Hey Folks--

I'm in the market for a V? device. You all know the devices that are available now and in the near future.

I gather from what I've slogged thru here ProVape is busting their humps to get your orders out. The site says there's a 4 week lead time for the device. Is that still accurate?

I know there's a lot of info in threads in this sub but it's scattered .

There's many long time vapors, electrical/ electronic experts and modders here. Could you please give me your view of the ProVari whether you have it in hand or not. I'm not necessarily looking for a full review -- I'll piece together the collective wisdom.

And of course, anything that ProVape wishes to address will be appreciated.

I'm in the waiting line for a ProVari. I have several mods and this is by far the one that I am most excited about. There is one upcoming mod that I think has some added potential but the version that I saw was not my style. Some might find it appealing but I didn't. I'm watching the developer's site to see what the final product looks like. Another upcoming mod also has potential to be pretty big but it has been delayed so many times that I'll believe it when I see it. I have a pre-order in for that one as well but since it is being produced by an on-again-off-again mfg in another country, I don't have a ton of faith in the final product.

Since this is the ProVape forum, I'm not going to get in to the other mods. Especially since they aren't actually in production.

The ProVari, however, offers significant advantages that are hard to ignore. The mod boosts and regulates voltage. It reads atty/carto resitance. It has a huge range of voltage options. It has a digital display. It has an on/off option. It displays battery status. It has built in error checking. The list goes on and on. Not to mention, it is pretty darn affordable, especially when compared to more expensive mods that do far less.

Since I don't have mine in-hand, I can't vouch for it 100%. That said, everything I've read indicates that ProVape has produced a winner. My advice is simple, get in line!

I'm not on expert level, just another heavy vaper...

The provari caught me off guard tbh, it's smaller than what I was using, BSB + Terminator by Notcig the Provari is smaller in the diameter. I have been using it since 12/10/10. The form factor for Beginners/intermediate levels isn't as intimidating due to the sleekness, though not many colors right now. I wouldn't be surprised if it did come in other shell casings that might make it slightly lighter. The top is heavy, but after a few days you forget about it. I haven't put this mod down since I got it. (Experimentations with attys/voltage/ejuice) This mod definately paves the waves for new generations of Variable Voltages, though it been around for quite sometime. You can scan the Provari thread to see some comparisions by other vapers, and I have a pic of the comparions with a Provari/BSB .

I've had my ProVari in hand for a couple weeks. And I mean literally, I never put it down. Only exceptions are showering, eating, & sleeping. I love it. I ordered it with the 18650 extension. Found it to be just alittle too long for stealth vaping. Now using the 18490 batt and liking this much better for portability. Thing is I use XL cartos exclusively, this adds 2 inches to the length. But, with the shorter batt, all that sticks out of my hand is the carto. The ProVari has performed perfectly and constantly since I've had it. Soon as the button flashes I swap to a fresh batt. Since I started vaping I've carried my PV's in my front trouser pocket. I'm looking for a better answer for carrying my ProVari. Possibly something like a small flashlight belt holster would work for me I think. This is the first PV I've had that I've had enough confidence in the batt lasting all day, that I don't have to carry a spare batt(s). My prior PV's, ProVape-1's, Little Sister's, Riva's/eGo's, & a VV Box Mod, I always carried spare batt(s). I do still carry a spare filled XL carto. I just can't say enough good things about the ProVari PV. JMHO

18650, from it's shipped charge, got me through 2 days of heavy vaping over Christmas weekend. When the indicator began to flash I still got about an hour out of it...and it still wasn't at the cut-off. Over the weekend I did a lot of demonstration between the two batteries. I'm guesstimating that the 18650 would last me roughly 1.5 days.

By the way --

Throughout the two ProVari threads are complements on ProVape's responsiveness and customer service.

I placed one order with them recently that got bollixed up due to site work.

I emailed ProVape today -- on New Years Day. The problem was sorted out within a couple of hours.

Holy carp! I must be living on this thing more than I thought!
On my first run, with freshly topped off 16490 (?? the shorter one), I maybe got 6 hrs.
OK; no biggy; I was playing with it quite a bit. Second battery, not much longer amount of time, so I shut off the light on the button, that's gotta help....

Now after a week, usage is leveling off, play time is less & the battery life is getting longer. Yesterday was the longest. With an 18650 battery, I was close to 12 hrs, but vaping on it was far & few inbetween for about 6 of those hours.
My voltage is normally set between 3.7 - 4.8, depending if I'm using a carto or atty.

Am I really that Abby Normal?

Nah....not really. My battery life has gone down a little since. Can't really accurately say, but now an 18650 lasts me "less than a day". Couldn't put an amount -of-juice number to that since I switch flavors constantly. I'd guess near 7ml. I dunno. The awesomeness of the ProVari kinda makes me not give a crap about all that anymore....LOL

Love my ProVari. For informational purposes I go through ~3ml a day and a 18490 gives me about a day and a half vapetime. Can't wait for my clearomizers to come this week. More fun stuff to try out.

I don't have a ProVari, and I'm relatively new to vaping, but I have a fairly good background in electrical/electronics (I work for a company that builds electronics assemblies for NASA) and I know what's possible and practical, and what isn't.

I started looking for a variable voltage PV because it makes sense. There are three variables in vaping: juice, element and power. The juice will change depending on flavor, VG/PG mix and nicotine level. The element will change from manufacturer to manufacturer, and even from element to element from the same manufacturer. I like the CE2 ceramic cartos, but only for some juices. And they don't hold enough, and I can't tell definitively when they need a refill, or how much to refill them with. I like the clear cartos because I can see what's left in there, but not at the voltage of my current PV, and the higher resistance doesn't give me the throat hit I want. I like the air draw and throat hit of a standard atomizer/cartridge combo, but it only holds a few drops and refilling every couple of minutes makes me crazy. Dripping takes that to whole new depths - it's messy and inconvenient, but for some flavors, it's the only way.

I see this as the solution to all that. Different juice? No problem, take the voltage up or down to match how strong or delicate the flavor is. Want more throat hit? No problem, up the voltage a little and you've got it. Different cartomizer with a lower or higher resistance? No problem, just adjust as needed. By making the power feed the controlled variable, it solves the problems of the juice and element and makes every combination the perfect combination. That's why variable voltage.

Why I chose the ProVari is because it pushes right up to what is possible and practical with modern technology, but doesn't go past that into territory that's experimental and likely to break down or cause problems. All the features are one of those duh! things - you don't even think about it until you read that it's in there, and then you slap your forehead with your palm and say Of course! Why didn't someone do this before? It has everything I wanted in a VV mod.
