Stock up on nic, asap

use a scale to mix, make sure it is accurate to the 0.01g or in other words, the hundredth of a gram, taking AAA batteries is a big plus, they as well as good PG/VG are available on Amazon.

As for flavors, try the recipe sites for either similar sounding recipes, or find a popular apple or such and see what flavors others have used with it... Sorry, can't be more helpful than that.

Yes, get the nic first, and NOW. As the crackdown continues, it's becoming harder to find and the price is going up. Get 100 mg/ml, in PG or VG, whichever is closer to what you want your final to be. (IF you're comfortable with higher percentages, with the knowledge of how to handle the higher strength stuff, that's fine.)

PG, VG and flavors should be ok for the long haul, as they're used in lots of industries, so no real rush on them. Random shortages will happen, especially now with the world wide supply issues on lots of stuff.

Many here get flavors from

Bull City Flavors - Largest Selection & Best Prices on Flavoring
and
Gremberry Farms

And come join us over here, a whole host of mixed up mixers. ;)

Amount to add varies, a lot, per personal preference, so noone can really tell you what to use. I like to keep mine to about 10%, others more, others less. What counts is how it tastes to you.

I'll toss in a few tips, in no particular order.

1) People are saying "get Nicotine NOW" with good reason. The "Build Back Better" legislation has a tax buried in it that's intended to add $5 to a 30ml bottle of 6mg juice. But it's defined by mg of nicotine, and adds $2700 (yes - that's correct - I checked) to a liter of 100mg nicotine. Which up until recently, cost like $50. Yes, it's insane. But also yes - it means our Nic suppliers may not be able to sell to us anymore. It's already become tricky to get it SHIPPED because of the "we won't ship vaping products" bull..... So yes - get some nic, decide if you intend to mix ongoing, then maybe get a bunch. Personally, I have 15 years worth of nicotine in a little freezer.

2) Mixing is SIMPLE. Don't go nuts. All you need is some PG, VG, nic, and flavoring.
It's a GREAT idea to start by trying to replicate a juice you like. You MIGHT find someone with a "clone recipe".
That's where I started: trying to make a clone of Tribeca, from Halo, because it was expensive, lol.

3) I like ejuicemeup. It's a little program for PC, not an app - but that suits me. I mix on my desk, where I have....a desktop PC. It's got a bunch of recipes built-in, lets you add or edit a recipe and "save as"...for me it's nice and simple.

4) You need to decide if you'd prefer to mix "by weight" or "by volume".
If by weight - you need a scale. If by volume, you need syringes. Me, I've gotten to the point where I make BIG batches, so I also use some graduated glass thingies to measure.

5) Someone else posted the link to the list of "companies still shipping Nicotine". That's a GREAT link - I'd use that for nicotine.
6) Then FIND A RECIPE you want to make - and THAT will define where you go to get Flavorings. The flavoring vendor or Nic vendor might also be a good source for VG and PG. If not - come back again and ask where people get that.

FINALLY - it's really pretty easy. Some people get crazy - but you don't have to. If you can make cookies from scratch, you can make e-liquid.

As others have mentioned, nic should be your first purchase if you are even considering mixing at all. That choice will not likely be around for very long, and even if it is, not likely at a reasonable price.

That being said, there are nic calculators out there that will tell you how long a nic supply will last at your current rate of juice consumption per day based on what strength of nic you plan on vaping at.

For example, a gallon (3875 mL) of 100 mg/mL nic solution will last me about 23 years vaping 15 mL per day of 3 mg/mL nic juice. I'm considering reducing that down to 1.5 mg/mL nic strength which would double the supply and longevity. If you vape more than that, or at higher nic potency, then you're going to want to purchase accordingly.
