Andria I know what you mean I smell it so easily now. I was told once that I never had to write my name on my paperwork at work, the lady who does the billing said she could always tell my paperwork just from how strong the cigarette smell was. I thought she was just being critical as most never smoked/ non smokers can be. I sure get it now having to walk past folks smoking and smelling it on there clothing after the fact. I made a decision to not be critical of folks smoking there smell or having them do it around me. I was one of then, so instead I introduce myself and let them know there may be a better alternative if there willing to try it out. I have gotten 5 people at my shop to jump on the vaping band wagon, they were amazed how I can be around it and not want to do it. I explained I am still going through the motions just using vapor now instead of smoke, and that I get the same satisfaction from the vapor.

14 was my year. There were a number of things that led to my stop date. The beginning was the stink I carried with me always.
Then it was my constant cough companion. And then I realized I could get my nicotine in other ways. The end game was financial and when I realized I could save almost $300 month I bought in.

I agree, I find the stench of cigarette smoke disgusting now. It just smells like... Death. And I had it on me for almost 30 years.

I also used to smoke about 2 packs per day. I had a room mate move in who was big into vaping and he gave me an eGo battery, a couple CE4's, and a USB charger. He let me try some juices out to see what I liked. I tried it a few times, and shrugged it off. It sat next to my computer (where I sat every night) for a few months before I decided to pick it up and take it seriously.

So, I got on some juice vendor sites and ordered some various flavors in small amounts to see if I could find one to simulate analogs (which is common), until I found one that I actually liked enough to vape the whole evening. That resulted in ordering a bigger bottle of it (24mg nic, lol) along with a vamo v2. Eventually I moved on to wearing the vamo 24/7 on a lanyard and using carto tank setups.

It was a long on/off process but finally I kicked the analogs to the curb for good. I love to see other people's success stories and affirmations of better health.

Ok, I need to ask a question; I've asked a friend via pvt msg, but she apparently hasn't logged on, and I really need to know -- is there any easy way to refill a carto tank, if you don't have one of those "refill drip tip" thingies? I've ordered one, but it won't be here for a few days. I have some syringes, a couple of 18ga needles, one that's sharp, and one that's been blunted, but this cartotank is such a cheapie that if it goes over half full, it starts running out the 510 connector like mad. I'm trying to avoid having that kind of mess to deal with again.

Any ideas?

Ok I have been smoke free for 3 weeks and 3 days I have been vaping that long. I have learned a couple things I'd like to share that hopefully will help some folks who are quitting smoking. First and foremost you have to want to quit there is no magic device or juice However Vaping is as close as I have found to actually smoking. This stuff works for me and is worth a try as apposed to giving in to smoking. There are gonna be a few rough patches and sometimes your device may fail to satisfy your cravings, when that happens to me I use a hard lung hit to get through that, from that I also end up with a good throat hit, what I do is breath in the vapor directly into my lungs and I do it for an entire inhale, This works for me just about every time. You can also hold the vapor in your mouth a few seconds longer to let the Nicotine absorb better. I have a small 3ml bottle of 24mg nic that I keep for times when I just don't seem to get enough all other times I'm using 12mg I also use the 24mg in my dripper unit. usually 4-5 good hits and I'm good to go.

There will be a point where the flavor of juice your using will no longer appeal to you this is known as vapors tongue, There are 2 things you can do about this. One is change to another flavor you really like. Second is to buy a dripper or RDA and use a strong tasting flavor. I like Black licorice its very strong and will cover any flavor you can think off. Most strong mint flavors will do the same. I use the dripper for an hour then I can return to my normal vaping flavor and enjoy its goodness once again.

The last part is a mental game try to wait as long as you can before using your device try waiting an extra 15 min then half an hour then an hour and so on when things seem to be closing in remember how much time you have under your belt thus far is it worth giving that up, that's time you cant get back. don't let go of it get online read some of the forum threads here that will occupy you mind and give your hands something to do and by all means Vape while you do it. before you know it it's bed time Pat yourself on the back my friend you now have another day under your belt.

