People talk about their ADV (All Day Vape)
This for some reason works for a few.
But ... sooner or later here comes the vapers tongue.

As long as you are switching flavors throughout the day, you don't have to worry about it.
I have 4 different mods going with 4 different flavors and I only use one for about 5 minutes before I grab a different one.

What happens is the "flavor" really comes from your nose (olfactory glands).
You mouth only tastes sweet, sour etc.
Like having a cold and you can't taste the flavors.
Anyway .. using the same flavor all day gets boring to your mind, and it then shuts the flavor out, like white noise.

Have you every been in a house with an unpleasant odor? ...
Have you noticed that if you stayed there long enough, you didn't notice it anymore ??
Same thing ... brain gets bored with the same-o.. same-o and turns it off.

Some people lose it for days, some for weeks.
There are things you can do to shock the glands back into service, like taking the lid off of the coffee can, and breathing the fresh fumes of ground coffee, scrubbing you teeth and tongue, eating hot peppers, sipping pickle juice ... vapers have tried it all.

Just keep a rotation going and you'll be fine.
Variety makes for better vaping anyway.

This rocks. I hadn't thought about it this way. Looks like I'll be ordering some new tanks tomorrow so I can screw a new one one every couple of hours. I believe I have experienced this vapers tongue you refer to and its the reason I keep sneaking a stinkie in. Thanks for the great explanation.

Thank you for your great post Joe. I'm been using my e-cig for about four months. What amazed me when I first started with it was the fact that I did not miss cigarettes at all and there was no desire to have a cigarette. After a short time I lost my cough, my mucus and the terrible taste in my mouth was also gone. It was like a miracle. I have the KK model which I believe is built in China. The first one I bough didn't last long and I had to buy another one. I've also had to by new ends for it which is much cheaper than buying a whole new one. I wish it was built in America. The problem is, I really enjoy smoking my e-cig. I don't smoke it often. I smoke it more if I have a beer. Because I enjoy smoking it so much and because I seem to have no ill effects from it, I have decided not to quit smoking. I know it must still hurt my health but no where near as much as cigarettes did. Just my two cents worth. Take care my friends.

Today marks 6 weeks for me Smoke free, and its about that time to change to a lower Nicotine level I will be getting my order of Nicotine tomorrow so Ill be dropping to 5mg and making my own juice from here on out. I must admit this past week had a couple days when I got stressed out at work and I thought Hmm nothing an analog wouldn't sooth. I vaped hard during those times and went back into what I was doing with more concentration the urge passed fairly easy. I am proud of myself for not giving in. I am also glad I had those feeling and was able to work it out is just reinforces my resolve to remain a non smoker

Yes it's very good to successfully pass one of those phases, I agree wholeheartedly. Once you pass one, you know that it will never be quite that hard again, and it's not. It's so much easier with the vaping, but I also found the same to be true with my sobriety; I suffered the occasional pang and strong temptation probably until I had been sober for 6 or 8 yrs, but since then, not really at all. If the thought shows up, as they invariably do, I just allow it to go on its merry way, as I give my attention to something else. The main thing seems to be that you just don't give yourself the option; it's just not on the table. It's really kind of a relief, to just shuck it and not torment yourself with those "what if..." thoughts.

Congrats! I'm sure your grandbaby would say the same. :D I'm almost at 10 weeks, and that feels very good, just that I'm a non-smoker now, which I've wanted since about 10 yrs after I started smoking, but never could achieve -- until e-cigs!! :thumb:

Wow...hell of a post here. So far I've heard methods for quitting, alcoholics, drug addicts, pink floyd, chasing throat hits, vapors tongue(didn't know what it was but have experienced it), recommendations on mods and tanks, rebuilding coils and a plethora of other things. Awesome!
Im a recovering drug addict with a little over a Year clean. so its nice to see some like minded folks around here. I've been vaping for 6/7weeks and smoked maybe 7-8 analogs during that time, not really because of cravings but because I chose to. Don't ask me? Each time I do I question why I did. That taste is becoming unbearable. I have a few questions I'd like to run by everyone.
First is it normal to want to upgrade and invest in bigger and better equipment or is that just my addictive personality traits that cause that?
Second I've quit smoking in the past and within two to three days I'm coughing up crap. With vaping I haven't been, at least nothing as noticeable as before.
Third I puff all day on my halo...I mean a lot. Is that normal? I just "keep chasing bigger vapes. Is that a common thing?
I believe that's all I have for now but will probably think of something else down the line:)
Thanks for this post it been really informational and good luck to everyone out there...peace

Hey CP! One day at a time indeed. :D :thumb:

It's good to prove it to yourself that they're really nasty, so that way when they're finally gone, you really won't miss 'em, you'll *know* they taste crappy, so why bother?

