How to play: We want to know more about ethyl maltol. So post a recipe which has ethyl maltol as an ingredient.

4. Make sure your recipe has ethyl maltol in it.

Recipe Name: Marthas Vanilla Maltol
Recipe Size: 30ml
Ingredients: Propylene Glycol, ethyl maltol, vanilla.

5ml of FlavourArt Vanilla Classic
5 ml of Ethyl Maltol (See instructions on how to make the ethyl maltol base below)
20ml Propylene Glycol

To make my ethyl maltol base, I heat up 50ml of Propylene Glycol in the microwave for about 1 minute, then I put 7 grams of ethyl maltol in this PG. Stir until dissolved.

Let steep for 7 days, then enjoy!

Recipe Name: Basement Barreled Blackberry Brandy
Recipe Size: 30ml
Ingredients: Propylene Glycol, Ethyl Maltol, Lorann's Blackberry, Lorann's Brandy (optional: Q-Hit)

Goal: 30 ml

1 ml Lorann Blackberry
1.5 ml Lorann Brandy
1/2 tsp (about 2.5 ml) Ethyl Maltol Crystal (Crushed fine)
25 ml Propylene Glycol

Mix 15 ml PG along with the Loranns flavorings with 1/2 tsp EM crystals crushed very fine inside your container of choice.

Place bottle in a dish of hot (not boiling water) heated 3 separate times over shaking vigorously as needed and cooling in between. (about 45 mins altogether) Our goal here is to dissolve as much of the crystal as possible.

Sometimes all crystals will not dissolve, but this is okay.

Fill the rest of the bottle with PG until you've hit 30 ml.

Let steep for at least 5 days in a dark room temperature area, shaking vigorously when you have the chance.

Your end result will be an absolutely delicious e-juice you can vape anytime of the day.

*Some recommend adding Q-Hit as this is a lighter juice*

I don't have any real recipes drawn out yet. But I made an EM blend using 25ml PG and 25ml VG. In a bottle I put in 1/4 tablespoon EM and shook it as much as I could. I then added another 1/4 tablespoon, shook it. Heat it in the microwave without a top on until its almost too hot you can't hold the container. Shake it very good. If there are not EM crystals left undisolved as a 1/4 tablespoon more, reheat and shake the heck out of it. Repeat adding a 1/4 tablespoon until you end up with crystals left undisolved.

Let this sit for an hour. Shake it up a lot more. Reheat it until its almost too hot to handle. Shake it up some more. If there are no EM crystals showing. Repeat the above adding a 1/5 tablespoon until you have crystals showing in the bottom.

Drain off the remaining liquid into a fresh bottle and use this to sweetener your DIY's. Use the original bottom when you are ready to make a more sweetener.

This method allows for a very sweet liquid without a lot taking a lot of ml's in the mix

Recipe Name: Cherry Kiss
Recipe Size: 30ml
Ingredients: Propylene Glycol, Vegetable Glycerine, Ethyl Malto Crystals, TPA Double Chocolate (dark), Lorann Cherry.

TPA = "The Perfumers Apprentice"

12 ml Propylene Glycol
12 ml Vegetable Glycerin
3 ml of TPA Double Chocolate (dark)
1.8 ml of Ethyl Malto solution (see below)*
1.2 ml of Lorann Cherry

*To create my ethyl malto solution I add 5 grams of ethyl malto crystals to 45 mls of propylene glycol. Put these ingredients in an appropriately sized container and let it sit in a pan of hot water to dissolve the crystals faster and more thoroughly. This will give you approximately 50 ml of a 10% ethyl malto solution (the same ratio as TPA's Cotton Candy pre-mixed flavor) and can then be used to sweeten any recipe!

The above recipe creates a 60% PG / 40% VG ejuice that tastes very much like the Brach's Chocolate Covered Cherry cordials candy. Vape all you want, you won't gain an ounce!

Note: to create a thicker juice that's perfect for dripping, use 18 ml of vegetable glycerine and 6 ml of propylene glycol instead of the above amounts.

easiest EM satuation method I have found:

take 10ml of PG, heat over a burner (preferably electric) just below the vapor point. add EM untill the liquid thickens to a consistency of pure VG, but has no crystals at the bottom. When you have to crush crystals to get them blend, you are done. Remove from heat.

Super saturated solution works great in low amounts.

The flavors used were all LorAnn Super Strength:

Apple Crisp

.5 ml EM solution
1 ml Apple Flavor
.5 ml Cinnamon Roll Flavor
.25 ml Caramel Flavor
.25 English Toffee Flavor

Add to your own mix of 18 ml PG/VG Mix (I prefer 80pg/20vg for carto or 50/50 for dripping)
Depending on your saturation of EM, you may need to add a little more to the mix.
Makes 2x 10ml bottles (roughly)

Whiskey Sour.

Prepare Ethyl Maltol by mixing 3ml with 15 ml PG. Place in double boiler or over pan of hot water for 5 minutes, (not boiling). Shake vigorously, cool, then repeat until crystals are dissolved. Add in 6 ml Vg & 13.5 ml PG for about 80/20 mix or change ratio to your liking.

Mix into the preperation:
1.5 ml Loran Whiskey
3/4 ml Loran Lemon

Shake and steep for a week. (Shaken, not stirred..bottoms up!)

The Cheeky Apricot 10-12 ML:

Take 1 Tbs Southern Comfort, add 1/4 tsp Ethyl Maltol crystal in a shot GLASS. Place in a pan of water at room temp. Level of water should reach half way up the glass. Heat on stove at VERY low heat just until crystals mix when stirred. Remove pan from heat, let it sit. DO Not REMOVE SHOT GLASS- it could shatter from temp change.

in a 15 ml bottle add .9 ml of Loranns(any concentrate brand should work) Apricot flavoring.
Add .6 ml peach flavoring.
Add 1 drop of marshmallow
Add 2 ml of VG
Add 5 ml of PG
Dip a tooth pick in Banana Cream flavoring, if a drop forms, let it fall back into flavoring, you just want a damp toothpick.
Stir mix with the toothpick.
When Ethol Maltol is cool, add to mix at your desired sweetness. Aprox 2 ml for me.
Use more Southern Comfort to thin if necessary.
This is vapable without steeping, but tastes better after a few days.

65% PG (19.5 ml - 390drops)
20% VG (6.0 ml - 120drops)
1% Distilled Water (0.3 ml - 6drops)

Ethyl Maltol base:
In order to create the EM base, i dissolve the EM crystals in a electric oven with PGA (vents on, so no mix of the PGA fumes on the EM crystals). As soon as the crystals are dissolved, i get them out and the dissolution is ready!

The oriental flavour is really nice and smooth, i added the Cool Mint, to have a freshy taste (really good for summer :D), and the EM to have some nice and tasty flavour on the e-liquid.
