My newist bit of fun is granting water walking to guildies as they jump out of instances to the water landings below. Killed one of my long time friends several times before he decided to wait for me to leave the instance first... What he forgot is . Just because he sees 3 of my toons land in the water. Doesn't mean one isn't lurking behind a pillar.. Just to watch him go splat!!!

I had forgotten about DAOC played that for about a week. Didn't like it to much.

Good gods, this thread has made me laugh until I almost peed myself, and taken me down memory lane with some of the games mentioned.

It will be hard to give a "Reader's Digest" answer here - hmm...

I started my illustrious gaming career back in '99 *rubs chin in grand senile fashion*. Yes, Bertox was the server. Dark Elf Shadow Knight and a cute little violet eyed Half Elven Paladin. Ah.... those were the days.

I ventured on to other worlds. EQ2, Asheron's Call, Anarchy Online, DAoC, LOTRO, City of Villains (yea OK, I had a couple Heroes, whatever), Guild Wars, am even trying out a free version of DDO right now (although I am admittedly ignorant of DnD rulesets having never gotten into the PnP stuff back in the day).

I'm sure there are a few I've forgotten but I am, for the time being, playing WoW. I don't understand expansion bashing. The game is still WoW, only it has more places to go. I've never played a game that DIDN'T brandish the nerf bat in irrational directions from time to time, whether via patch or expansion pack. You either like the game or you don't. You either play it or burn out and move on. I just can't understand blaming new content on ruining the game. Other than the infamous changes made to the dearly departed SWG.

In any event... I digest *smirk*

I think we should make a guild called Vaper Trails. However: I am a staunch Hordie. I punt dorfs and squish gnomes between my Orc's toes. The Alliance makes me throw up in my mouth a little *smirks mischievously again with a twinkle in her eye*

Also, I'm one of those weirdos that solos in MMORPGs. NO! Say it isn't so!! Yes, I'm afraid it is. Why? Let me count the ways.

My time is limited. I abhor PUGs with every fiber of my being. I don't like to be rushed, nor do I like to stand around waiting for others to get off their asses. I do not want to be judged or have to judge other people's play style, ability (or lack thereof). I like to smell the flowers and, gods forbid, READ THE QUEST TEXT.

So, you say, why do you play MMORPGs then. Well, how about I like the game, and just because it's massively multiplayer doesn't mean it is Mandatory Grouping. Yes, I do group. Yes I have actually had FUN grouping. But it's not my priority, nor is PvP (which I suck at, but that's another topic).

And Ghetto, good luck in Aion. My friend was in beta and let me sit down for a few sessions. Very pretty eye candy but basically you're just leveling to get into the Abyss and it's all PvP from there (well, PvPvE to be technical). Not my cup of tea, wings or not. I hope you like it.

Back to my little assassin. I've some gnomes to squish.

EDIT: @Shaydin: I remember an RvR experience once, musta been over 100 peeps at this thing, I felt my rig pulling on my pants leg begging and pleading with me (surprised it didn't start smoking). Anyway, we're all running together toward a keep, lagging our asses off, my friend is in the throng and we're all laughing at how ridiculous it was trying to run to the keep with everyone at about 4 FPS and my friend says "Oh wait, this isn't the line to the bathroom?"

Epic. Or... one of those "you had to be there moments" - your choice.

When they started the achievements I offered to help my guildies get "Going Down" on my pally. I usually got 2-3 good "kills" before they started to catch on. Usually "oops, I forgot we had to be in party for BOP to work", followed by "oops, I wasn't ready and lost los when you jumped", and then, "Sorry, lag spike." (I offered my services at the Aldor elevator in Shattrath).

Hahaha I did that to hubby once.. it cost me about 3k gold... That was his claim on the repair bill. It was one heck of a fall. I think his armor broke into tiny pieces.
But I laughed for several days afterwords it was soo worth it.

