I have had a chance to try the M401, DSE901 and a M402, I have noticed that no matter what you do you will always get some of the fluid in your mouth. Which leaves me with two, questions.

1. Is there any why to reduce this from happening or completely eliminating this.

and

2. Are there any ecigs where the fluid can not be sucked into the mouth.

I never get fluid in my mouth (unless I don't pay attention) ...

You have to know the signs of fluid in the mouth ... things to check for.

1. Overfilling of the cartridge and seeing a puddle sitting on top can cause liquid in the mouth.
2. Liquid running the sides of the plastic cartridge piece that is inserted in to the atomizer. Make sure to wipe down.
3. If you are still getting liquid in the mouth, pull the cartridge out, grab a papertowel, and blow the liquid out on to a napkin. What this will essentially do is expel the excess liquid without blowing out liquid contained within the cartrige itself.
4. Make sure the cartridge end is always higher than than battery end. Gravity works wonders ...
5. Flooding the atomizer will also cause liquid in the mouth.

The only time I get liquid in the mouth is when I refill and don't pay attention to the sides of the cartridge. As soon as I see what I did wrong, I wipe down the sides and blow out excess liquid and I am good to go.

I've heard that it's more common with shorter ecigs for this to happen, something to do with the mouthpiece being closer to the atomiser.

I use a classic most of the time and hardly ever get liquid in my mouth.

I would have to agree. I always tend to get a bit of liquid in my mouth using the super-mini, not as much using the regular 901

DSE901 cart give me the most fluid in the mouth, not sure why, a few things I have tried are, to clean the inside wall of the M401 main cartridge and the out wall of the inner cartridge before use so that they are completly dry.

Also tried putting the airflow channel of the M401 directly over the wick hoping that any fluid that sprays from the pot gets blocked by the wick, and also leaving the e cig to stand upright for 10 minutes before using, so that excess fluid maybe absorbed by the wick and not roll over into the airflow channel.

Although these have helped some they do not completely solve the problem, as a new supplier I am finding this to be the number one reason that when people buy these ecigs you do not seem they again for cartridges, I think the fluid in the mouth really puts new usres off.

I would like so see some better filter designs that will not allow any fluid no matter how hard you suck into the teh mouth, any ideas?

i never get fluid in the mouth anymore...as the actress said to the bishop...

oh except for one...the only device i now get liquid in my mouth with is my ecigar...never with 901s...so much for size being a factor...

its usually user error of some sort...most of those have already been mentioned...but in my case i reckon its because my ecigar batteries are old and weak now...

make sure you dont overfill carts when the battery isnt up to it...

and dont vape lying on your back...

otherwise youre just sucking too hard...slow gentle sips mate...pretend the mouthpiece is a beautiful womans...earlobe...;)

I also had this problem with the 901, and after speaking to Steve who recommended the steps he mentions in this thread, I would also inhale slower. This was what fixed it for me, I was using an NPro before the 901 that I would inhale very quickly, so when I switched to the 901 I had to start inhaling slower, and the issue was resolved.

when a 901 cart is topped up its very easy to drip liquid down the little side flutes where the sucked air is drawn up.. any liquid that gets into these side flutes will be sucked straight into they mouth.. there is nothing to stop it being..

technically neat liquid should not get into the side flutes unless its dripped in or the cart is over wet..

atomizer dont spray by the way.. i can see why the name suggests it might do tho.. they just heat up and boil the liquid.. there is no spray..

sucking like h-ll on a half dead battery might have a liquid in the mouth effect..

with 901 batteries not an un-common event i would think..

My Njoy penstyle is the only one that has bitten me bad with this [up until 6am with the overdose effects]

I don't doubt user error at all - I was still pretty new and was using a brand-new, extra-juicy cartridge with a half dead battery and was gonna take one last monster toke before bed... little did I realize how far away that was to be...

My 901b's never hit me like that, and I like just that little kick I get from a tiny drop of the liquid. I resolved the penstyle issue by dripping it exclusively and it works great!

I've found the one-piece design with the single flute to get less liquid in it.

one hundred percent yep.. the two piece ones are f-cking useless to be blunt.. the old single piece ones much better in all respects..

i have big jar full of em from when i first started using the 901 and used carts before discovering topping up.. i saved em.. thow the old ones i have have a flute each side they are just bigger and easier to top up.. praps there are others i havnt seen..

I am going to try something today, will let you know how it goes, I am going to cut 0.5mm off the back end of a cigarette ...., and remove the inner cartridge of the M401 and then slide the 0.5mm thick part of the .... into the outter cartridge and then re insert the inner cart, just to see if this can act as a sponge and absorb any fluid that does make it all the way up the airflow channel before getting into the mouth. Think I will also have to remove the pin attached to the back end of the inner cart.

Mine came with a 901 set I got through Pakaday's bulk order from royalsmokers. I don't know if it's just the sets they come with. (It was a genuine DSE901 set, if that helps.) AFAIK these cartridges only come in cigarette .... colour, though.

Is it real bad for you if the fluid gets in your mouth?

No. With a poorly performing e-cig, it's good since you actually get some kind of hit. If you got heaps in your mouth you might get too much nicotine, but this is impossible (assuming you're a smoker) considering the tiny little carts. Maybe a pipe cartridge would be a different matter.
