ok, i have been on this forum for.. 2-3 months? i have heard countless warnings about new folks and mech mod. they are justifiable warnings. the battery, if not handled properly will vent and at worst blow up on your face.

so what a new person should do is they really want mech mod.

first thing you have to understand is battery. there are lot of batteries out there. however, what you are looking for is battery from reliable vendor who sells high discharge battery with Constant Drain Rate of 20 A or higher. Sony batteries are the best, but they are hard to find Samsung 25R will meet most needs.

the reason why you want high CDR is so the battery won't get drawn too hard. you want to build your coil so it will not draw beyond what CDR is for that battery. i only draw about half of that to be on safe side.

once you know that, you will need some sort of multimeter. if you have had high school or college physics, you might have some clunky multimeter you used back them. i use one from 1986 or something. digital multimeter that still functions.

after you build your coil and set up the atty, you want to check the resistance of the atty. if you look at the bottom of the atty, there is negative and positive parts. the positive part is the center pin, and negative is.. anything other than positive part. you want your red probe on the positive and black probe on anything other than positive post. your multimeter will read the ohm of the resistance. make sure the screws holding the coils are tightened well enough that there will be current. otherwise, the reading will be all over the place, or it won't read right.

typically, you want the resistance to be above .4 or .5 using battery with 20 A of CDR.

next thing you want to do is using good battery charger. bad ones can also cause problem such as fire.

also, the mech mod. most of them should have some locking mechanism so it will not auto fire. however, some has recessed button so when stood up right, it will not fire. either way, make sure to store them in such way accidental fire will not occur.

do not press the button for too long. two things can happen. 1) your juice will burn and give nasty taste, and 2) your battery will get hot. neither of them are good.

so if you are newbie like me and like to use mech mod then regulated ones. read more about them and see if it's something you would like to use.

i'm not sure if mech mod is for advanced users, but i know mech mod is for well informed users.

Good sound advice there and cannot be given too much to people I recently went into a brick and mortar store with the owner selling rbas and mech mods on his front display he didn't know half of what you posted there and seemed genuinely shocked when I told him if he sells one to someone who doesn't know what there doing he could be in trouble mechs when used properly are one of the best vaping experiences you can buy but at worst are a small pocket pipe bomb
