yep I also do that with my tanks. I just had a week of hell dropping down to 6mg from 12 so instead of using my tanks and hitting them constantly all day long I decided to use my drippers to take big hits. turns out I can hit them a lot less I used a dripper 4 hours ago and I still don't want to vape yet. I'll try my tanks when I do but if it doesn't do the trick I can always fire up a dripper. I'm getting nice deep lung hits and good throat hits at the sub ohm lvl.

Awesome keep with it Its really only as hard as we make it. Vaping is a great substitute, if you let yourself believe in vaping helping you quit it does work very well. I almost didn't buy into it after having the Blu E cig failure, I just figured its all the same. It certainly is not, Not by a long shot. IMO Blu cigs and the many other ciga-likes shouldn't even be classified vaping. They should just be know as electronic cigarettes.
Today I decided to plunge in to my drippers I pulled them all apart, and rebuilt them all. I got to tell ya folks I'm loving the vapor. I built 5 RDA's using 26g - 28g kanthal Here is the run down.
Smok Caterpillar duel stovetop coils .15 ohms Vapes like crazy and flavor is SO damn good.
Patriot Duel Nano Dragon coils .40 Ohms Vapor is good and flavor exceptional.
IGO W Duel Diamond coils .40 Ohms Vapor good and flavor is slightly better the kayfun
Trident Tricro coil 1.2 Ohms Vapor is good and flavor also very good.
Zenith Twisted bunnies Vertical Quad Coil Build at .20 Ohms Vapor is awesome and flavor is damn good.
My favorite is the stovetop duel coils in the Caterpillar this thing kicks some serious vapor out and has tremendous flavor. I have been able to take 3-4 nice hits from these drippers and be completely satisfied at 6mg nic. level. This is just another little trick I found to help me get through the rough patches I cant wait to see how well it will do tomorrow. I'll have all day to see if they work for me with so few hits.

I think the next step for me is an IGO-L; doesn't cost much at all, it's simple, and would allow me the simplicity of a single-coil, which is by far my preference, yet let me investigate the "real" kind of dripping. I sure wish I could find an IGO-L with a brushed rather than polished stainless finish, though. I've seen some other RDAs that look really nice, but they have so many things sticking out of the deck, I have no idea what to do with all that.

And I sure won't be using any sub-ohm coils. :D

My kids and I got wife/mom an iTaste V3 for mothers day and few tobacco based flavors. Her first day she felt like she still needed to have 5 analogs and today 4. Hopefully the countdown will get to 0.

When I started counting, I was at 15 a day; over the next 3 wks, it went to 2, and then 1 a day. Doesn't really matter how long it takes, as long as it moves in the right direction. :D If she feels at all pressured, she may dig in her heels, as so many smokers do -- in the dictionary under "stubborn" there's probably a picture of a smoker. ;) But if she really wants to do this herself, for herself, then this is by far the very best way ever invented.

don't feel intimidated by all the posts all they are is binding points for your coil. just as the kayfun has. If you haven't seen the Smoke caterpillar then check it out here SmokTech Caterpillar RDA - MyFreedomSmokes.com It performs flawlessly and its nice looking Brushed stainless with some gold accent bling. Airflow is from tight to wide open, and the cost is rite. it uses 3 posts for single or duel coil, For $10 you cant beat it. Mine had the authentic code that checked out as authentic. I did try it out with the coils that were mounted to it and it hit pretty good. After I rebuilt it, it now hits like a train. If you can build the Kayfun this one will be no problem for you. it uses holes in the binding posts to slip the wires through and they tighten down nicely with the thumb screws or screwdriver.

Today using the drippers has been a piece of cake on 6mg I get 3-4 good hits and I'm good to go for like 3-5 hours. my only guess it with the increase in vapor I must be getting all the Nic I need in just a few hits.

Ok, well I love MFS, I'm looking for an affordable RDA, that one is very nice looking, and I'm always open to learning something new, but tell me this... how, and to what, do I attach a single coil? Got any pics, of a single-coil build on it? That would be PRICELESS, if you do! There are a couple others with the 3 posts that I like a great deal, but I just don't know where to attach the coil, or how... The Kayfun is very straightforward!