I to am a horde at heart. Started off horde and am ending horde. I refuse REFUSE to go back to alliance. Yep cuter looking aviators. But to many kiddies. So since we are getting goblins in the xpack.. Are you going to bite the bullet and make one?
I've got my stash of funds saved up for the xpack. 250 bucks set aside.
Been so busy on the boards since 10pm I forgot 3 hours worth of trick or treating.. UGG.. need those wands darn it!!

Yeah, Pallies being new to Horde really helped. I played alliance for about 45 levels while taking a "vacation" from my guild at the time, so I was in a good position when we got pallies. I haven't decided yet about goblins. I am going to make an Undead Hunter. I've been wanting one of those for years now. I've got a druid and warrior I never level but keep meaning to. And then the DK is only 73, should probably get the last 7 levels so I can send the heirloom plate to the warrior. Unless Gobbos get to be warriors, then I might just delete the warrior and reroll a gob for that spot. I just rerolled the rogue hemo/ss, and have the tankard. I may do headless horseman to get my pally some new healing rings, but other than that I'm opting out of Halloween this year. After helping a friend farm the mount last year I'm a little burned out.

You know, Alzheimer's is a terrible thing. Years seem to blur ... haha.

OK, I know my Pally's name was Raiyne and for the life of me don't remember her surname. I just remember living in Unrest from 16 to 30 something. Everyone waiting along the walls watching the trains, waiting for a spot in the Hand room or elsewhere.

I remember breaking the Altar. Blast those hags! Must have died 5 times getting it cleared out. Ahhhh... the good old days. And then later, Unrest became the tomb it was. Sad...

Uh huh? What was I saying? Hey, who put this food in my mouth!

*blush* I don't even remember the name of my guild anymore. The things I've been through in RL since those days have nearly brainwashed me from the past. But it's nice to see a fellow Bertoxian around. Love your toon name btw, and the story about it was part of my giggle fest.

I'll search my brain later and post again when I can remember something (sneakin this one in at work)... *hits Vanish and creeps off*

Very cool Rhaevyn, yeah so many memories and names fade into the past, but I have so many great memories of that game it spoiled me for all other MMORPGs. Aside from the fact that I never wanted to get that involved again. By the end of my EQ days, I had 1 full year played on my character, that's 365 days of actual game play. Horribly embarrassing to know that in this short life, I blew a year of it on a game.

Glad I was part of your gigglefest :)

I beg to differ Runk, my large and smelly Ogre friend ;)

You look back with fond memories. You made friends, you had adventures. You laughed, you got frustrated, you felt accomplishment.

Now take that much time and money and equate it to going out to bars and getting drunk (some people's preferred "entertainment") and tell me if that would bring as much memory of good times. If any memory at all.

Or, think about spending that much time in front of the TV. Nah, there is never a "waste" of time entertaining yourself. We work hard to be able to have spare time to blow off steam and do something fun. I think the whole anti-gamer mentality is silly. We all gotta do something to have fun, right?

Just my 2cp :D

Well said and I concur, I gladly spend copious amounts of time doing all of the above :)

I still am in contact with some of the wonderful people I met during those times and we share memories that only few can understand and less can relate, truly some great times.

Speaking of, off to burn a bunch of time on my just arrived The Office box set!!!! :)

I have made some wonderful friend in WOW. A set of brothers. And their 85 year old mom.
We met the first day and have been buddies ever since. A total of 5 brothers. And they maybe older but they are a blast to play with.
I have more fun in the game with the people I have met then I ever did on my very short bar days.( went 3 times).
I've even met some of my wow friends.

Played WoW since release, and I was even a mod on mmo-champion. (I think I still am even though I haven't been there in a couple months)

I play Aion now and it's great so far. We'll see what happens when Cataclysm comes out, but I don't think I'd be able to go from Aion back to WoW.

If I don't feel like sitting in front of a computer, I'll be playing The Show 09 or Madden 10.