Yes it's perfectly normal to keep wanting "bigger and better"; it's a new toy, a new thing to play with and get interested in, the tech is changing faster than PCs did in the '90s! And also because most of the early, starter-type devices really don't deliver the great vape that some of the more advanced stuff does, but when you start, it's best to stick with the easy stuff, and get into the more advanced as you feel ready and curious and prepared for the learning curve. This place helps enormously with that!!!

You probably will have some crap to cough up, depending on a lot of factors as to how much or for how long -- how long did you smoke, how much did you smoke, etc -- mine was helped along tremendously by the fact that I had a HORRIBLE cold when I first started vaping, and I have asthma, so naturally there was lots of "cold" to get rid of, after the virus itself had departed, and I'm pretty sure I got about 90% of 39 yrs accumulated tar out of there then, though I hadn't fully quit yet, I was down to like 3-5 a day rather than 18-20 a day, so it just got on out of there. There's still a little, especially in the mornings, but I do have asthma, so that may never fully leave me.

And yeah it is actually pretty normal to more or less "chain vape" when you first start; partly it's to get over the cravings for cigarettes, but it might also mean you might need just a little more nicotine. I actually quit smoking using 6mg, but after the cigs were gone, I found I was just puffing continuously, so I went up to 8mg, and even that seemed like not quite enough; finally I went to 9mg and that seems pretty good. I vape whenever I want, as much as I want, but I don't feel the constant need to puff. I actually set it down and do other things sometimes. :D

So... one day at a time. :D

Well, there are herbal blends that can help you with the withdrawl. The FDA has banned them, in my opinion due to big tobacco paying them to do so, but I cannot post a recipe here without getting banned. And, for truth in advertising, I vape very infrequently (and smoke regular cigarettes way too often) to have first hand knewledge of the herbal benefits even though I am an herbalist myself.

CP Brother, Damn nice. I'm happy this post has been of some help to you. You will find as I did there are many of us out in the world who have faced addiction for one thing or another. I don't fault anyone for having that problem, I know how easy it is to become an addict, and how so very hard it is to get that damn monkey off your Back. You Have it whipped, I salute you for being clean and sober. We need to get you smoke free so you can have your whole life back, and have more time here with those little ones I see in your avatar. Andria did a good job answering your questions.

Bounty stick with it any time you use it and leave a cigarette laying down is a win no matter how small. Some folks just have a hard time letting go of smoking and that's ok. But if you make an effort to vape first to see if it helps, you'll probably find you have gone through the day and smoked less then normal. My friend at work has do it this way and has gone from 2 packs a day to smoking 3 analogs a day. I look at it like this 3 cigarettes a day is way more healthy then 40, so even if he remained at 3 for the rest of his life he has given himself quite a better chance of having a healthy remainder of life. I wish you the best

Andria Thank you for the kind words. I sure hope I have a good amount of time left on this earth, I have so much to teach my little grandson. He is my reason for giving up the smokes. I have been taking my cigarette money and putting into an account for him, at nearly 3 packs a day cost that's gonna be a nice little chunk for him at 18, Hopefully I will have taught him by then about making good investments for the future. He is 5 months old today, as soon as I can get him walking were going fishing.

Try the 30S I find the 30S to be fairly loose draw never gurgles never leaks coil selection from 2.2-1.5 ohms. I'm using the 1.8 and getting really good flavor and vapor from it. if you don't mind a large atomizer any one of the Kayfuns is sure to please Look for the lite+ or 3.1 for adjustable airflow Some places have a plain Lite version that has airflow adjustment, but you have to read the description at different sites to see who is selling them. I did see 2 last night one is being sold by fastTech. The Kayfun units I have give the best flavors of any unit I have used and the vapor is very nice from those units as well.

