I really will be able to quit smoking thanks to the e-cigs.

I'm still in complete shock and awe at how amazingly well this is going.

I've been addicted to cigarettes since I was 13 years old. I've never been addicted to anything else. Maybe it's because I was afraid to try other things knowing how strongly cigarettes held me.

I've hated this habit for so long, yet just couldn't stop. I went through great lengths to be a closet smoker due to the social stigma, yet I couldn't stop. I smoked when I had pneumonia and had to sleep sitting up because my lungs were so full of fluid.

I was a complete junkie too. I can't tell you how many times I tore my car and couch cushions apart to find enough change to buy a pack of smokes. Borrowing $10 from a co-worker until payday for gas - really it was for smokes.

I'm doing a little better now financially but not great. I can pay my bills, fill the fridge and afford cigarettes but nothing extra. I did the math on smokes, nearly $200 a month. I really want to be putting something into savings every month, even if it's only $25. I'm tired of living paycheck to paycheck in complete fear that my job will end completely.

So now I've got this e-cig. Actually, two of them including Blu and the 510. In the past 3 weeks I've spent roughly $140 on the two kits and e-liquid. That's still less than a months worth of analogs.

I was worried for the first two weeks because I was still smoking some analogs. I was still happy because I was smoking way less of them than usual. Now I've gone 48 hours without one and I'm not freaking out. I can't believe that I haven't just walked to the store to buy a pack. I've got money and an excuse that the dog needs to be walked but I'm not walking him in that direction.

22 years of being owned by this addiction. 22 years of being a complete junkie who tried to quit cold turkey. I also tried the patches. I wanted to roll them up and smoke them. The gum tasted like clay and with TMJ I couldn't chew it much anyway. Lozenges, forget them too. If I went more than 3 hours without a smoke in the past I was drenched in sweat and ready to lop someone's head off if I had to for a smoke.

I did feel a little bit clammy and jittery the first time I went 24 hours without an analog the first week. The nic juice I had at that time was a little too low. Though I felt that, it was nothing like the horrendous times before with nothing at all to tide me over while I tried to go cold turkey or simply didn't have enough money for that analog fix. This time, it was just a little bit but no big deal. This weekend is going so much better without any desire to walk to the store for another pack of analogs.

So my nic juice is higher than I would like it to be, I'm glad it is at least getting me off of analogs. My next order will be the next lower dose which will be mixed with the current to get used to it - with the eventual ultimate goal to be 0 nic. Once I can kick the nic habit with confidence, the entire smoking-vaping habit is next.

I'm so incredibly thankful for these e-cigs! I'm ready to write to every US Senator my testimonial on these to make sure that they do NOT get banned or "sin taxed" for the amount of good that they do. I write my politicians regularly anyway as I once had a political career. I know which ones get shoved in a file and which politicians actually are interested in constituent concerns. BTW if you want a great US Senator to hear your feelings on e-cigs, write to Bernie Sanders of Vermont. He's the best! (That applies to everyone in the US, not just Vermont. He reads every email)

Anyway, sorry for any rambling. I just can't believe how much this has done for me. If anyone is wondering which e-cig they should go for to kick this habit, really I think any of them would be a good transition. A lot of people trash talk Blu but it helped me tremendously. The 510 finished the job. I think I can finally with confidence put up a ticker to say how long it's been since I quit analogs. I've accomplished a lot of things in life that seem impressive to others... but quitting smoking to me is the most impressive.

Yay me! Yay e-cigs!

What mg nic juice are you currently using? And what mg were you using the first 24 hours you went without an analog? I'm curious because I haven't quite made the step to full on e-cig's. I am still having analogs too. How did you wean off? Did you make a schedule, or what? At home I have on hand 24mg, and 11mg. I am currently using the 12mg with analogs in between.

I'm not sure what is better, having analogs on hand just so I know I can have one, or to get rid of them, so I don't have one.

Congratulations!! My story mirrors yours. Smoking started at age 13 and that was 41 years ago. Out of the last 3 weeks I only smoked analogs for one day and that was because I was sick and wondered if the symptoms could be vaping-related. Once I determined that it wasn't, I went back to vaping immediately - No looking back. Isn't it crazy how easy it is to drop the analogs when you have vaping?!?!

Anyhow - CONGRATULATIONS!!

It's a great feeling when you realize that your not smoking... just wait it get's better. Wait till you start getting your sense of smell back and you can smell a smoker from 50ft away. That's when you realize how bad you smelled to others. Welcome aboard and remeber don't take a step back even if it's to get a running start.

Your story and mine is about the same. I have 20+ years on you though. It is truly amazing. What is really amazing is that someone would want them banned. It is all about money. They can't stand being without the tax money we would be paying if we were still smoking. If everyone quit smoking they would really be up in arms. i think we paid our share and they need to find someone else to tax for a while.

Congrats and Welcome to the forum! It still amazes me how great vaping is. I've even started to appreciate the fiddly stuff, like topping off, setting up my atty's to drain, and recharging batteries. It's become a reminder that I have taken control of my nicotine addiction. I feel like maintaining my PV is part of maintaining my health. It makes me happy to see the little sparkly nail stickers I put on the atty and carts to keep them lined up easily. My cigs were never pretty. I customize my juice so it is exactly the strenght nic I want and the flavor that suits my taste buds. It's a weird, "this is mine, and no one else's is exactly like it" feeling.

I'm using 24mg right now. I don't know what the strength is with the Blu carts, I know I ordered "light" because I smoked "light" cigarettes. 24mg was actually a little too high for me and I was a little wired my first day vaping it but now I seem to be a little more used to it. Or maybe I'm not chain vaping as much as I was that first night.

I think if you mix the two you have, you find a happy medium. Good luck!

Thanks for all of the good words everyone! I'll admit my body feels like it's missing something today but I'm still not caving. Funny how the 2nd and 3rd days are harder than the first in kicking an addiction isn't it? It's no wonder the patch, gum, etc. didn't work because the nic is actually a very small part of the addiction. I have a lot to do today before the weekend is over so I'll be busy enough to not notice soon.

I'm doing pretty good with my spending. I got three 10ml bottle a week ago and have plenty left. That's even after wasting some fluid during some hits and misses with filling and dripping. The three flavors I have are enough to keep me happy for a while. Love that menthol with the morning vape, then move to mocha and then butterscotch in the evening. BTW the black box that the Blu comes in is absolutely perfect for holding juice. Nice little dry dark place that stays cool since it's black and doesn't slip open since it has a magnetic lid. I'll admit I did have a knee jerk reaction when I read about batteries and attys going bad and wanted to buy a bunch of backups. Then I reminded myself that I got two batteries and attys with both the Blu and 510. That's four devices... if one goes bad I have three more and will order replacements as the need for them comes.
