You don't need to clean it if you are using just tobacco without adding VG ar any other extras. A small interdental brush is enough to brush out any tobacco that gets caught in the screen. After a few days use I give it a good clean with a damp q-tip and a pipe cleaner up the stem, and about once a week I take the herb chamber screen out and give everything a good clean with an Iso Alcohol based cleaner.

It only gets messed up after one vape with wet materials like shisha tobacco, using that needs a damp q-tip round the bowl and chamber after every use.

There is a slight smell like when you open a pouch of tobacco, but it doesn't make the air or you stink as if you have had a cigarette. I do add half of a slimline cigarette filter to the inside of the stem which I change about every 6 uses, it catches any tiny particles that make it through the screen as well as tightening the draw a little which I prefer.

Whimz I know what you mean about teeth and gums with smokeless products, that is a big plus of vaping tobacco for me. You can use all sorts of rolling and pipe tobaccos, but I use American Spirit almost exclusively due to its strength but flavour wise thats a personal thing. The best experience I have had is growing my own tobacco but I am all out of last season's crop at the moment. I am just about to start my seedlings off for this year.

There's always snuff, if you don't want oral tobacco ;)

I dunno about those tobacco vapourizers - they are probably better than analogs, but are they so much better?

Yes, if you stay below a temperature of 205C they are massively better than smoking. Just the alkaloids are released from the tobacco(the stuff we want!)

Gonna try this out. I need something other than what I've been doing. Or, at least something more in my arsenal. Which currently includes; stonewall disolvables, snus, five different types of e-cigs.
I am constantly anxious about all this and it seems to be driving me nuts... yes, I have issues, lol. It's all I do anymore. I want a normal life back, with normal being defined as one without combusting tobacco and without constantly thinking about getting my next "fix," and all that goes with it.... batteries, atty's, "oops, just snused, must brush my teeth now, again"... y'all know the drill. I will pick up some snuff and some of the rustica referenced as an adjunct to a tobacco blend. Been working on all this (getting off smokes) for about five months now, yet still find myself picking up a pack of smokes now and again, or begging off others.
So, you are in Dorset, frog? I have distant family from there and Wiltshire (Ailes family). Now my remaining family in England lives in IOW, London/Greenwich, Kent, and Essex (White family), which is where I was born. Likely will head over in May. If e-cigs get banned there, I can see where the information you presented will be of a tremendous benefit to many people... as the key is reducing harm, whatever the method.
Enough of my rambling... I will likely have some questions for you down the line, frog.
Thanks

Yes indeed I am although I didn't grow up here. I moved here 20 years ago as I liked the area and have settled here.

I too don't want to add up what I have spent on all the ecigs with spare batteries, atties, chargers and stuff for each, all the different liquids of different flavours, various orders of snus and snuff, I am sure I have spent more than I would have done smoking. It has been an interesting journey but I fondly remember the days when I would just buy a pack of smokes and go out with just a pack and a lighter. Vaporizing tobacco has been the best solution for me but I also realize I am in a minority. When I first started to use a true vaporizer just over a year ago there were only a couple of us and I have tried to share the info I have learnt with a few videos and my info site. If it helps one person explore an extra avenue away from cigaretttes then it is worth it.

Of all the devices I have bought, the Iolite has been the best investment. It is expensive as a single purchase but it's 2 year warranty and lack of disposable parts make it work out ok. No spare batteries or atties to buy, no passthrough or high voltage battery option with yet another charger, you know what I mean. I will still use an ecig for a long car journey with a carto, refilling while driving is a pain as it is similar to refilling a pipe. Unless you have a helping hand as a passenger!

I had hoped that the Ploom would have delivered in the cost and convenience department but it simply sucks. Don't bother. No good at all for tobacco.

I have ordered the rustica, most likely I will play around with blending it with some spearmint or lemon balm.

Frog, please keep us posted on how rustica works out in the vaporising unit,
wanted to get one of these but kept shying away at the price of a decent one.

If you can use less solids (rustica) for same or better effect, might last longer or need less cleaning (?).

I have my Nicotiana Rustica, and holy cow does it pack a punch! It is very dry and too much grinding turns it into a powder. It has a very pleasing, sweet flavour and some visible vapour. This is going to be great stuff for blending:)

Got an iolite on eBay frog. Need to run back through your vids to make sure I am "doing it" correctly. So, when the glow is on, it is just getting back up to vap temp? Otherwise it is quiet?... is that correct? It definitely seems to deliver the "other" I am after. After the unit is shut off, the orange light tends to come on a few more times, is that normal?
Thanks

Hey Whim!

Congratulations on getting the IO. Good to hear you are getting on with it already.

The gas will at first come on to get the bowl up to the 190C temperature and then shut off. It will then come on for a few seconds every now and then to keep the temperature steady. When you shut off the IO, it will run for a few more reheats until all the butane is gone from the system. It is a bit of a strange way to work, but after a while you get used to shutting the valve off before you are finished so it runs out about the same time that you are done. When I am using tobacco, I let it reheat twice before shutting off the valve which works about right for the length of vapes I have with mine.

Something else I do is take a slimline cigarette filter sold for rolling your own, cut it in half and slip it inside the stem sections. This tightens the draw and if you are using very dry dusty materials it stops any tiny particles from coming up the stem and into your mouth.

Thanks Andy (my son's name)!
Good advice about shutting off before you are finished, was thinking one could do that. Goodness, it is making me so much calmer than the straight e-cig nic... that is certain. I haven't had a chance to pick up the American Spirit yet, had some "Fresh Choice (additive free)," which is a RYO brand, that I'm using. Just used it for the first time about 20 mins ago, I think this will work for me. Hopefully this will squelch my need to vape constantly.
Many thanks to you for spreading your knowledge!

Hey exo... there are a few UK sellers that have it at a good price. Some are accepting offers: iolite vaporizer i-inhale - 9 diffent colours - eBay (item 180490740255 end time May-06-10 11:12:27 PDT)

Good find whimzkool,
wonder if there's any way to tell from the external picture if the ones sold
have the metal thread or plastic one, guess frogbmth would know.

Thinking the 'new' Black ones only come with the new metal thread - maybe,
well anyway, at least there's the 2 year manufacturer's warranty.

There is no way to tell from that picture, the one pictured is an old i-inhale model but it could be just a pic they grabbed from the net. You could message the seller and ask. The new metal threaded stems are more shiny than the plastic ones but without seeing a good quality image there is no way to know for sure. A pack of 3 new style stems is 7 euros directly from O&B so its a good idea to get those anyway as you can still break the metal threaded ones. I broke one when I dropped the herb chamber on a stone pathway - user error I would say!

If they are the old i-inhale model, you might be better getting one from Smokejuice.co.uk as they are still doing them for £119 with free delivery
