I'm leaning towards a slight recess, with a hole for the wires, and 2 ton epoxy, maybe drill a hole or two into the bottom for index pins. Ideally it would be drilled and tapped for two brass screws to secure it, and those could be mechanically attached to a common brass plate for the negative pathway, but I'm not set up for that kind of stuff. I'd like a ProVari board in it. It's just an idea I have been contemplating for a while now.

And I just Did the upgrade on Willy Zees 4 Mini's... and honestly... I was nervous.

Working on Willy Zee's Minis was like... doing surgery on a legend... Would I be the person that killed one (or more) of the most famous ProVari mini's on the planet? Would I be the guy that sends one of these devices to vaping oblivion?

I turned up the lights... made sure all my tools were in place... and started the top cap extraction process... Carefully... I wouldn't want to change the patina of these well used and legendary pieces of vaping gear... Slowly I pulled the top cap... And the first board was out.

I was breaking a sweat as I de-soldered the leads to the original top-cap... One false move and there would be a solder bridge that could cause damage to this board that is irreplaceable (though it did look like it had been replaced at least once) caution is paramount in this step.

I tinned the leads on the replacement cap, and I slide an O-ring over one lead... The O-ring puts pressure on the board so it doesn't need to be glued back in... a more elegant solution than the Mother-Ship hot glue treatment, and the O-ring can never break free ending up with a dislodged board.

I meticulously soldered the new leads then tested the board for full function before putting it back in it's body-tube... Then I went to the press to affix the new top cap... and there it was... completed.

I popped a battery in for a final test... Pu...Pd...etc... It's ALIVE... IT'S ALIVE...

Stacie wiped the sweat from my brow and I emoted a sigh of relief... Three more to go.

The next three ahead of me, I pressed on... First one... then the next... and finally... it was done.

And sitting before me, I had FOUR of the ugliest darned ProVari minis I HAVE EVER seen.

These PVs are well used... but not used up. Each one is wholly unique... they are faded like great vintage denims, and they are TRULY loved by their owner. These are not shelf-queens... These are tools that get used.

And it was an honor, and a privilege to work on them.

And I'm not kidding. It really was.

They are on the way back to Canada this afternoon in the mail.

I'm almost tempted to send in my very well used black ProVari in. That thing is getting uglier by the day. But it is WELL loved! I dented the extension cap a long time ago and have been using an extension cap from a brushed stainless steel ProVari in its place.

Seriously, this thing is USED and used a LOT. (the P3 has been relegated to its box since getting the 2.5 Ti)

It does now... the first couple did not have that "feature" if the board was REALLY snug. At first I only did the ring if it needed it, now it happens to all of them. Because I like it