Andria and epic, thanks for the response and the warm welcomes. Indeed we are everywhere;-)
I just received my triton vv this morning and I'm loving it so far. It's incredible the difference in flavor I'm getting with 3-3.2 ohm and adjustable wattage. My adv became much less sweet and much more smokey...yum. I feel like I'm becoming a chemist mixing liquids all the time lol. Now hopefully this will appease me for a few weeks at least before I start thinking about some type of mod and tank combo. Not that I'm not already...god help my bank account. Peace

LOL I know my wife is happy I don't smoke anymore, but she does raise an eyebrow when I'm on the net looking at vaping gear. I'm the type of person that if I think I'll gain from another item I get it, most times I find It's the same or worse, but hell nothing ventured, nothing gained. I'm looking for that GOD LIKE vape. Ill stop at nothing to find it. IMO as long as I don't smoke any money spent now will pay back ten fold in healthy years added to my life. That to me is Priceless. I use a VV VW device the SVD and VTR and I honestly don't think you ever need anything else. Mech mods have there place and I own several, but my vapping is 99% done with my regulated device's. If you set them up correctly and use a decent atty you can get damn good vapor and flavor. Furthermore if you know how to rebuild and can manage a few specialty coil designs you can put those in cheap atty's and still get awesome vapor and flavor. an example of that is using an IGO W dripper with a diamond or dragon coil design on my SVD at 4.5 volts and 12watts, I can literally choke myself with all the vapor it makes using 70VG 30PG juice and both designs are great for letting flavor in.

Here's a link to the Kayfun I'm expecting tomorrow -- 2mm Kayfun Lite Plus Clone by Tobeco w Second Tank Spare Parts Russian | eBay

It's a brushed (rather than polished or satin) Kayfun Lite Plus with 2mm (larger) adjustable airflow, full kit -- both SS and clear tanks, and all the spare parts -- just $32.95, which is the best price I've seen for a US shipper -- it comes from New Jersey. Sure Fasttech may have the same thing for a lot less, but you have to wait soooooooo long for it, and then you have to wait even longer for customs to get off their butts and send it along.

Rebuilding coils seems like a big hairy deal, but it's really not. I was terrified of it, until I actually tried it. It can be challenging to get the wraps as close together as you can, but once you can get it mounted on a PV, you can dry-burn and push the coil tighter together -- but don't touch the coil with anything metal while you're actually pressing the fire button, or you'll get a real nasty surprise. ;) I use a wooden cuticle stick or a toothpick, if I need to touch it while it's actually redhot, but I've found that it stays soft and malleable for a few seconds after you release the button, so you can fire-release-press, fire-release-press, etc, till you get it really tight.

And it sure is easier to thread a wick thru something wrapped on a 1/8 drill bit, than something wrapped on a 5/64 drill bit! :D

Heh... my husband has gotten so used to the sight of me eagle-eyeing online catalogs, he just goes "more vapegear, eh?" Usually I'm not actually looking to buy anything, I'm just scanning for the BEST POSSIBLE price. But, I handle the budget and bill-paying, and that ALWAYS comes first to me, making sure that ALL the bills are paid and we have PLENTY of food, so he knows that anything I buy is *after* all the other important stuff is paid for.

I've bought a lot of stuff in 3 months time, but he's been able to go back to his coin collecting hobby, which he had to ditch back in 2008 when the economy got so bad -- his company went to 34.5 hr weeks, so as not to have to lay anyone off, and that hurt, but a lot less than losing the job would have hurt. End of 2011 he was able to go back to full time 40 hrs, and early 2012, he even got his 7.5 hrs/wk overtime back, and we just love that OT time-and-a-half. :D So, clearly I haven't spent anything like what I would have spent on cigarettes, or he wouldn't be buying coins again. :thumb: I'm just glad he saves money of *some* kind, rather than something useless like stamps -- back in 2009, we had to pay our electric bill with his "star note" collection, and that really killed him, but electricity is kinda required, so he gave 'em up. Now he has the opportunity to hunt for a full collection of star notes again. :D

The best thing about all this money spent on vapegear instead of cigarettes is that, except for e-juice and cartos, I still have everything I've bought -- unlike cigarettes, which would have just turned to ash. :thumb:

Day 28 now - nearing the magic month.
Got through the no taste thing and have now settled on a Benson and Hedges eliquid mixed with a touch of fruity/woody pipe tobacco. Also got a few samples of other flavors for a bit of change eg cheesecake. They are OK for a change now and then.
Also upgraded to a 1300mah twister and an aerotank.

