It seems likes I've seen a lot of people lately who had quit vaping at some time in the past and are now giving it another go. I'm curious about your stories.

Why did you quit and what influenced you to give it another try? How is it going this time? Do you think you will stick with it now as opposed to earlier attempts?

Thanks, and I'm just curious. No further agenda.

E-cigs really sucked three and a half years ago. I got real tired of getting more juice on my hands and in my mouth than vapor in my lungs. The one I had really only worked with dripping. A cart would give you some initial time but before long you were down to dripping on the cart often.
And I had panic issues over not trusting the juice. Come to find out a lot of that seemed to be a reaction to PG.

I quit with the intent to keep an eye on e-cigs. Which I did but all I ever saw was bigger and bigger batteries. Still the same ol' same ol' with the carts and cartos that were my main problem.
Then someone spammed me on YouTube with an external tank. I wasn't too thrilled with that because it was still strapped to the same ol' same ol', but it got me digging around. Then I came across the eGo-C, now there was some kind of advance in what I saw as the main problem.

I pulled out my old 4072s and some old 0mg juice to get myself going again (at the time I thought it was the nicotine I had the issues with) and read ECF. I was right back into panicking and lung pain. Read more on ECF and saw others with PG issues. I ordered some PG free, tried it in the 4072s and didn't have a problem. Ordered the eGo-C and haven't had a problem since.

I agree with Myk about Electronic Smoking not being up as good as it is now compared to several years back. It has improved by centuries it seems. I tried the disposables "way" back then, I liked them but wow, once I tried a modified electronic cigarette, I was in love. It makes a huge difference. I didn't personally have a hard time letting go of the typical cigarettes though, vaping is more diverse as far as what flavors you can choose, what strengths etc. it's got a lot going on compared to traditional cigarettes. :) I say this in the best kind of way!!!

I had a 901 had some of the same problems as Myk but I was still mostly off analogs what really got me smoking again was a coworker decided that since I didn't have to go outside to smoke I didn't need breaks. So she would leave me to do all the work and go out to smoke for a half hour to an hour at a time. I got so fed up with her one day I bought a pack went out and chain smoked like half a pack. A friend started showing me his mods and letting me try them the big battery mods got me back in to vaping.

I thought that would probably be a big reason, the technological improvements. I didn't even know vaping existed until about a year ago, so I missed all the 'old fashioned' e-cigs.

Funny thing though... When I was in grad school I took an scientific ethics class. It was taught by a prof who was a former employee of either RJR or Phillip Morris (can't remember which). He brought what I now assume was an electronic cigarette to show us. It was what he had been working on while he was employed there. I was intrigued by it, but he said they stopped research and development because of all the hoops they would have to jump through in order to get it by the FDA. I remember thinking what a shame that was and wishing there was something like that available. I then forgot completely about them. That had to have been between 2000-2002.

I started and quit in November of 2010. My selected device was tremendously, horribly, and quite perfectly - terrible.

I started again in November of 2011. Selected a better, yet still not great, entry level device. Desire to succeed led me to upgrade, and upgrade, and upgrade, and upgrade... (you get the picture). 8 inches and 7.1 ounces later, I am a vaper for life.

And now spending approx. 30% of what I'd been spending (monthly) on Marlboro Mediums and Virginia Slim Lights (wife smoked and vapes too). Same equipment process for her as with me, and both have settled in the same spot. Funny how life works...

All in all, it's all good.

Started a few years ago. Regular 510 kit got my wife hooked. She stuck to it i didn't. Not saying her job is easier because i know what it takes to keep the house and kids in order but i think that for me it just didn't fit with my work schedule. Ultimately i quit because i was tired of all the fiddling i had to do to get it to work. I'm blue collar and my hands are dirty more than not. I didn't like having to run and get a new battery or refill a cart. I work in the oil and gas industry and am gone for weeks at a time sometimes and i just couldn't bring myself to leave the security of land without a couple of packs of stinkies. Another problem was the attention. I didn't like answering questions about what i was "smoking" nor do i really care to converse with strangers. As i started seeing more and more people offshore with ecigs it dawned on me that im doing something better for myself and screw what anyone thinks. Since then it has still been a struggle. I am currently at 2 weeks without a regular cig which is the longest ive been. I credit ce4's and the fact that i haven't been offshore in a lil bit. Next time i go out it will be with ecigs only and well we will see what happens.

Why did I quit vaping? It's no one factor really, but I guess in the end what it came down to is that I got frustrated that I couldn't quit smoking analogues, and that really was just because vaping felt like a diet compared to a "real cig". I started on a 510, then started using boge cartos. Then in an effort to make it feel more like smoking, I started using manual 510 batteries with the cartos. That lead me to the Bloog. It had a marvelous manual battery, never had one fail, and their cartos were awesome too. Never had one leak on me. In the end though, while I enjoyed the Bloog even more, I still never felt satisfied. I blamed the juices, and ordered a huge selection of all kinds of premium stuff that people claimed was their all-day vape. I got BWB, AVE, Vermilion River, Johnsons Creek, Vapor station, Vaperite, etc, but I still couldn't get satisfied and couldn't get below 3-4 cigs a day (down from 20-30). I didn't want to smoke less, I wanted to smoke none. I tried and tried but couldn't get there. Then people were recommending me all kinds of expensive mods, etc, and by this point I had already spent $1,100 (but really only about $450 after you take out my savings from smoking), so I didn't really want to drop any more money on yet another juice or device that wouldn't help me quit smoking. ...so I quit.

