fluxo killed battery, - was recommeded and everything

ok about 3 weeks ago i bout 2 packs of fluxomisers, i filled them up how they should be , puffed on my FIRST one for maybe a day , i charge the battery then clean the contacts put the fluxo on my eGo battery, push the button down, the light turns on and stays on, then the ring around the light got burning hot. nice right?

So i sent them a message and get a one lined response saying there is no way they can know the fluxo killed it, and they have never had any reports of this. so yesterday my wife as normal takes her battery off puts in on the charger and gets her spare for vaping for the night, but when she took the fluxo off and put it on the spare, the light went on and killed the battery, same story, she then gave me the fluxo and i went and grabbed her battery that was on the charger, as soon as i put this thing on the charger, after cleaning the contacts, it did the same damn thing.

so i CANNOT be told that these fluxos DONT kill batteries and for them to not only not say something on their website prior, but to treat me like im only a $ sign is some bull. ive been vaping for over a year and a half now its not like i dont know what the im doing.

i guess ill go back to freedomsmokes, ms t's and the other places that give a damn about customers. i dont even know why their a forum supplier, they dont seem to be about community, just money

Not exactly sure how it can kill your battery seeing that for as long as they have been around, your the only person to ever experience this from my knowledge. It could be many other things causing this. But anyway as for the customer service goes, Gotvapes has good CS. And there very active here on the forums as well, can't count how many times myself or others have been helped on here or via email.

Have you seen the sticky post called MEGA contest thread? Have you seen how much free stuff they have given out? I'm guessing no since you seem to think all they care about is money.

I have to say I agree with Mikey3. Also, I do believe you have every right to bring up a problem...but I have to disagree with your assessement of bad customer service...Gotvapes has always been responsive and active here on forums and other ways to communicate with them. I have never heard of a fluxo killing any of my batteries.....ego, stick style, manual, auto, glv2 or any other pv I have had.
I have to say..Thank You Gotvapes for products I completely can depend on and customer service that has always been helpfull to me.

Been using fluxos for a while and never had anything remotely like this happen. Maybe its your charger? I have had that happen. Anyways, sorry you had this happen. Did you follow the instructions in the sticky for help desk? That would be the place to talk to them about it. Or review of suppliers, negative. Not a whole lot they can do or say about this in this part of the forum.

Don't think it was the fluxo that killed it, I've had eGo batteries do that with out any cartos or attys on it. How old was the battery? Oh and shock threads will not get you any where.

Lezil, I am not too clear on what you said: are you saying that you used two separate Fluxes and two separate batteries died? Or did you use the same Flux on two separate batteries? Did you measure the resistance by any chance?

It sounds to me like you've had a short. I had the same thing happen with a regular Boge carto: put it on an eGo, the batt got very hot, all the LEDs went bananas, etc. I took the carto off the batt immediately, guessing it was a short. I didn't have a meter at the time, tho. After that I bought a ProVari, which measures resistance - if I didn't, I would have gotten a meter. I now check all my cartos for shorts before I put them on my batts.

A short can happen in any carto, though I'd be surprised if it happened in two separate Fluxes. Like Mikey3 said, this would be a first. Fluxes have been pretty reliable, all things considered. They never leak, and since I started measuring resistance, they've all been within tolerance.

But anything is possible, I suppose.

Anyway, if you could give a fuller picture, perhaps? One Flux, or two, or three? How do you clean contacts, btw?

As for GV customer service, I found it beyond reproach so far. The gentlemen who run the company respond quite quickly usually, are often present on this forum, and are very approachable. I've been helped out of my ignorance on how to use these gismos both in person and in this forum a number of times. So don't judge too harshly until you've had more experience.

It is quite true that they had no way of knowing what happened to your first batt. Batts can die for all sorts of reasons. It is also quite true that this seems to be the first case of it's kind...

No offense - I'm sure folks here and at GV would like to help you if they can.

I've been using fluxos on various model PVs since before GotVapes was even around. Badkolo and me started playing with them before there were XL models. I've used every variation of fluxo/CE2 that's ever been released. I have NEVER had a fluxo kill anything. Even a shorted flux wouldn't kill a half decent PV because the batteries or the switches would have a safety cut-off. This is not a fluxo problem and GotVapes doesn't owe you anything. Figure out where your problem really is and I would recommend not cleaning another battery until you do.