Today my kids and I poured the dried up tobacco I had kept just in case into the bin - I cannot see myself going back. The weirdest thing is for the first time ever I can smell people who smoke. I started at 13 so it is weird now getting a proper sense of smell. One habit I haven't quite kicked - when I go outside to vape at the office I keep reaching into my pocket for my lighter then getting a sense of dread when it's not there before realising I don't need it.

Difficult to say I wanted to quit - I enjoyed smoking and the rebel in me said no government will tell me what to do so all the legislation just made me a bit more of a hardened smoker. I think it was the cost, the kids hating it and knowing one day it might kill me even though I have had no smoking health problems (that I know of).
Now I prefer vaping although smoke/smokers don't bother me.

As to quitting yes that is my long term goal but I am not rushing. Stay on 18-20mg until completely sure the ciggies are behind me then reduce the level in stages. I have no stop date and right now tend to try and mimic my smoking routine with the vapes.

It would be tons cheaper then smoking IF I didn't keep finding new vaping gear to add to my wishlist ;-)

I think use it any way you want whether it is to give up completely or just keep vaping and cut out all the rubbish and health risks in smoke. I don't think nicotine in itself is the most terrible drug - that said I really wouldn't want my kids to start using it whether that be vaping or, even worse, smoking.

For sure Bills paid first. I remember back in the first years with my wife we had good and bad times. I always bought firearms and am an avid collector. I found in a pinch you can always get cash for a firearm (GUN store sales only) Many times I would get near to what I paid for it. I hated selling my collection, but kids gotta eat and we all need a roof over our heads. I'm happy I decided to start putting money away for a rainy day long ago. Its allowed me to weather the rough times a little easier, but it never seems to be enough no matter how much you save. I like to shop around for good prices if I really want a good price I put the wife on it. She has a knack for finding deals I get tired of searching and accept the lowest price I found for that time. Hunting has been a huge money saver. I fill my freezers with meat every year from hunting. We have very nice bag limits here in Maryland, and I have honed my skills to get the most from every outing.

I have 2 of the protanks the 2 and 3 I think there ok but just ok for me I get good flavor since I changed the flavor wicks to a larger size That also helped with the gurgle issues as well. what I don't like is how soft you have to hit them I can get a good bit of vapor from it but I have to draw on it for about 10sec to do it.
Thank you 6 weeks for me is a life time not smoking I was never able to get through more then a few days no matter what I tried. Vaping has been a godsend. I for sure keep higher Nic. juice handy. Its actually in a Kanger Unitank I carry it with me to work. How is the Taifun there on sale at my local B&M shop they look pretty nice.

I started at 13 too, and yeah it's weird, I always had a very keen sense of smell, even as a smoker, but now, my husband swears I can smell gnat farts. :D I've gotten a lot of great benefits from quitting smoking, but I wouldn't call my increased sense of smell one of them!

The thought of quitting smoking could not have been further from my mind when I first got here; I just needed a way to come in from the coldest winter in 30 yrs! But when I found this Virginia, I knew I had finally found the magic way to finally quit smoking -- and it's working tremendously! I really don't even get cravings anymore, though I'm not so silly as to think they'll never come back -- all it usually takes is a bit of stress... and I start vaping like a fiend, so I don't think of cigarettes! A couple weeks ago I finally got rid of the last open pack I had, to a neighbor who's so broke he didn't even care they were over a month stale, it was 12 free cigarettes! :D

We went out to a few stores a little while ago, and when we came out of the grocery store, I got smacked in the face with cigarette smoke... and it smelled every bit as bad as the blacktop they're laying a few blocks over. I just can't believe I went around smelling like that for 39 yrs!
