For those clear tanks on the Herons I used a razor and cut a 10ml juice bottle down. They actually fit nice and snug but you have to cut the to the right height, if they are too tall the air post won't seal with the deck properly and cause some leaking.

I never used fluff in my Herons, I've always wicked them with Rayon and left a fluffy tail into the juice chamber. It doesn't leak and the rayon wicks it beautifully.

Mine has started dribbling at the 510 connector. Can't figure out what I might've loosened to make it do that. :(
Not a lot, just enough to make it not fire after awhile.

Some rudimentary Dimitri porn. Built a light box this afternoon but still have to work out my lighting situation. I currently only have one desk lamp and have to light just from the top of the box right now. I'll pick up a couple of more lights for the sides of the box. I am also shooting with my iPhone until I can find the tripod for my camera.

You know what you can do in the meantime is put a small board covered with aluminum foil on the other side. ;)
What type bulbs are you using?

Also, if you have Photoshop or some other photo editor, you could play with "Levels" and get rid of the "foggy white overcast."

Your photo shots look better than the pictures at Focal and Fastech, great job bro :)
Better watermark your images else they be stolen by nefarious vendors ;)

I only have CFLs and old school incandescents laying around so I went with the CFL. I'm going to Wal-Mart tomorrow to get a couple of more lamps. What kind of bulbs should I be using?

That's a bummer. :( It's gotta be the insulator on the positive post, that's the only thing I can think of that can cause it to leak through there.

Dunno... I was just curious. I started out with CFL and my stuff came out kinda flat (I like drama). So when I transferred those pics to my new mac, I ended up deleting them in disgust. But duh, I probably could've photoshopped them some.

I think CFL is the norm for home-made boxes, but I'm gonna try some LED spots from eBay, just to see. LEDs are directional with narrower beam spreads and CFLs are diffuse (light just goes all over the place) - I think I'll be happier with the LED spots, if I ever get them in. Same thing with halogen spots vs regular incandescent.

In the '80s when I used to get promo shots with my band, I remember the studio being really really hot, so they must've been using halogens.

Thanks for the tips. I usually do some post-processing in my image editor but left these alone. I think I may get these for the sides of the box. Good option?

Would anyone have a coupon code? Looking to do my first order with them. Need some zero SX sleeves. Any issues send ing to Canada from the U.S. warehouse?

Thanks for the help

A

Coupon codes don't work for US warehouse items. If you order anything from China, use code FCVAPINGCHEAP.

Those are good for the sides, but if you ever had to do overhead lighting, they would probably be troublesome. Plus, unless you plan to raise them up on bricks or something, you wouldn't be able to have them up high and pointed downwards. They'd be limited to lighting from the sides. :2c:

I have these:

Bought them for $5 each from Craigslist. But I'd probably have to redo my island lights to light from above.

I'm good on the top lighting, just need the sides. I'll hit up Wal-Mart and peruse the selection for side lighting. I like the ones Weezy posted. I may build a tubular frame so I can clamp lights wherever I want them.

This is my current set up - white muslin over a big, heavy duty laser printer box:

Yeah, that's what I shoulda done. The goosenecks I have are a PITA when you wanna get down low. And eventually the goosenecks won't stay in place. :(
