for me with 0 spitback and great runtime with my batteries.

Running this in Tc mode with my gpriv 2 which works fine for me.
No interest of building fused claptons even though i do buy Ni80 ones from time to time.

I twisted 2 strands of 28ga kanthal. 7 wraps on 3mm mandrel. Dual coil set up ohmed out at .35=.37. I hit it in the 70 to 80 watt range. Rocks out the clouds. Flavor is right on too. This is on a limitless plus rdta

Most of my coils are mixed twisted wire in some combination. Right now I'm using dual coils in an Aromamizer Plus, 2x 26g kanthal and one flat wire (.8 x .1? ) twisted together, 7 wraps on 2mm rod, .22 ohms running at 77 watts. Big clouds and great flavor. Needs plenty of airflow.

Good job. It's always satisfying doing things ourselves no matter how hard they take. If you wanna go smaller, like 2x 30ga strands claptoned by 38ga (30ga*2+38ga), you may want to consider buying a ready-made 10' wire spool, especially for springy SS wires.

6 wraps SS on a 3mm coiler gives 0.64 ohms.

Nichrome triple core fused claptons 28+28+28/36.
Nice ! That’s exactlty what I made last night and it tastes amazing ! Little tiny bit of spit back but ahh adds to the flav ! So Out of curiosity what size do you coil around and how many wraps I’ve been doing 3 mm five wrap seems to be the best performance to me!

What Is the reason you space your coils out of curiosity I have done it and it doesn’t seem to change much but most of the tutorials they keep them tightly wrapped together, so I don’t know ?

The ID and wrap count of my coils depends on the wicking channels and deckspace of the respective tank, but most of the time it's 3mm ID with 4.5 wraps that works best for me.

I don't see any major difference in spaced or non spaced coils, when it comes to flavor, heat, cloudproduction or spitback. Spaced coils however are far less prone to hotspots. So if the deck has enough room and/or the airflow is wide enough to cover the whole coil, I like to build spaced coils, otherwise I go for contact coils.

I've heard it does alot but for me it's mostly because it seems to spitback less when i drip fresh liquid in, some say you get better flavor this way aswell but i mostly do it because SS seem to perform better that way.
I've tried spacing fused clapton coils too, with less success tbh those i prefer contact only.

In my experience spaced coils will not burn your cotton as much and are not prone to hot spots but do not give as dense a vape, or as much flavor, as a contact coil. Maybe this is just me...

ok So I just built some claptons single 28g kanthal wrapped in 36g nichrome on a 2.5mm wrapped 5 times evenly spaced at .629 ohms (way out of my norm~contact coils ranging .10 to .40) and wow I’m impressed they taste great and zero spit back. Lots of crackling and popping tho wich I like lol. The vapor is allot cooler and less dense wich is so so but the juice is lasting so many more puffs than normal it’s almost worth the thinner cooler vape but Overall the coils perform great like this thank you guys for the input I take every bit of advice and run with it. Vape on bros n sis’s !

If you like a take on twisted/fused and don't mind higher ohm coils, check out this wire from AVS:

Spooled Twisted Fused Clapton 316L SS (32gx3 / 40g)

This is a 32gx3 twisted SS and then fused with 40g. I picked up a roll of this a few weeks back and just got to playing around with it. Only wrapped one coil yet, but did a 3mm x 6 wraps that came out at about 0.64ohm.

I can run this at 25 watts (I usually vape at around 30w) and this is a really nice vape. Very dense vapor, nice and cool to me at that wattage. I vape DL, but think this could be a great wire for MTL vapers as well due to the higher resistance.

Haven't played with it much yet, but I do like this wire.
