Does someone have more info on this wire. All I can find is that it's a lower resistance wire. When I try to do a build following steam engine calculation it doesn't come out right. I don't want to guess on the build I'm shooting for. Thanks in advance.

do you use the 'custom resistivity' with steam engine?

if it's for tc, maybe it's just nickel

That's my problem I have no idea what type of wire it is.

well you said you tried to wrap it using steam engine, and that means you have to choose a material and profile from the drop down.

You work backwards. Try nickel from the drop down and see if that corresponds to what you got for your coil.

I used steam engine with regular kanthal as material on previous builds just fine but when I use the ftc wire comes out lower. I have built with nickel before so I know it's not nickel. Just don't want to be guessing on the build. Yes I do have an ohm reader.

So is it more resistance than nickel or less resistance than nickel?
There are only 20 choices in the drop down, and I'm sure a few of them will be close enough for your wire.
If you give the details and say what ohms it came out as, I am sure I can find a wire in the dropdown that will work.

You could just get a length of wire roughly the length you think a coil will need, insert it into an rda thats sat in your ohm meter and adjust the amount of wire between the posts untill you get the ohms you require, it doesnt have to be made into a coil, just a u-shape of wire from one post to the other

I might have gone about this the wrong way I was wondering if someone knew if this was some type of nichrome wire. I know wire is fairly inexpensive but just guessing at how much wire to use or building a coil then having to add or remove a wrap seems like kind of a waste of time and wire. I do appreciate the tips you both have given me.
