Hi all,

I haven’t vaped in around 6 years now. Decided to start again. Remembered this forum and how good it was for advice. I stopped before because it just stopped working for me after a couple of years and I went back to smoking. I suspect the nicotine I imported maybe wasn’t at the specified % but unsure.

Anyway decided to come back and I started with one of those MyBlu devices that you can pick up at the local shop. When it works it’s ok but not quite what I want. Leaks too much and too many dry hits (unsure if this is actually a contact issue). Then I got one of those xo devices from liberty flights. Either I’m doing it wrong or it is rubbish/not for me. 70% vg juice and barely anything coming out. And it’s way too hot for me.

So I thought I would come here and seek some advice off you good people. I’m not new but a lot has changed such as legislation etc. I’m after a simple/basic set up. Something like an ego, just fill and vape. It’s important that I get a reasonable amount of vapour and a throat hit of some kind. I don’t think I can direct inhale so mouth to lung set up I’m after. I’ve done all the building stuff and making own juice and don’t want that again. Just something simple.

Thanks in advance

The gear that you have used so far is 2009 technology. Dude, it's almost 2019. Vaping technology today far surpasses whatever you've been using.

Most of today's starter setups are almost "plug and play" easy. The most technical procedure is learning how to prime a coil properly.

Setups that we will recommend here will be larger than a My Blu cigalike or an Ego battery setup. There's a good reason for that. Those smaller batteries just can't compete with the performance of smoking a cigarette. Bigger and more powerful batteries are required.

I also strongly recommend that your new battery device have variable wattage. This is a very important feature which allows you to adjust your vape to your personal preferences.

Good Starter Setups for a Beginner Vaper

I suggest you consider something like the Innokin Kroma/Zenith or Geekvape Mini/Cerberus starter setup.

Welcome back to vaping.

A really decent kit for MTL these days is the Kroma-A/Zenith kit --- consistent long lasting coils (0.5, 0.8, and 1.6 ohm), top fill tank, and good vapor production.

For more of a pen-style kit, the Innokin Endura T18 seems pretty good (I do not have personal experience with it though).

Just a FYI, this kit is not variable wattage. It has a "fixed" power output of just 14 watts. It also uses a built-on tank which can not be removed. What if you don't like the tank or the coils it uses? You won't be able to try a different tank. What if you break the glass in the tank? If you can't find a replacement, the whole setup becomes useless.

Cigalikes like the Blu are highly unlikely to give you a satisfying vape.
Many people have had an excellent experience with the Kroma Zenith kit.

Kroma-A 75W TC with Zenith - Innokin

Edit - Lol, looks like a few people are on the same page as me with this...

What juice would you suggest with this for mouth to lung?

Are you asking for what nic concentration to use?

For e-liquid, the typical nicotine recommendations are generally determined by how much you smoked, and are as follows:

1/2 pack per day or less = 6 mg nicotine
1 ppd = 12 mg
1 1/2 ppd = 18 mg
2 ppd = 24 mg

Should you choose to use a sub-ohm juice attachment (coil less than 1.0 ohm); drop the above recommendations by half.
If asking about Pg/Vg ratio, one should be able to use a 20pg/80vg ratio with no problems.

Welcome and certainly use what is working. Some people tend to do well with cigalikes ,you may be one of them but it surely is one expensive way to vape.

I will also say the Innoken Kroma kit is an excellent MTL vape and the Innoken Zenith (tank) can handle fairly high VG juice if needed. These coils tend to last me a fairly long time, I have heard variable things about the mesh coils, so I haven't tried them yet.

As far as nicotine level, if you are using a MTL vape well depending on how much you smoked, 12--36 is kind of the usual range but you will have to experiment I think.

I also wonder how you were storing your nicotine base? Did you keep most of it frozen, if not, the nicotine may have slowly degraded over time as you were vaping. That can happen if it's exposed to light and heat.
Etc.

Welcome back!

Just wondering, do you have the korma A mod? If so does your's only go down to 25W in TC mode? I'm vaping in TC now and not thrilled it won't go lower than 25Watts.

thanks

I don't have the mod, just a couple of Zeniths. I hear good things about it but I have no idea if it only goes to 25 watts with TC. All TC boards apart from the major ones like, uh, have a mind unto themselves.

Although if you are trying to vape the Zenith tank in temp mode, be advised that is probably not going to go well regardless if you have a Zenith on top. As far as I know all the coils are kanthal, and kanthal cannot be used in temp mode anyway.

If you are using something else that actually is TC capable, I'd suggest going to the manufactuer's specs for the mod. It should tell you or not. Etc.

Okay, no problem, no I don't use the zenith tank anymore, I'm using my kf prime now and vaping tc with it very well. as a matter of fact I have 3 boxes of coils I ordered for the zenith and don't use it lol, just thought you had the kroma mod. Cheers :)

Speak fer yersef Hoss. The man said he wants "fill and vape" I'll choose to recommend exactly what he's asking fer, if'n y'all don't mind sir.

@Jacko82 I was sorta in the same boat as you. Was rebuilding whatever I could get my hands on. Doing subohm DTL and making my own juice. Since I've got 3+ litres of nic in the freezer I'll continue making the juice. But everything else got old. I went back to my old ego setups and was quite content with them.

Then I got my first technologically current pod system. Game changer! Literally just fill and vape The vape puts my egos to shame. Has 3 power levels to choose from. Has preset auto temp control = never a dry hit and ya don't need a college course in how to set it up. Draw activated no fire button. The only thing missing is air flow control. AND THAT WAS A PROBLEM FOR ME! For about 5 minutes until I realized how easy it was to cut the airflow down to match my clearos. The airflow is fine ''as is" outta the box for some users. But if you're like me and need to get it tighter all it takes is a little piece of paper towel jammed between the battery and the pod, like so....

I've been vaping this thing all day every day for 4 weeks now. Refill (2ml) and recharge (650 mAh) once daily. Still using the original pod. Pods cost $8 shipped for a pack of 2. That works out to $1 a week for replacement pods. Now let everyone jump in and holler what a hideously, insane waste of money pod systems are.

Ok so what the heck am I talkin about? This....

Check it out fer yersef!

Vape Kits | Zero Kit | Vaporesso

Edit: By the way, in 4 weeks of use I DID find one drop of juice had leaked! Chalked it up to user error.

Welcome back!!

I am on my 3rd attempt at vaping and this has been my most successful. Am toying with DTL at the moment but in terms of MTL tanks, the Zenith is one of the simplest in terms of refill and replacing stock coils.

I have also re-discovered my Nautilus 2 - still a bit of a pain to refill but I love the taste.

Can't comment on pods as I have never used them but one of the managers at my work swears by his!

Now, Little Joe. ;) What I recommendeded was exactly what he was asking for, too. "Fill and vape". You can't get much easier than a Kroma/Zenith or Aegis Mini/Cerberus combo setup.

Want simple?

Innokin EQ or Vapresso Zero pods. I have not touched my full sized gear since trying them. I prefer the Zero. My wife direct lungs and prefers the EQ.

The EQ provides a better throat hit where the Zero is smooooooth. Like foggy road said, no dry hits at all (from either).

Figure about $30 for the unit and some spare pods. Flavor-wise, both do very well. I'd say your quest for which flavor is too broad of a question. Maybe you could tell us your preference in types such as swwet, sour, tobacco etc. But both do well with thicker juices like 70-80% vg.

Welcome back. It's a great time to vape.
