I went to the pet store today and never realized there are so many types of Fluval and I know I must have got the wrong one. I bought Fluval Carbon Pad - it is black and kinda scratchy. Please help me with knowing which Fluval I am suppose to be getting - the store said I can bring this Fluval Carbon Pad back and exchange for something else, I just don't know what I should be getting. Appreciate any advice

this is my very first time writing on any thread. I have been experimenting with poly batting that my wife uses making her quilts, not bad but sticks to the wick after a time, used cotton batting (not good) and finally I am using a cigarette filter I cut off one of my analogs. so far it has not stuck on my wick and it is giving allot of vapor. I called tobacco hut this morning and you can get a bag in either 100pcs for $1.49 or 200 pc bag for $2.49

yes you are correct, they are for people who roll their own with little machines filled with tobacco, used to do it all the time. Anyway the cigs are available at tobacco shops all over, even in some head shops (you know where all the people looking for glass "tobacco" pipes go). The box they come in kind of resembles a carton of cigs usually with the brand name on it. I don't have any of these around anymore so I haven't tried it yet, but have thought about it.

Premier and Tops are two big brand names

here is a picture of a box... you can find them doing a search on google for "Cigarette Tubes"

Here is a link to an i-store that sells all different diameter filters.

I tried this on my 8084, and it worked pretty well after I got it sized right. Cutting it up to fit correctly was trial and error.

Does any one have the specs on the various cart diameters (510, 401, 901, etc.) that would match up. Cutting to length would be easy, but knowing the right daimeter to buy would be nice to know.

The nice thing about them is no hairy stuff to stick to the cart, should work good.

I had always heard that tobacco filters were loaded with chemicals - made with things that were harmful. I have no idea if this is true, just was always told this, do any of you know what the filters are made of or if there are chemicals in them? Thank you for any info, want to know for sure before I give them a try.

I don't think there is any chemical additive in the filters. I got the Premier ones that come in a bag of 200 and it fits perfectly in the 801 cart, just like it was made for it and it vapes very good, it does use a lot of jc though to fill but, i am assuming it will last longer, I will see how it goes.

Filters that originate with a cigarette - sure. Aftermarket filters - probably not.

I use Fluval. It can be tricky. I dissected my 510 filter and cut a bit of fluval to the same size. A little goes a long way. The good thing is that one box of fluval glass polishing stuff will last a year or more :p

You may want to look up the coffee straw mod which is around here somewhere. How you do this is get a simple coffee straw, cut it at a 90 degree angle then cut the other end to fit inside your cartridge. You want the flat top of the straw facing up, about 1/8th of an inch below the top of the cartridge. It will not melt. Then, settle your fluval around it and fill.

The straw will funnel the liquid to the bottom of the cart, which means you can fill the whole thing more efficiently. You also don't need to fill as often.

There are detailed instructions for this somewhere around here in the DIY section :p Probably the mods.

Faethe,
I got the Fluval2 yesterday and I have tried, in a 901 cart,
Pad intact, cut to fit
Peeled layers, various thicknesses down to REALLY thin, and then either rolled or folded to place into cart.

All my attempts would not wick. All attempts would fill very easily, really suck the juice right up. But when I went to vape I would get from 4 to 5 exceptionally good hits and then nada. Plenty juice in the Fluval but it absolutly would not wick down.

Be so kind as to elaborate for us exactly how you are preparing and filling your carts with the Fluval.

Huge TIA :D

Anyone have a link for the Fluval. I see that no link has been posted on this thread.
Any link to the right kind of Fluval?

This is where a previous post led me for purchase rejoice

I found something out. I use the water polishing pad. If I cut it small enough to fit into my 510 cart without having to squish it together it works great. I was able to get 18 drops in a flat cart and it worked great. after about 2 fillings, and mine gets completely dry I turn the fluval with the other end in and do 2 more. Then I put a new one in. It works amazing.

Nah, I think the issue here in Canada was that you would be inhaling very tiny articles of fibre glass or something, but also, anything that is actually ignited, can become a carcinogen, so I assume that that was an issue for people who smoke right to the filter, burning a small portion of it