I'm not an expert by any means but I have been smoke free for the longest time in my 48 year old life. Most times I couldn't get past 2 days. I smoked for 30+ years with the last year smoking 2.5-3 packs a day like clockwork. It's caused 2 heart attacks and other medical issues for me. I can honestly say I have the smoking licked I'm working on giving up the nicotine now but honestly I don't care if I have that addiction so long as I'm not inhaling all the really bad crap from cigs. I will keep at it though till I'm down to 1Mg nic then just vape no nic juice to see if I get through it.

Again folks this is what works for me I hope some of you can take away something from it to help yourselves or ever use the info for your own ideas at any rate I wish you the best of luck on your journey to getting your life back.

Joe

Well done my friend.
I to smoked heavy for about 30 years, I'm 46 years old and could never quit with everything I tried.
Then I found Vaping, I started about 2 weeks ago and quit smoking cigarettes the same day I started Vaping.
For me this has been a God Send, it truly works for me I haven't looked back since and I truly enjoy vaping much more than I did smoking.
Seems a lot of us 40 something crowd are turning to Vaping and crushing our tobacco habits. Good for us and good for our friends and family who get to keep us around that much longer.

I'm so happy to get that monkey off my back...

I haven't seen 40-something in several years... ;) But I'm so glad that I managed to quit smoking not only before I had smoked for 40 yrs, but even a little before I had smoked for 39 yrs... tomorrow, well hell, it's after midnight already so I guess "today" is the anniversary of the date I started, in 1975... it would have been 39 yrs, but I smoked my last on Feb 27. :D

People keep using that word "godsend"... and I really, honestly, felt I was being led to this, one tiny babystep at a time, so I could go at my own pace and be comfortable, make my own decisions about it and not feel pressured by individuals or circumstances. As I discovered when I quit drinking, that's really the only way anything like this will "stick," if you choose it for yourself, for your own reasons.

And yep, my son is thrilled and absolutely amazed that his smokestack of a mom is no longer a smokestack... he's completely flabbergasted, said he *never* saw that coming! ;) My husband said he always hoped I might quit someday, but really didn't count on it. Fooled him, didn't I. :D

Fantastic, I'm glad to hear you made the switch. Feels good doesn't it? I have come to hate Big Tobacco Companies for what they've done to society and continue to do.
Vape for life, good luck.

I don't hate on BT so much; the dangers have been known for a long time, but smoking has been around for even longer, so there's a market for what they produce, and they're just doing what everyone else does, try to make a living.

My major hate is reserved for Big Pharma; they knowingly sell drugs that are more harmful than the conditions they're supposed to treat; they suppress and participate in the suppression of other drugs, especially the herbal kind ;), which have far fewer dangers and side effects, just so they can keep making massive, astronomical bucks, on very dangerous substances. I am certain there is collusion between Big Pharma and the entire medical industry; doctors push the nostrums that BP knows are dangerous, just so they can continue having patients to treat, because taking 90% of the stuff that BP puts out will cause you to need a doctor. It's such a huge racket, but they get away with it, and people act like they're GODS or something. Demons would be much closer to the mark.

Ok, I know there are some kayfun owners here... I've posted a msg in the kayfun lite thread, but so far no answers...

How do I get it filled, without having to blow out the flood for 30 mins after filling it? It vapes really nice, once I get the flood out of the way, but I really need to get it *filled*, and it seems the more I put in it, the more I have to blow *out* of it!

This is making me crazy, got this nice thing, got the coil made, probably need a lower resistance coil, but the 2.1 that's in it is working, and it does vape really nice when it works, nice warm vape but not too hot, outstanding throat hit... but this flooding is making me nuts!

AARRRGHHHHHHHHHH!

On the carto tanks I use the drip tip tool, but prior to that I just slide the carto out till I just see the tiny holes outside of the tank. This will give you decent space to fill while its tilted slightly. the drip tip fill tool is so much easier you will love that tool for filling and its nice and slim so its not bad to smoke from neither.

