On the big naughty, mine just started to get hard the last week- after having it since Aug '16.

I used to just tighten it with the vape band. When the vape band slipped on the glass, that's where I left it.

Dunno what changed other than that I cleaned it well around then. I'm going to try a thin washer on it so it doesn't go down so far...
Wow, that's a long time to be free of issues! I think I only got a few weeks use out of the full size before it got extremely stuck.

Stop over tightening the base to tank.
It just has to be tight enough to prevent leaking/seeping from the base to tank gasket/seal.

Tighten the head to base as tight as you can get it with thumb & index finger, stops head from sticking in chimney.
Always make sure head is still tight into base when refilling, stops leaking into air chamber / flooding.

Doesn't matter with the Nautilus.. (both the standard and the mini, as I have both at my house), you can leave the base very lose when you close it, and by the time you have to refill, it's tightened up again. It's just the design itself which the threads just are positioned in such a fashion that it happens regardless. The only thing one could do is maybe put in an o-ring to create a block to prevent the metal on metal action that locks it down. But they've been ditched in a drawer somewhere and probably will only surface as a "hey! remember these piece of crap that were impossible to refill easily!?".

I tried to not over tighten but the tank leaked like a sieve. I don't think I have a natural ability with some of the vaping hardware. When it gets too hard, I just order new tanks (the GS air tanks were only $8 each).

Strange, auto tightening threads, like magic or something.

My wife & I have been using nautilus since they came out, never had any auto tightening effect happen. We have a dozen or so, never a single problem.
Whether you're using a glass or metal tank on a nautilus & it tightens down to contact the metal base causing it to bind, you're either way over tightening it or it needs a new base gasket.
Been one of the most leak free & hassle free delivery device's we've ever used.
Biggest problem with delivery devices is all the intermingled knockoff/clone pieces & parts cause all sorts of issues when used with an authentic.

I haven't bought any clones or clone parts. So, that wouldn't be the culprit.

Yup, magic, just not as magical as yours that don't have the problem that just about everyone in this thread reports having with theirs.

Funny you mention knock off parts. I did notice that there was a new gasket out for the bottom, where some of us get it stuck. It is shaped different right in that area. I think that I'm going to try one of those and /or an o-ring. First off, I m going to boil and flex the one I have now.

Because the Nautilus Mini has such a narrow base when you tighten it to a MOD you are grabbing the top and it is easy to over-tighten it when making sure it is tightened down on the MOD. Happens to me at times but even just grabbing it with a couple of paper towels folded over a few times will help get enough friction to loosen it up when my trusty Channel Locks are not with me.