Now it has been a year, and I got the itch to try again. Really I think it was that my wife and son got a cold that lasted them about three days each, and I was sick with it for three+ weeks and had it develop into bronchitis and almost pneumonia. Even during that illness I couldn't get below 2-3 cigs a day, so I decided I had to try to quit again. I looked into other options but nothing looked appealing, and I remembered that vaping was almost good enough, so I thought I'd come share my story here and see if I could get pointed in the right direction. I did, and got myself set up with a provari mini, and WTA. These two have done the trick, and as of posting this it has been 9 days since my last analogue. That is my longest stretch since I started smoking over five years ago.

I think I missed the worst of it. When I started, the first ego-t had just come out. There was a gigantic thread on it. However, there were still a few posts about cartridge mods. I don't think anyone uses those any more but, I tried to. I tried the straw mod and blue foam but, I gave up and went to cartos before I tried a PTB (Pyramid Tea Bag). All of that was in the middle of fading away when started. I can easily see someone getting frustrated back then. Over the last year things have moved a lot faster than they have previously. There's more reason to stick with it.

I first started when the eGo's were introduced...I bought a kit from Totally Wicked. I loved my hobby at first, but it never gave me enough to totally quit smoking. The atties were a royal pain to keep cleaning, blue foam, tea bag, and polyfill were all giant PITA. I got tired of priming, refilling, cleaning up floods, getting nasty dry hits and burned filler draws. Various things happened in my life around that same time and I just went back to full time smoking.
This year has been a _itch for me. I also get tired of the constant onslaught of smoking bans, new hire drug screens that include, or threaten to include, a nicotine screen. The govt has given the okay to bully, sneer at, and otherwise harass smokers. And...the cost. I am "lucky" to only pay +/- $5.00 a pack here in GA, but it's still a huge bite when I smoked 2 pad!
So...I dug out my eGo's and had another look here at ECF. I found tanks and clearomizers...no more fillers!!! Now, I am over a month without a cigarette!!

Somewhere out there
I tried ecigs 3 yrs ago too, I loved the concept put the performance sucked. Batt would only last about 15 puffs, had an atty and cart, didn't hold much juice, a drop or too, I was way too frustrated with it and went back to analogs. Then one year ago I bought a couple disposables to try again, and they were way better, then got a few 808 kits and cartos, and I was in love with new technology. Now have a Provari, use glass tanks and I love it! For me it is vaping heaven. bnrk

I just checked the site Smart Fixx where I bought my first ecig kit and they have totally gone to cartos, you cannot even buy what I got years ago called a super mini. They are expensive too. I still have a bunch of carts I bought years back!

Same as other posters. Started about 3.5 years ago, vaped for a while, but filling of those little cartridges were a pain. Plus the Totally Wicked, Copper Creek and Chinese juices at that time weren't doing much for me, so I got bored and fed up. Returning back on the scene, I imported a few good juices, some eGo's and bigger PV's. I gave up smoking immediately and with no problems at all.
What did it for me was; good tasty juices and cartomizers! When I left the scene the last time, caromizers had just exploded, but the die hard atty folks were saying what junk they were... sigh... so I believed them and never tried it. I am sure that if I had tried cartomizers years ago, I would have quit smoking sooner. Basically it was atties and the juices that I hated .

I started vaping in late 2009 with a Joye 510, I liked it bought all the extras I could, (USB passthrouh, PCC, Extra batteries, tons of juice) worked great for me for a while then bought a Joye Stick. I kept on it for about 6 months. It started getting tough always cleaning out carts and re stuffing all the time, and the juice constantly drying up. The selection for a decently priced PV was pretty slim, no chance of getting a VV. The nail in the coffin though was living in a house with 2 heavy smokers that ALWAYS smoked in the house. Just ended up slipping back to cigs.

A few months ago a co-worker told me her Uncle gave her an e-cig and she didn't like it and offered the supplies to me. She handed me an Ego-T and I looked at it with surprise since I never heard of them when I was vaping. Tried it and fell in love. I found out 2 local vape shops popped up in my area headed to one and bought some good juice, tanks, vivi novas, Lava Tube, etc. I couldn't believe how great the selection had gotten and how great the prices are now. Now living alone I don't have to be around smokers any more and have no craving for a cigarette what so ever. And a quick shot out to Evergreen Vapor in Tacoma for all the help getting back to vaping.

FYI. I freaking love my Lava Tube, saved me from smoking.

Cartos from back then wouldn't have saved me. I've tried a modern one and while I'll recommend them to someone I know, I don't like the filling.

Thanks for answering everyone! I've run into so many people who have 'tried one of those, and it sucked'. So I was wondering what sorts if things will convince people to try again.

If any of you are still reading this thread, were most of you involved with ECF for the first go round with vaping? I'm sure that would make a big difference. A lot of the people I've talked to, who tried it and didn't like it, never found a place like ECF. So they would be less likely to hear about improvements.

I hope this post makes sense. I'm only about 1/4 way through my first cup of coffee, so the sentences and grammar and stuff... they are hard.
