I still like to vape, but for the passed month or so, i've been getting some pretty nagging headaches from it. After about 3 hits, the headache starts. But i'm addicted to these things now (or still), so i put up with them. I'm on 12mg nic, 70/30 PG/VG, and tried to drop to 6mg but with little-to-no TH, I couldn't even make it through a tank lol I've been vaping the same brand/mix/flavor for quite some time, not sure what's changed. I've always vaped a pretty consistent amount daily, I'm surprised that my headaches are coming from too much nicotine all of a sudden. I mean nothing's changed from before a month ago, why now all of a sudden? Seems logical to me that if my nic level/amount/daily intake hasn't changed, then my tolerance shouldn't change either. Do any vendors sell a 10mg nic or know a trick to put some flavor/kick to a 6mg juice?

might be a pg allergy. try some higher VG juices.

What I was going to say. Though it's odd that you've never had an issue with this beforehand. Headaches are usually a result of dehydration, and vaping does cause this - are you drinking enough water throughout the day?

Yes, water intake is the same as well. I have a bottle of water at work that i refill at least once a day, and end up chugging it sometimes to get the headaches to ease up just so i can take another hit LOL On a more positive note, it is forcing me to cut back drastically on my vaping. I was up for a whole 2hrs this am before taking a hit, i held off as long as i could. It's making it quite a bit more difficult to keep the analogs away. I "almost" said screw it so i could head out to the smoking gazebo at work :(

I started on 18mg, then dropped to 16 then 12mg pretty quickly (within first few weeks). Was at 90%+ PG, then 80/20/ and now 70/30, also within the first few weeks. I might try 60/40 on my next order this week. Seems like it's been forever since i've even ordered juice, my 30ml bottles have held up pretty well lately.

interesting. Wish I had a better answer for you my man, but I would start with ordering some VG juice at the 18mg level, and see if that fixes anything for you. Otherwise, just vape enough to stave off the analogues, as headaches are better than the big C.

Wow. IDK. Change juice (including vendor for testing purposes)?

Did you ever try NRT's (gum, lozenges)? Did you get headaches from those?

Also to test the theory.... try same flavored juice at zero nic (small sample).

See the DIY section for instructions on how to mix any juice mg and PG/VG you want. You can get some TH back with PGA but it's another variable in the equation.

Just some thoughts....

I am having the same problem all of a sudden. The only thing I have done diff is to increase the vg for more vapor and try to cut the nicotine. I vape around 12-15 mg. I went to less pg and more vg. This is happening in the evenings after vaping all day. I make my own liquids so not much has changed other than that. Am watching this carefully and will advise if I can find a cause.

Even though it didn't happen immediately, I would still think hard about the dehydration possibility. I quit analogs cold turkey and didn't feel any differently right away, but a few weeks in I definitely noticed that I was constantly dehydrated (among other things-I had an epic case of the quit zits lol). I had to make a conscious effort to drink alot more than what I normally would, I would even wake up several times a night with my throat feeling uncomfortably dry. Had to keep bottled water by my bed.

It is a common cause of headaches in general-vaping aside-and it is something you can easily test and remedy. Drink a crapload of water tomorrow and if that was the cause the difference will be noticeable. You might still have to switch to a different pg/vg ratio in the end to find what doesn't dry you out as badly so that you don't have to guzzle water all the time, but for me after the first few months I didn't change anything and my body just seemed to adapt anyway.

I agree with dragonladee.

You said you refill your water bottle at least once a day at work, and that may not be enough. I was having some headache issues when I started vaping and they subsided once I started refilling a 24oz oz bottle of water at least twice a day at work.

Dehydration is sneaky. Don't let yourself get thirsty, don't let your throat dry out, because by then it's too late. That's your body telling you you're already dehydrated.

I noticed that you and another poster getting headaches both decreased the PG percentage and increased the VG. Just a suggestion - maybe go back to 90/10?
Or in the other direction - 100% VG - which would let you know one way or the other pretty instantly I'd say.

PG didn't give me headaches (amazing because everything gives me headaches) but trying PG free would be my first step.
I thought it was on Johnson Creek's FB page but I couldn't find it, I do recall someone recently saying juice from one maker gave them headaches but juice from the one they were addressing didn't, so changing companies would be my second step (probably along with the first step).

I originally vaped PG for a month without a problem. Then it started building up. As the problem increased I cut back to nicotine. I was down to 4mg quickly and soon decided vaping wasn't for me except for special occasions (when I didn't want to go outside and freeze to smoke).
I went back to smoking for 3 years. When I saw equipment was better I pulled out my old e-cigs and my old 0mg PG juice. It was almost instantly the same old problems.
I ordered some PG free juice and have been fine for coming up on 4 months.

If the cause of the headaches really is nicotine (which I doubt) then the only thing going back to cigarettes can do is make things even worse.

1) Most likely dehydration, because two bottles is not nearly enough water
2) Maybe a flavoring, so check with your vendor to see if there have been any changes
3) Go to a doctor because it might (probably) have nothing to do with vaping

I drink about 6 20oz. bottles of water a day. I sit at a desk and stare at a computer screen all day, so I have nothing better to do... But, I too started getting headaches a while back. So, I went and had my eyes checked. Turns out my eyes were having trouble focusing between 2 objects.. i.e. Computer Glasses. That worked for awhile, but now the headaches have gradually come back. Solution this time is to eat something every couple of hours. If I don't, I get headaches and sometimes a little dizzy. Could be hypoglycemia, but I hate needles, so I'm putting it off until it's a real problem.

Not sure if vaping could lead to something like hypoglycemia. Maybe the sweetness of the flavorings getting into your blood stream is like a large overdose on sugar? Or maybe not? Either way, try eating something when you get a headache.

My first vote is dehydration. It can be caused by more than just low water intake. Sodium levels should be upped with higher water intakes but remain in safe levels. Sodium is very important to brain hydration and neuron activity as well.

My second vote is the flavoring as another poster pointed out. You may like the flavor of what your vaping but it may just be too much. I know I have lots of flavors I really like but very few can qualify as all day vapes for me:)

I tend to back away from the immediate idea of PG sensitivity since you had been fine before at higher levels of PG.

I was also getting a massive ends day "vaping headache". Jacking up my H2O intake completely solved the problem for me. And I mean about double what my normal "per-vaping" intake was. There are actually 2 benefits for me : 1.) no more headaches 2.) most of us should drink more water anyway, I feel better in general!

Everyone has great suggestions & observations. May I add 1 more?
OP said he had lots of 30 ml bottles of juice. Have you been shaking them up every time you use juice? I have read here @ ECF that juice ingredients can separate. You might be getting too much of a particular ingredient & not enough of the whole juice.
Resulting in headaches.
So SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE
and
DRINK DRINK DRINK h2o
Good luck. Don't want you to go back to the stinkies
