There are two places I wouldn't vape: a library, and a museum. Not because vaping would be considered "objectionable" there, but for environmental reasons. Books and paintings are very sensitive to humidity, and clouds of vapor probably wouldn't be good for them.

(In the interest of complete disclosure, I have to admit that most of the books in my public library would be well served if they were "humidified" into oblivion...!)

I think it's fine to vape in a socially courteous manner in public spaces and I completely support people who want or need a much safer alternative to cigarettes. I don't find them foul or offensive or slovenly or rude or endangering children/puppies/kittens or any of the other hateful stereotypes hyped by the anti-smoker mindset. I believe there is less than a gnat's width worth of difference between the right to buy vaping supplies and the right to vape in public - neither one will matter without the other and both are required for more people to live longer, healthier lives.

Second, there may be some issue with the vapor and books.

Many libraries have rare book collections, as well as historical archives.

Many libraries also have art collections, in the form of paintings, sculptures, etc.

I can't imagine why libraries would allow any kind of activity, including drinking, eating, vaping, smoking, chewing, etc. I've never been in any that allow any of these things, as the afore-mentioned collections I noted are all valuable and easily damaged.

I do not support vaping in libraries, sorry. Esp. where there are rare collections, which are historically and otherwise in the general scheme of things, more important to me than being able to vape while looking at them.
