For some reason, I cannot seem to be able to taste flavoring unless it is at least 30-40% of my juice. I've tried Lorann's and TPA.

I have no problem tasting juice from vendors, although it all seemed a little weak for me, hence why i started DIY.

I know IDEALLY you should wait 24 hours before vaping a freshly made juice, but I am extremely impatient.....would giving the juice extra time to blend increase the flavor I taste?

I've been off analogs for a month, so my taste buds should be well on their way down the road of recovery.

Anyone else have to use extremely high percentages of flavoring?

That concentration is indeed outside the norm as 15-20% is considred on the high side, well 20% is. 10-15% being the norm.

Yes juices require to sit for a day or two, before adjusting. I make all my juices 2 weeks to a month in advance.

When mixing a new recipe, it is possible to become saturated with the flavour and hence you are not tasting no more. That is why it is recommended to go back and adjust after 24hrs and again after 48hrs.

The process can be sped up, by heating the liquid in hot water. The results are marginal at best. Do not taste your wine before its time.

Most often flavours are mixed to order from vendors, and depending how quickly they have arrived, might not have matured into their full bloom yet, e.g weak or inconsistencies.

That being said, not all flavours are created equal, but your numbers are still considered high. I have recently received the tobacco flavours from HC (555 and RY4) which are weak, especially the RY4 as 40% doesn't cut it, and 50% is too much. The 555 around 17-18%. They have since pulled them off the shelf and are increasing the strength/concentration.

vg cuts down flavors very much. Try to add in some water or vodka to cut VG, so you aren't using as much.. probably cutting it with more amount of PG would be better.

I tried some flavors with VG only, and it was ridiculous how much flavor i needed to put in... so i put in

15% flavor
15% alcohol
10% water
30% pg
30% vg

it seems most people put in 80% pg/ 20% vg... but I am mostly addicted to the action of smoking.. so I must see lots of vapor. Seeing vapor is much more important to me than flavor. If u don't care about vapor amount, then just put in more PG

Not sure if this will apply to your situation or not, but if I use the off brand atty's I get little to no taste. I plug in a true Joye atty and I get better flavor and TH every time. And this isn't a little difference, for me it's huge! I have stopped buying the off brands all together for this reason. Hope it's as simple as that for you.
And just to be fair, I have read on here that others don’t have any issues with the non-Joye atty’s.

To the OP: I doubt we are in the same situation here, but I had a lot of sinus and ear problems as a child and I have found that it has effected the way I smell and taste things as I get older. Ive noticed that when I get 100% PG juices the flavor is MUCH stronger for me, and also yes letting them sit. If you eat and drink very flavorful foods while you vape that will really take away from flavor too. Hope you get this resolved. Cheers.

this is possibly affecting me too, I have chronic congestion and severe seasonal allergies, really should see the doctor about it

I don't think thinning the VG further will do anything but cut vapor...it's already too dilute with the addition of the flavors.
I guess I still don't understand the ratio you use juice/flavor. 20% flavor does seem overdone.
How do you mix, just one cart at a time or a 'batch' of say 10ml.
My suspicion is that you are working with no real 'recipe', so to speak....and do you use nicotine/VG, you are drastically cutting that as well when you add too much flavor.
VG does have a way of causing flavor to diminish, I use tobacco absolute for my flavoring, and it is essential to not cut that too much with grain alcohol, or it doesn't stand up.
Another thing you can do for 'flavor' fun is to just use your 'normal' VG/nic density to load the cart, then add the flavoring as a "top off" ~ when the flavor fades add more flavor. Remember to keep those carts exclusively for that certain flavor.
Or use your flavoring on a dry cart, add a few drops to one side, insert the cart and finish filling with your VG/nic juice. Either way will work.

I think Xanax is on the right track. Vapor is nearly exclusively tasted by the nose.

If your nose or sinus is clogged up, you will have little flavor getting to your brain.

Without texture and very little in vapor stimulating the tongue's receptors, the nose is it.

Cheaper than a doc and Rx and very useful is a Neti Pot. Not pleasing to use, but it does help to clear things out and get your full sense of taste back.

Hope everything else goes well with your mixing.

You need: eJuice Calculator v13: at https://www.filesanywhere.com/fs/v.aspx?v=89716a8960646eb99c6c

And to use this next link to figure out how to use the calculator once you download it if you cant figure it out: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...e-calculator-added-quantity-calculations.html

It implies that you may need to donate but just click on a different tab at the bottom of the spreadsheet and you will be golden. I use the VG calculator tab NON STOP to make sure all my amounts are correct. I'm trying to cut down on my nic so "winging it" isn't a good idea for me. I make 9.5 ml batches in 10ml bottles.

As for extra flavor I ONLY USE VG...and the concentrations stated on this forum are correct from my findings: and I consider myself one who likes extra flavor and extra TH!! I love sour and sweet from most favorite flavor companies....and I love 555 from HC!!!!!

Glad you are using good brands of flavoring!! Is it possible that you aren't measuring it correctly and you are actually getting less flavor than you think?

Also, it is possible too over flavor if you get strong strange bad tastes...like fumey or something??

If you haven't tried a flavor that has been rated 5/5 on this forum maybe you should try some of them. I haven't gone wrong with any of them...although I can't get any of the cherry flavors to taste the way I want them to yet (pickey about cherry apparently)...the rest are PERFECT!! I find TPA pear cant be messed up...YET. I don't know if that's your thing but try that out TPA Pear. I just got FA Strawberry and Peach and they are AMAZING!!!

One more thing. I vape with one of two things: a 510 atty direct dripping or a V4L 808 Premium Cartomizer....I find that flavors really stand out much better with the cartomizers...sacrificing a tiny bit of vapor...but you are using all VG...so not much vapor loss if you were going to add PG anyway. Thats just my experience.

When I DIY, I test the flavors with direct dripping and when I think I "have a flavor down" I put it in a carto to see if I'm correct or if its time to go back to the drawing board.

Try a carto maybe instead of attys??

If you find yourself vaping the same thing over and over your taste buds get very dull and yes, VG masks a lot of flavoring, if you want hardly anying vapor just for fun try just pg and no vg if you need vapor do a mix of the two. hope this helps.

I'm glad the .......s are working again, lolol
I do want to say tho, I use all VG, and almost all my mixing is more like 25-35% flavoring. Some have commented ewww how can you take that much, but that's what tastes good to me. As long as i'm enjoying it , I'm thinking I won't wanna go back to those nasty buggers I use to poison myself with. My advise is if it tastes good no matter what the % is, mix it up!!!! Vape it up!!!!! and enjoy!!!!!:vapor:

just got home from the doctors, had trying to get a handle on my allergy problems.....turns out in addition to chronic sinusitis, I have nasal polyps. CAT scan of my sinuses in the near future. Also got blood drawn for a RAST allergen test. And got prescribed flonase and clarinex. Hopefully those work. do NOT want to have to have a polypectomy. Stories I've heard sound absolutely terrible.

could there be even more flavor/taste for me in store??? I hope so :)