You got the lite plus rite? if so I fill that from the bottom fill hole only till the juice just passes the clear section. all others I fill from the top there are some good videos on the tube for filling. as for the flooding did you use cotton or the supplied silica wick? 2.1 ohm isn't bad for the kayfun, if your running a VV VW device Id shoot for around 4 volts and 11 watts. Hold down the power button and blow into the vent hole on the kayfun you will see vapor pour from the 510 tip do it for 3 seconds that should clear the flooding, if not twist up a tissue and feed it through the chimney to absorb some of the juice at the wick. If your still having flooding I can help you with a good wick design to keep that from happening.

Well, I finally got it sorted on the flooding, but that 2.1 was just a bit cool, and fairly slow, so I made a new one; this one hit just right at 1.7, but I don't think I used *enough* wick, not really getting a lot of flavor. So, the coil's good, but needs better wicking. I'll deal with it tomorrow.

Tonight I've gone back to that carto tank, since I'm soon going to bed anyway. I did figure out how to fill the cartotank, just thinking what I read about the refilling drip tip, how it pushes the carto down, and I realized I had a snug drip tip that would do the same thing, pushed it down enough so i could grab it and pull it just a little further, to give room at the top between the carto and top cap to get my syringe in there. Worked great, no mess.

I used silica for the Kayfun's wick, not the included but my own, but I have such a hard time threading it into the coil, I think this time I just didn't use enough. tomorrow I may give the P&C yarn another try, since I don't yet have any "actual" cotton, like cotton balls. I have a fair length of it that I already boiled and stuck in the drawer, so I can try that.

Thx!

Just came from My cardiologist. The 4th of May mark 1 year since I had 2 stents placed. It felt so damn good to tell him I'm no longer smoking for the past 6 weeks. He gave me the old once over and said my heart sounds fantastic. Unfortunately I still have to be on the Meds since I still have 2 main arteries 80% blocked. We scheduled an echo to see if they have cleared up any from the meds I have been on for the last year. So I'm hopeful I can soon get off some of those. He did say from the sound of my heart he has no doubt the blockage should be less. He looked over my vaping device real good, and asked a lot of questions about brand, how it works, progress in using it. I filled him in on all the details expecting him to have jumped on the hey lets shun vaping band wagon. I was pleasantly surprised when he said it will be good information for his other patients to use to help them quit smoking. I told him To give out my name and phone number for anyone interested in learning more and how to go about getting a device. He was the one who suggested I try the Blu E-Cig to help quit, unfortunately the Blu Didn't work for me. I told him IMHO vaping and E-cig use are not the same and shouldn't be lumped together as such. He was also kind enough to let me vape rite there in his office. After talking with him about the products we use for vapor e liquid he replied those are found in much of what we use daily and couldn't understand all the cause for concern.

That's awesome! My doc is also very supportive of vaping; his practice is mostly geriatric, and a fair percentage seems to be older ladies with COPD who still smoke, so I'm looking forward to giving him the good news about vaping making it so easy to quit smoking.

However there is one thing I should mention, since you have the troubles with your heart/cardiovascular system. Since about 1 month smoke-free, after vaping for about 6-7 wks, I've noticed swelling in my feet and ankles; just passed 2 months smoke free, nearly 3 months of vaping, and the swelling has become severe enough that it actually hurts, in the back of my calves just above the ankles. I have no earthly idea what's causing it, but considering that I first noticed it after I'd been vaping about 6 wks, and slowly just keeps getting worse, and that I have no other health conditions that could cause it (I'm even past menopause, so the monthly bloat is not an issue) I have to think that vaping is a factor, and I strongly suspect the PG, since my e-juice is 85% PG.

Although I have a lot of difficulty with high-VG, I may need to start customizing my own to be more like 60%PG/40%VG, to bring down the PG a little; I was also thinking that I should probably increase my nic level a little, and stop vaping at will round the clock, but more in the periodic manner I used to smoke, like once or twice an hour. And increase my water intake still further, since for some strange reason, water retention can be a symptom of dehydration? I've had issues with that for a long time that vaping is just increasing, so I guess I gotta take it more seriously -- and go put my feet up for a while, before I get busy re-wicking the Kayfun. It'll still be there when I come back in here. ;)

Congrats! Hope your next checkup is the doctor saying "well you have no more need of me".... heh.. like that'll ever happen. ;)

Andria
