Being honest I never could get the rhythm of dripping with the disposable 510 dripping atty I picked up. Ok I still can't get it right with that thing. I either flood or get dry hits or can never get the old flavor out for a new one.

On My Octopus rda though no problems at all. I love this thing.

So I guess I am backwards to most people. :p

Hey guys,

I've dripping with an RDA since Friday in probably more of a gung-ho, foolhardy manner than is necessarily smart, i.e. vaping my own coils and THEN reading up on things. Any definitive thread I can be pointed toward? There is a LOT of information scattered about!

Anyway, this is night-and-day compared to anything I had been using up to this point. The vape is so flavourful and satisfying, I get HUGE amounts of vapour, and it takes the "ritual" to the next level. My latest coil is burning so nice!
LOL, I wouldn't say 'foolhardy', probably more like "Wow this is different". Lot's of good info in the RDA/RBA sub forum Rebuildable Atomizer Systems

Thanks for that. I've been digging around in there (and I just finished my first microcoil with mostly adequate results). I did end up grabbing a multimeter, but its readouts are pretty unreliable at such miniscule loads. I'll probably grab one of those 510/eGo-threaded meters I've seen in a few vids.

It's funny, and I didn't really expect this, but I find making a good wick vastly more challenging than making a coil. In the end, I'm sure the trick is synergy between them. Practice!

I'm also interested in dripping but I don't know where to start. 510 atty? Cisco? So you don't need a cartridge? Is a 306 a 510 connection? Bridged? Unbridged? What is a good vendor for these?

Both a 510 and a 306 will attach to a battery with a 510 connection.

I have a CE4 and CE4+, both new, but I haven't used them yet. I would like to try dripping. What does the coil I'm supposed to drip on look like? Is it obvious? Do I drip on the coil while keeping the long wicks dry? Thanks.

This is a (gunky) 510 bridgeless atomizer:

510.jpg

You can see the coil in the bottom. In a newer, cleaner atty (and/or a better picture), you can usually see the wick sticking out a bit on either side of the coil. Drip 2 or three drops of juice directly onto the coil. The wick (and the SS mesh around the ceramic) will absorb enough for about as many hits, depending on the resistance of the atty and the voltage of the battery. Vape until you get a hit that doesn't taste quite saturated enough - you'll develop a "feel" for it - then add another 2 or 3 drops. If you're a chain vaper, let the atty "rest" for a couple of minutes and try another short hit before you decide that it's dry - you want to give the wick a chance to absorb the juice in the mesh before you add more.

This is a 306 atomizer:

306.jpg

The inverted "V" sticking up on the top is the bridge (in a regular, bridged 510, this is built inside the barrel over the coil, so that's pretty much all you see when you look down inside the atomizer). You can also get a bridgeless 306 atomizer, which I recommend for dripping.

The 306 atomizer actually has a 510 battery connection, so it will attach to any 510 battery. However, it will require a special drip tip:

306 with tip.jpg

The 306 drip tip fits down over the atomizer rather than snapping into the top like a 510. Same vaping principle applies - drip 2 or 3 drops / vape / drip 2 or 3 more. As is pretty obvious from both the way the atomizer is built and from the way the drip tip fits onto it, you have to be especially careful about over-dripping with the 306 or you'll have leak issues. Frequent dripping with fewer drops works best.

Hope this answers some questions. And just to save face a little, I don't use either of these atomizers anymore; if I did, I would clean them (eewww!)

My experience with regular 510 and 306 atties was the same as yours. They turned my off from dripping entirely for a while.

RDAs turned out to be a different story, I really enjoy using them.

However, it seems like I go through more juice, not less, when dripping on an RDA. And I'm not doing low ohms, usually, 2.0 to 2.4 ohms.

First off, I just want to say that this is only my experience and opinions, so YMMV.

Dripping was something I wanted to try but I had no idea this little thing would be one of the most important pieces of the vaping puzzle for me. It did take a little getting used to and I was confused at first but WOW! I have never tasted anything like this before. The flavor and vapor from it are just incredible

I have been vaping for almost 4 years...owned several high end RBA/RDA's......... There is nothing like direct dripping...its the only way I vape...If you think those Ciscos attys are good wait until you try an HH357 atomizer....Blows the rest away!

Dripping is great! When I'm at work or out around town I use a clearo .. but at home I drip almost exclusively.

I'm torn between quality atty's like the Cisco Spec vs RDA's. I have an use both. I feel like the flavor might be more balanced and, overall, a bit better in a Cisco Spec vs one of my RDA's . .but, of course, the RDA is a lot more intense and full-flavored. I usually start off with an RDA but, if I start to feel overwhelmed by vapor, flavor and throathit, I switch to one of my Ciscos (510 or 306 . .slightly prefer 306).
