So my uncle(from Toronto) is visiting me here in California. He wants to quit smoking and really likes using e-cigs. My question is does anyone have experience taking nicotine juice in your luggage(not carry on), and not getting hassled by customs when returning to Canada? I mix my own juice, and will probably set him up with a ego twist/varient, and a ton of nicotine juice(in <100mL bottles) IF customs doesn't mess with it.

Yes I have read that Canada is a 0mg zone per say, but I just wanted to ask anyways regarding the nicotine.

Thanks ahead of time to whoever can help!

There are several threads going here that will help. Here's my own experience (posted a few days ago).

---

I've flown between Canada and the US several times in the last few months. No problems with customs (either way). I put all my stuff in a clear little tackle-box thingy (EVic, spinner batteries, protanks, coils, etc.). I pull the tackle box out of my backpack at security and place it in the plastic bin along with other electronics. I put my e-liquid in the standard zip lock bag they give out -- along with any other liquids.

They have never asked about the e-liquid. They sometimes point to the Evic or the protanks and ask what they are. I say "part of my electronic cigarette." They nod and push the bin into the x-ray machine.

The only problem I've had on planes is leaking tanks and bottles due to the change in air pressure. My best advice is to open your tanks and e-liquid bottles during ascent and descent or you will have a slippery mess when you land.

Finally, it seems washroom smoke detectors on planes will not be set off by vaping -- wouldn't try blowing clouds into the detector, but a quick vape seems fine.

---

In addition to lots of great online vendors in Canada, there are some brick & mortar stores in Toronto now, so even if he doesn't want to bring juice back (a couple of 30ml bottles is fine), he can find juice in Toronto.

Hope that helps.

One more thing... although you might be able to get "a ton" of juice back into Canada in his checked bag, I'm not sure I'd want to try. I've been known to put a bottle of scotch in my checked bag (not smuggling, I always declare it when I land in Canada), but it seems they always open the bag and check before it boards the plane. If they find several 100ml bottles of unmarked liquid, he might have a problem.