Thx!!

An update on my PG/VG issues... I think I mentioned that I was having a problem recently with foot/ankle swelling... So, I ordered some of my regular Virginia in MFS's VG blend instead of my usual PG blend; I read in a few places that one of the possible side effects of PG, or too much PG, could be that kind of swelling, since that kind of swelling *can* be a symptom of dehydration, and god knows PG causes that, in spades. So I just got done mixing up some of the VG-blend into my regular, so I think the resulting mix probably came out about 60%PG/40%VG, which is a good deal of VG, for me -- my usual is about 85%PG/15%VG. This Kayfun provides such a great throat hit, that I don't really taste or feel any difference in the vape, though there does seem to be a bit more vapor. :thumb:

Hopefully this will help me get this swelling problem under control, because the swelling is so bad some days, it hurts the back of my leg, just above the ankle.

Ok look at the pic I added you will see an atomizer with 2 coils one red one yellow
th25VND2XE.jpg
this would be a duel coil set up, the center post is always the positive and the 2 outer posts are your negatives. so what you want is one end of the coil going into the pos post and the other in the neg post like the red coil, that would be a single coil design.
now if you wanted to add another for duel coil you can see the yellow coil in place both red and yellow coils have there own Negative post but they share the positive post through the same binding hole.

yep some have holes you thread the wires through then tighten the screws down to lock them in place. Some just have the screws you wrap the wire around and while holding the wire in place you tighten the screw. Here is a little trick I learned for the screw wrap type if you build your coil and lay it where it goes on the atty wrap the wire in the direction the screw tightens so that would be from left to right. start the wire around the left side of the screw and wrap it towards the right hold it in place and tighten the screw. you can also just wrap completely around the screw. I do that for the kayfuns because the screw head is so tiny. The ones that have the holes in the posts are easier IMO just slip the wire in and tighten the screw very simple. The wire wrap type can be a pita, but get easier with practice.

I have been smoke free for almost two weeks and have been vaping since I quit the analogs. After a little research I purchased a Halo Triton and have been pretty happy with it. Im having a hard time finding juice that I really like. So far have almost exclusively been vaping Tribeca 12mg made by Halo. I have ordered other flavors from different companies but nothing so far seems to have a flavor that I can really enjoy. So far I have tried a few from Halo, Killer Juice banana milkshake and shamrock shake. Any suggestions on where I can buy good, strong tasting juice?

Also, although I have been very happy with Halo, is the Triton considered to be a decent starter? Just curious because I read alot of the posts on the forum and it never seems to be mentioned.

Thank you
Jeff

I think it is pretty decent; I was considering it, at first, before I decided on the cigalike "eRoll" from Joyetech.

Finding a flavor to really love can be very challenging indeed. What kind of cigarettes did you smoke? After a while you may want to get away from tobacco type flavors, many do, but at first something similar to what you previously enjoyed can be very helpful.

Congrats on the nearly-2-wks!!! I just hit 11 weeks and I am delirious! WOOHOO!!! Getting close to 3 months now!

Really good story OP. I've been having the exact problem as you specified at the end. WHEN TO STOP VAPING! I've been about 5 days analog free, "Half pack a day smoker for about 6 years" and I never know when to put down the vape. I originally started vaping to save money, but at the rate I'm going it's possibly going to be the exact opposite. I catch myself vaping about 4mL a day which is about half the price of a pack of cigs, which is about exactly what I was spending on cigs every other day. The hardest part for me has been denying analogs when people offer them to me. I guess it's just a mental battle from here on out. Best wishes to everyone else trying to quit smoking.

Thanks for the support and congrats. Exactly on point about wanting to try a different way of smoking by vaping. I have three weeks today and your story matches mine on how I did it. The cigarette after a meal is what was the hardest part to be honest, but like you said, a deep lung hit or two or three and the craving sort of goes away. Im glad I made it this far. A day at a time we can all stop stinking.

