Coming here as a noob not so very long ago, I didn't even have enough knowledge to know what to search for, or what to ask, or whom to ask. Much like BMWJen, whom I respect greatly, I belong to a truck forum, two car forums, and two gun forums. They're straightforward, all right...ask a SPECIFIC question, and it BETTER be in the right section, and you'd BETTER already know what you're talking about, and MAYBE in a week or three someone will post something resembling a useful answer other than "Just buy a Ford/Dodge/Colt or you suck"...you get the idea. What I loved about here, and what has kept me here a LOT and kept me off analogs for three months is that there are ALWAYS people here chatting it up. I lurked along until I didn't feel completely stoopid anymore, started asking questions, and IMMEDIATELY got thoughtful, articulate answers, advice, links, pics, offers to send me things to try, or other/better people to ask. I stumbled into the Lavacorps thread the other day and was immediately lost, and overwhelmed, and had no idea who Jon was or how to even look at a Lavatank...so I asked one question...and five minutes later I knew everything there was to know about the tank, how to get one, what colors there were, how much they were, how they worked, how great they worked, and had seven links to videos to watch. Who needs a search function? Word of mouth and live answers is FAR better. Viva la chit-chat!
