My transition from 40 years of 2 pad smoking actually went quite smoothly. I didn't experience any type of withdrawal symptoms. No nicotine fits, irritability, etc. Unfortunately, exercising has not become any easier. I did lose the smoker's cough tho. But there has really been no dramatic change to my physical health that I can actually feel. My high BP didn't even get any lower.

I think I am the exception tho, most of those that have posted here report exercising has become easier for them, and that breathing and blood pressure are much improved.

It's been 4 years real cig free for me. All I can really say is how much better I began to feel and how soon. We own horses and they can be a workout on their own. The days of losing breathe after running around with them or that heaviness on my chest are long gone. My sense of smell improved. My sense of taste. I could take a deep breath first thing in the morning and hold it without that need to cough or the feeling of stress on my chest. All of this started to occur for me after the first week of switching from real to electronic. I really have no negative side affects to speak of. Not sure how long you have in but I wish you the best of success. You're worth it!

The following is from my first post on ECF which was actually this month:

"New to ECF. Smoked real cigs for over 35 years. Been smoke free since May 26 2012, the day I started using e-cigs. Since then I’ve lost 95 pounds, high blood pressure is gone, type II diabetes is gone, all my prescriptions that I had to take are gone, constant coughing and otc meds are gone, I have more money in my pocket and got my breath back. I can hike, jog and swim the entire length of the pool at my gym underwater. (I couldn’t even walk to my garage without being out of breath before.)"

I was on two types of blood pressure medication, two types of diabetes medication, cough drops, mucinex, nasal spray, probably more if I cared to think about it. Excercising easier yes definetly, I had become a pain in the ... and hard to keep up with as far as the exercise thing earlier on with my girlfriend who struggled to catch up, but the colder weather has slowed me down for now. No withdrawl, only relief to be free of real cigarettes. I often had to stop myself from hanging my e-cig out the window of my car and trying to flick the ash off the end of it. My constant bad coughing fits went away. As far as acne, nothing out of the ordinary.

My experience:
When I first started vaping, I coughed on day one and day two - after that I learned how to properly draw on my eGo and was good after that.
The second week I broke out in a fine rash across the back of my neck...I attribute that to my body being angry with me because I wasn't burning ciggys and detoxing. The rash went away and no problems since.
I didn't really have any classic withdrawal symptoms because I had a juice with a high enough nic in it so there was no suffering.

I was a 1 1/2PAD smoker. I started off with 18mg. I did use one packet of SNUS in the morning when I got into my work truck to keep the crazies down. I should have started off with 24mg and probably could have not used the SNUS. I did not experience analog rage as I had in the past quitting cold turkey, weaning, chewing nicorette.

I still cough up some phlegm every day, but that isn't as bad as it used to be. My sinus has cleared up a lot and I don't need to take my daily antihistamine. I was having some sleep difficulties the first week, but I don't have the nightmares that I have had when I've quit in the past.

To compare vaping to trying to quit with standard NRT or cold turkey, this has been an absolute breeze!

My smoking history is in my sig line. I haven't touched a cig since my first vape, close to two years ago. The only 'bakky secession manifestations were minor scalp eruptions and annoying nasal 'pimples' in the most remote and unreachable caverns of the nostrils! No said issues for over a year.

My systolic and diastolic BP went down 15 'points' and O2 absorption level went from 92 to 98! Plus my dentist was very impressed with my gum health.

As to exercising, I now can do more 12 oz. reps...

For the first week and a half, my co-workers had said I was a bit more of a grump than usual. I figure thats possible but I didn't really feel like I was. It didn't feel at all like when I had gone long busy periods without a smoke anyway. I just wrote it off as being due to my no longer taking in all the other addictive substances present in analog smoke. It seemd to pass though, as they commented at the 2-week mark that I was back to my normal self.

At 2 weeks on, I noticed my lungs had cleared up, no more waking up with fluid bubbling deep in my chest. Foods started to taste better and sense of smell either returned or perhaps became a super-power.

3 weeks plus and I notice I am actually remembering my dreams! I havn't actually woke up and remembered having any dreams at all for quite a long time now. In fact, in the last 5 years since I went 'clean and sober', analogs being my only vice, i've only been able to sleep for maybe 4-6 hours, always waking up well before the alarm clock. Now i'm sleeping deeply and smacking that 'snooze' button for a good half hour before I crawl out of bed. Don't know if thats good or bad, but i'm definitely well rested.

I'm at 6 weeks now since my last analog and havn't noticed anything different really since the 3-4 week mark. There may be personality changes that I don't notice in myself, but if so, the people around me on a regular basis havn't said anything. Also, not once since I started vaping did I ever crave, or feel like I needed to light up another analog. It may be that, for me, vaping was such a perfect 'drop in replacement' for smoking in my life, that I forgot all about the analogs.

This has been a description of my own experience since I started vaping and quit smoking on the same day back in December 2012. Of course all people being different, mileage may vary wildly.

Excercize? Whazzat! I havn't quit being a couch potato yet. ONE THING AT A TIME!

Thanks for all the good info. Today is actually my one week milestone. I was even able to go out this past weekend and not smoke. I'm saving money and I feel better. I am having weird dreams, but my urge to smoke is almost completely gone. I don't think about it so much any more, except after a meal but then I vape. I do find it comforting to smell a lit cigarette, I have always liked that smell for some reason, I remember enjoying it as a kid. I feel better in the mornings. I haven't developed a cough, and never had one in the 10 years I smoked. To me that's weird. I've already moved down to 9mg/ml, so I'm highly impressed and pleased with my ecig. Hopefully ill make it another week without an analog. From what I've heard the longer you go the easier it gets, not that it's been terribly hard, but yes it's been a small adjustment

I didnt have withdraws, I basically quit smoking cigs and went full vapor. I am constantly puffing on my PV at home, I time myself at work.

The only thing that did happen was a very dry throat, my uvula also tripled in size once. Just had to start drinking more water, though, now that I am just about at two weeks I am starting to notice a stronger sense of smell... which isnt also a good thing.

Oh, and my farts are horrible.

Until I upped my nicotine from 18 mg to 24 mg I was cranky and snippy and still smoking 1/2 a pack a day. When I did quit completely I noticed the smoker's cough going away. Then I got an attack of acne that rivaled my teenage son's along with painful, gross mouth ulcers. Thank goodness that's all behind me now and I have noticed that I'm not short of breath from walking up and down the stairs. Something that I was really starting to worry about six months ago.

Like Clypto, I quit smoking cigarettes and went full vapor - went from Marlboro Menthol Lights to my eGo Twist and Kanger T2s and T3s.
I started vaping on January 6, I was still smoking but then suddenly lost the interest in cigarettes, couldn't stand the smell of them and when I exhaled through my nostrils, I found it sickening!

I smoked what I hope to be my last analog on Saturday, January 19, and honestly have just lost the desire for them! I absolutely love vaping!

That's a big hurdle Kayo... good job! Once you find vaping to be preferable and realize how bad analogs were (stink, taste, cost, etc.) you're well on your way - GL to ya on sticking with vaping.