It's funny, I really expected the after-meal smokes to be the hardest for me, too, but I actually found them the easiest of all. After I eat anything, the throat hit is so extreme that I have to turn down the wattage a bit, and the throat hit is the main thing I'm after to make substitution really possible. Even now, if I find I'm not feeling much throat hit, I find something salty to nibble, it doesn't have to be very much, and that brings back the throat hit so I feel satisfied.

I found the 1st smoke of the day to be the hardest one to ditch; it takes so much longer to get the nicotine satisfaction from vaping, and in the morning, you're basically starting from scratch to get your nic level to a point that's comfortable. In the morning I also have to pay very close attention to vaping "properly" -- slowly, hold in mouth/throat/nose -- rather than trying to "smoke" in short fast hits. That's the time of day when I need higher nicotine, to help me get that nic level up to a point where I feel satisfied. And really, just letting go of the idea that smoking is an option. Once I took it completely off the table, it became a lot easier. Just letting go of it is a huge relief.

I'm feeling the same way with the first vaping of the day, glad I'm not the only one!

I'm feeling the same way with the first vaping of the day, glad I'm not the only one!

Yeah I tried for 3 days before I was finally able to have a smoke-free morning; it took me those 3 days of trying to avoid the cigarette, trying to vape myself to satisfaction, to realize I just wasn't doing it "right" -- but the morning I finally managed it, I purposely would take a small hit, and just hold it in my mouth and throat till it started trickling from my nose, before I would inhale/exhale. After about a half-hour of that, I felt fairly satisfied, at least the danger of smoking felt averted, so I kept doing that, all thru cooking my breakfast, and then by the time I ate, I knew I had finally, really quit, because as I said, after eating, the throat hit is tremendous, extremely satisfying.

The real kicker, for me, is that as much as I love and crave throat hit, when I first awaken, I really can't take *any* throat hit, without the old cough-up-a-lung routine. So I had to mix up a custom "morning mix" for myself, with higher nicotine, but almost zero TH, so I could really go to town on vaping to build up the nicotine level, without the usual morning coughing up routine. So I vape at about 11mg nicotine for about 30-60 mins, at a very low wattage (6w), get over the touchiness of my throat by gradually increasing the wattage, and then go to my regular daytime 9mg Virginia with good TH (I customized that level too, since 12mg is too high for me for regular use, but 6mg just leaves me puffing constantly).

I just had to find the way to be happy and satisfied with vaping instead of smoking; even though it's a bit of a pain to have to be so conscious of nicotine level and what a particular vape will do to my throat first thing in the morning, it's a huge relief to mostly avoid that old morning cough-up-a-lung thing. That got old about 20 yrs ago. :D

Stag: the hardest part for me is the mental game. Vaping seems to be the homerun for getting enough Nicotine to keep from being irritated. My work at times can be intense, I seem to be the only tech able to fix anything so I'm pulled in 50 directions at once. Temptation to smoke is everywhere and nags me to death at times. When things seem to be closing in, I remember who is in control and walk away, I gain a new perspective and reenter the fray with better ammunition. Stay committed to the fight my friend find the ammo to use so you keep the advantage. Walk away gather your thoughts and come back stronger. I keep thinking Improvise, Adapt, Overcome that's the Marine in me, and its sound advice for everything in life.

Built4feel: Sometimes its the simplest things that get us through. I find things that help mostly by necessity I would have given up if I hadn't tried deep lung inhales. I spent my whole life mouth to lung inhaling analogs, even though I smoked Mary Jane by lung inhaling. I never even considered doing that with analogs, Probably a good thing I didn't.

Necrotic: My brother I feel that my buddies smoke and its tempting, but I have to do this so I stand strong. My friends don't even offer anymore they know my answer. I even had a few forget and ask me for one. lol I hand them my vaping device and say here you go have at it. A couple have been converted but the force is strong in some of my buddies. One claims he will never quit because its the fastest way to die before his wife, lol simple man he is. I want to outlive the wife so I can get me one more honey before I leave this earth.;)
