zoid, there have been quite a few people still experiencing lag while others don't have that problem.
i imagine i'm getting to ecf through a different server than whis .....

It's just Darn Hard to know what the Problem could be.

Could be Something in the Browser. Could be Something in the O/S. Could be something in the Firewal/Anti-Virus. Could be on the ECF's end.

Without some Commonality of people who are having a problem, I'm no sure how or what should be tried.

If everyone who had a problem was say Using a certain Firewall, then a peron could maybe rule out the Browser and Focus on the Firewall.

Tibs is correct.

...and I have mentioned it a few times as well. I use three different computers, one of them from two different locations.

I notice the lag with these activities:
... getting TO notifications
... getting OUT of the resulting notification screens (PMs and "likes")
... getting into threads by clicking the last page (eg: the "14209" button for "Response on threads")

Roly, from about 7pm Eastern I gave up trying at 9pm

Zoid, same as you IE windows 7

I simple way to rule out a hardware or connection problem on your end is to try logging into ECF during a different time period. If the problem is non-existent at say 8am then the problem is more than likely related to net congestion on ECF's end during prime time.

I run a simple virus and malware setup combined with Adblock Plus on Firefox 10. Although there are times when the board is slow, it's not slow all the time and at it's worst (during prime time) it's still fast enough. I can expect 5 to 10 seconds waiting for a page to update sometimes. Then there are times when only a second or two is experienced.

Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes (the $24.95 lifetime paid version with real time protection) keep me clean and free of threats. I frequently get little messages in my taskbar that Malwarebytes blocked a re-direct to a rogue web site, not from ECF, but in the normal range of browsing in a particular day.

You might want to run Windows Defender to check for nasties. You can open it from the start icon by typing defender in the search box at the start button. I'd also recommend downloading Malwarebytes and running a scan on your computer ... that's free. Microsoft Security essentials is also free and heartily recommended by those who test antivirus software. Even if those don't find anything, at least you'll know that your computer is clean and you can concentrate on other reasons, like your ISP.
