My online card isn't linked to my main account. It's actually overdrawn now.

Okay, that's totally smart. Opening a free checking account, transferring just enough into it and getting a debit card. I'm TOTALLY doing that. Duh. Why didn't I think of that? Because I like to make things more complicated than they need to be.

GENIUS!

Rant all you want. Let it out, brother. I've been there, too, trust me.

Then I got wise and got a pre-paid debit card.

School of Hard Knocks, man.

K, I have had enough of this. Yes I understand that I can use a prepaid card etc etc but this is not the point.
I have never experience this before in my 10+ year online purchasing. Why are these businesses not doing anything
to try to stop fraud charges?? This has been happening a lot lately and they don't seem to care to investigate what
might be causing all this.. Maybe they should invest in more secure shopping cart software that has been proven to
be secure and is supported so that if there is any security issues they can be patched right away. Or use trusted
cc processing company such as authorized.net?? This is super bad news for new ecig users that are just starting out
or for people that have limited funds in their accounts which can keep them in the negative for few days until their bank
resolves it... There is no excuses for this to continue...

Here is the list of companies I have purchased from in the last 2 months.
I say stay away from them until they come forward and assure us that they have
taken steps to check or fix this problem.

We should implement some sort of trusted vendor list with vendors showing that they have taken
steps to make sure that their shopping cart is secure as well as they credit card processor is trusted.

Sorry I had to vent, this is the second time it has happened. I was hit for $2500 today and now I'm in the negative.
this is the second time this year. Seems that retailers are not taking any steps to prevent this from happening.

I'm not the genius it's Wells Fargo
It's part of my banking package, just like savings. It's just a separate virtual visa #.

One more point. It's not the vendor's explicit fault. Do you really believe they'd lie to you and steal your money or hack your account? It's all being done on the outside. Don't blame the vendor, blame the hackers and the CC processing company.

ECF is scaring me, sometimes. What it might become.

There have been REPEATED responses and answers as to why this is happening. If you don't do your research or CYA, it's YOUR fault, and NO ONE else's.

How do you know it's because of shopping at these sites? It can be from local purchases and card scanners with a false front at ATMs or any retailer like Walmart or the grocery store. This can happen any number of ways and is constantly being talked about in online news sites. Not to mention every major company has been hacked in the last year. My state income tax system was hacked last year.

Sorry but if its the same vendors that people use and get hit with fraudulent charges this means one thing. They are either using a shopping cart software that is free and opened source which can be used by hackers to find weak points in the cart which in turn can enable them to inject code to capture data that is being entered and submitted before it gets send to the cc processor or they are just using shopping cart software that is coded with bunch of holes in it. Or they are using credit card processor which is either small and might have holes in its code as well or cc processing company that sells CC numbers. I have run online businesses online before and have done ton of research about shopping carts and cc processing companies. After weeks of research testing I have settled on shopping cart that cost $450 per license which out of all the ones out there was super secure with on the fly patching system. Also for credit card processors I have used one that has been in business for a decade with no known issues. I have never had any customers come back to me suggesting that they might have had card fraud because they have purchased through me. I'm thinking that lots of these businesses know how to get great product and make great e juices but have no clue on how to create secure sites. Which should be their #1 priority as an online vendor

Wow...... That is a mouth full to say I know better, got burned, and did it again anyway.

So Assuming you are 100% and I know jack...........How it is Sony with all it's security got hacked and all that info stolen?
NOTHING is 100% secure and anything that moves from point a to b may be intercepted, at any point.

Never mind, I learned from reports and changed up before getting slammed.

I would suggest if a Dealer that has been online for quite some time suddenly being the target of suspicion is rather odd. If they were so incompetent, what took so long to cause this? Should they have consulted a crystal ball to know in advance their system was now lacking and would be compromised?

I am a victim of Identity Theft in the Millions, my identity was stolen when I was only 16 or even younger and the people (never been caught) bought houses, cars, yacht, and other stuff. I understand your situation all to well, my credit sucks and yea.

Just stay focus get this situation corrected and learn from that mistake and stay more vigilant and secure when it comes to online shopping.

How is that even possible? No one that I know of has any valid credit at 16 or even younger. From what I remember, credit starts at 18 years of age.

My identity was stolen around the age of 16 and it's possible...

You answered your own question in red, I won't go into details...I was just stating I understand fraud as a victim, if you aren't a victim you will never understand the possibilities that can occur.

You start building credit as soon as trade lines (accounts) start to appear on your credit report and, according to Nichole Mustard, vice president of strategy for CreditKarma, that generally happens once a person becomes a primary account holder for a line of credit, be it a credit card, auto loan, etc., regardless of his or her age.

I was referring to credit and not credit cards...