Nope, wouldn't happen. Two reasons, a fluxo with a coil short enough to short out wouldn't be long enough to wrap a wick and a shorted fluxo would simply trip a protection circuit in the PV or cause a battery to explode, not die.

Cleaning a battery on the other hand could kill it. If he's using a liquid cleaner and the liquid seeps into the cells it could destroy them.

I have seen poly cartos shorted at the base short out the regulator so it could happen with a flux.

Sounds like a crappy design. I've shorted atomizers before and never damaged anything.

He said ego battery so if it is a joye ego I have seen many of these with a failed reg just from using lr so a short would easily burn the reg. I wouldn't blame GV for the bad flux if it was bad It happens. I would blame joye for faulty protection circuit....

I have a couple Joye Tech eGos and thankfully never had a problem with them. I use my ePower exclusively now, but Joye's eGo was my third PV and longest running. If they actually fail that easily, I'm very disappointed in Joye...

No offense, but the first part of this statement doesn't make sense, technically speaking. A short has nothing to do with the coil. The coil, if made out of correct material, either provides resistance, or, if broken, provides an open circuit, which is nothing more or less than infinite resistance - in other words, no current can flow.

A short occurs when the current bypasses the normal, resistive, path, and flows along something with a lot less resistance than provided for by the design. It can be anything from a drop of water to a piece of metal caught between the leads below the coil - anything with low enough resistance stuck in the wrong place could do it.

So a short can occur in any cartomizer under the right (or wrong, as the case may be) circumstances.

As for the protective circuitry of the battery - this, too, can fail. Like I said, this has happened to me with a Boge carto. The battery got extremely hot the instant I screwed in the carto - just from the most basic knowledge of how these things work, this was most likely from a short, and the protective circuitry failed. As it happened, I removed the carto almost instantely. The battery did not, quite, die, as I feared at first. It's just flaky - the LEDs are demented.

I do think, though, that had I not removed the carto so fast, it very well might have blown up on me.

Either that, or if any liquid remained on the contact of the battery, it might have gotten into the carto and shorted it out. That's why I was asking how he was cleaning the thing.

Edit (p.s.): I would agree that, reading of this happening to a number of eGos, the fault really lies with under-engineered protection circuits. I've actually read at least one report where an eGo blew up. That's why I check all my cartos before I put them on an eGo.

I would point out, just to reinforce the point: this is the first time we hear of a possible Fluxo short (maybe, possibly, not proven), whereas there are a number of reports that suggest failing protection circuitry in an eGo.

I've been using fluxo's exclusively on my pv's, including an ego for months now, and I've never had a problem w/fluxo's shorting out... As a matter of fact since they came out w/the DeLuxes, my only problem is what color to order ...

Now as far as customer service. Gotvapes has some of the best customer service I've ran across on this forum. They actually care about their customers. I've had things replaced that I didn't think needed replacing, just posted a "Need help to fix" thread. To me that doesn't sound like all they care about is $$. They truly care about their customers and stand behind their product. These things are mass produced so there will always be some that slip thru qc checks. It's how they handle those issues that matter to me, and from my personal experience they go above and beyond...

Sounds to me like user error once first problem occurred. From what little information you have provided, you keep putting the same fluxo on diff batt's.?. Did you try a diff fluxo??? Different charger?? How old are your batts?

It's not what you say, but how you say it. If you come off belligerent and indignant over something that may not even be the vendors fault, why would/should anybody want to work w/you??? If your post is any inclination of your approach why are you surprized?

If I am correct, the threaded portion of the base connector is one polarity and the center portion is the other.


I would inspect those Fluxer's for damage to their base or incorrect assembly that would short the center to the outside ring...If assembled without the black rubber gasket/insulation material THEY are the cause for the short circuit.



Also, I have seen an Ego atomizer that was used in a manner for which it was not designed which caused a dent on the outter ring of the connector causeing a short circuit. I wish I could find the picture.


Me thinks I'll find a way to rig a voltmeter....
