Wonderful story and beautifully told! Feel free to ramble on anytime.

I tried all the methods and then some with no results. I wanted to roll up that patch and light it. I wanted (needed) the nicotine the way I was used to getting it. The thing that e-cigs do for me that the other methods don't is that they duplicate the physical habits. Hand to mouth, drawing in the vapor, etc.

Congratulations and hang in there! It really does get easier each day.

Congrats to you. I haven't bought a pack of smokes since my first kit arrived, I mixed the two over that weekend and while I did cave once or twice because of battery issues I immediately regretted smoking an analog. Woo!

I've tried almost everything to quit too:
Cold-turkey - Fail (went 7 months back in 2002)
Nic Gum - Fail
Nic Lozenges - Fail
Nic patch - Epic Fail
E-cigs - FTW!

Let's hope I stay strong through what's going to be a very tough Monday. Sleep alluded me last night and I'm exhausted. If anything, I picked a perfect time to quit smoking since LA's air is all smoke and ash right now with the fires. Got hit with a lovely face full of that burning air when I got in the shower this morning (bathroom window is always open.)

Just topped off my devices with liquid and I'm ready to hit the battlefield (work)

So far you're doing good. Keep it up. I was also a smoker for 20+ years. Two packs a day. Then I got my PV, and only had 3 analogs over the next 2 days. None since. I still get cravings though, but I know that a lot of it is mental, not physical. How do I know that? Because sometimes when I'm sitting at my computer desk, I find myself reaching for where I used to keep my smokes, without even thinking about it. Funny thing is, I'm using my e-cig when it happens!
Just be aware of the fact, that sometimes, your mind is out to get you.

I made it through Monday without a single analog... I really am going to do this! Today was tough but I still got through it - even with smelling the fresh smoke on a co-worker several times as he returned from his breaks.

Funny, because I knew I wanted to quit so badly but I don't think I really believed this would work. I gave myself an optimistic timeline of a week or two from last week. I guess it was just time.

Awesome! I can't believe it myself. E-cigs are truely been a miracle for me. I had smoked since I was 11, I am 43 now. My mom cried when I told her that I knew I would not go back. God, I hope the tobacco companies die as agonizing a death as they cause their customers! I can't tell you how happy I am for us all! Keep it up!

Just realized with you mentioning that - smell of smoke - that it doesn't make me want a cigarette like it used to. Almost would always make my light one up. No longer. Thanks for the memory nudge. Glad you're doing well.

I think what also helps with that is the fact that the air around here is so full of ash from the fires that we can't even see the sky. It's really dark outside. If anyone was around when Mt. Saint Helens erupted in the Northwest, it's like that. eery.

I'm bummed that I can't really feel the effects of quitting because of the air conditions - but glad that I'm not going outside to have an analog and killing my lungs even further. I did that during the last wildfires in San Diego and it HURT.

I'm still in awe each day that I go without an analog. It has never been this easy for me. Only two times I quit before was when I was a lifeguard and had to go through a month long training that kept me far away from analogs and too busy to think of them - and when I was pregnant. Both times it was more of a "forced to" situation. My daughter will be 18 in one week so it's been 18 years since I last gave my lungs a break.

It's been a week since I put out that last .... and decided not to buy another pack of analogs. Yay! Can't say I didn't think about buying another during the week. There was still a slight temptation but I talked myself out of it very quickly and passed up the chances while they were there.

Now to start weaning my nicotine amounts. I'm at 24mg now and have a month's worth of juice in the mail now. In a couple of weeks (next payday) I'll buy a lower nic juice and start mixing the two together.

Tonight's vape tastes better than any vapor before and better than any analog ever could! Victory!

Grats Mischiefgrrl! I keep an ey on my banner for those momentous dates even now and the one week and one month marks felt like such a victory. I'm now waiting for the 6 month mark since my mom once offered me $200 to quit smoking. When I decided to try this I asked her if that offer was still open and she said it was, but knocked it down to $100 for some reason. Now she keeps trying to claim she said $50, but I'm not falling for it. I expect $100 on Dec 24th :). Not that I really care about the money, but because she didn't think I would quit and I want to prove a point. I try not to let her know how much more I enjoy vaping than I ever enjoyed smoking...and I loved smoking. I just LOVE vaping so much more. I only let smokers know how great it is, I let non smokers think I'm strong and noble for quiting :).

Wow 6 months is going to feel SO good! And I would hold your Mom to that bribe too! LOL!

I really love vaping as well and am trying to not LOVE it so much. It just feels so good to know that I'm not stinking the room or myself up with smoke. I smile when I see the vapor dissipate and am not worried about harming myself or my pets who always want to be next to me. Of course I love the flavor of the juice too. I really do hope that in time I will be away from the whole habit of nicotine and needing to vape/smoke anything. I hate being ruled by any habit. It would be nice if it were just a once in a while thing to enjoy rather than a crutch. Still, I would rather love vaping than smoking any day :D
