It took me a while to find what I really like and to stick to it. I'm about 3-4 months in and I'm just now starting to save money over the cigarette habit that I had. If you're really getting into it, I would pick up a kayfun/russian 91/clone and start learning to build your own coils. It's easier than most think and keeps you from looking at every new tank that hits the market.

I think I am getting there, too, Wally. My downfall now is not APVs, it is juice. Every time I read about something else that sounds tasty I end up buying it. I think, though, that I am finally ahead of the game, even with juice purchases. And, truth to tell, if I didn't buy another bottle of juice I would be fine for months. Need to get a grip...maybe.

Just don't add any nicotine and it won't kill you as fast... ;) Too little research has been done on the effects of vaping, pure and simple (flame me if you like, but it's true).

Call me the guinea pig! Have an addiction that lasted over 35 years of huffing (inhaling, smoking, dipping, chewing... just plane ole' huffing) all the chemicals....

Oh'... we know the Nicotine isn't the bad chemical in Tobacco!

i figured that i'd save alot of money since a pack of smokes here is over $6.........save money??? thats a laugh.
i have a friend that told me "its not a habit, its a hobby"

I smoked for 39 yrs; on day 55 of being smoke-free, I had, according to a VERY!!! conservative estimate, avoided 1,000 smokes.

I will have to spend more than a quarter-million dollars before my vape spending comes anywhere near my cigarette spending. I will have to live to be 92 even to spend as much TIME being an ex-smoker, as I spent as a smoker, so I really doubt I'll come close to that $quarter-million mark. :D

Shoot...me, too! I used to hang out on Facebook all day, now it seems I am here into the middle of the night, LOL! I keep having FB friends PMing me and asking if I am okay.

ROFL!!! Everytime I get on Facebook, to do *anything*, I end up spending 2 hrs there! It's like a mind-trap!

Vaping itself is not an addiction but can become a habit, which is why it works so well in helping to quit smoking.
The nicotine in the liquid could be called additive (technically is a dependant), but once the bad smoking habit has been kicked, its quite easy to ween yourself off the nicotine slowly by buying lower and lower doses of liquid :)

Even with shinyitis I am well ahead of the wallet game. I 've spent a little over $2,000 in the last 14 months on vape gear and liquids for myself and my wife, but I would have spent over $7,700 on cigarettes so without trying I have saved almost $5,700!. And that's at the rate of $6,50 per pack of cigarettes, here in Texas. I just got back from Chicago where a pack was over $10.

Vaping is a habit, but then so is breathing, and I don't intend to give that up either.

Vape on.

I think smoking creates addictive personalities to begin with. So once we latch onto vaping, it flows over. I am the type of person that once I get into something, I do research and immerse myself in it. My husband keeps saying that I am vaping more often than I smoked. I don't think I am because I don't sit down and hit my vape 20 times before I am done. I just hit it every so often. Yes I also rationalize everything.

So what if vaping has become a hobby (habit, whatever) for me? I still believe it is 90% better than smoking. And I know I feel better, smell better and look better because of it. But boy do I love waiting on my next package in the mail! Gotta go check my shipments :p .

My husband made a similar observation to me, when I first started vaping regularly, so I gave him just a *TASTE* of what my quitting *without* vaping would be like, at approx 50 dB: "YOU WANT ME TO GO BACK TO SMOKING????" He backed off at lightspeed, and he probably didn't hear too well for a few days, but he never made any further remarks. :D

And you're exactly right: there is a HUGE difference in running outdoors every half hour to suck down a cigarette (mine were 120mm!) as fast as possible, and being able to take a hit from a vape at will, anytime you feel like it. This is even better than when I used to chainsmoke in the house, because probably half my cigarette consumption burned away uselessly in the ashtray -- this just sits there waiting patiently for my next hit. :)

And I'd say it's 99.999% better than smoking, healthwise. Maybe more. :D

I didnt get into vaping to save money, I started vaping to quit smoking. I have got more involved in it over the last year I have been vaping, and went from using an analog alike to a vision spinner, to a ZMAX v3, now I just wrapped up building a 120 watt Raptor mod, its a very fun hobby that also helps me to stay more healthy than if I still smoked ciggs. All the best and welcome.

i am quite new to vaping and am open to the thought of finally giving up the cigarette.
i have only been vaping for 2 weeks and have discovered that i have given up on one addiction for another.
i've done ALOT of homework on everything from devices to juice and everything in between.
i figured that instead of buying and ego-t or something similar, knowing that i would quickly outgrow it, i jumped in with both feet and purchased an Innokin itaste VTR.
also got multiple "tanks" and a variety of juices.
as Innokin says "Taste it/love it". and i did
i think this is gonna become a bad habit. LOL. today i just purchased a Vamo V2..
uhh ohh,,here we go.
i hope to keep learning and thats why i registered on this site.
keep up the good work
and keep on vaping
:vapor:

I wouldn't worry about it being another bad habit, when I switched I had serious health issues from smoking that have now vanished, and there's a LOT more money in my bank account. My guy and I were spending $500 a month on cigs before we switched to vaping, now we spend about $40 a month total on vaping. I make our juice and maintain our mechs and RBA's on that. We really don't need anything from the B&M's anymore, so I see it as a good habit :)

Got really jealous of my friend today. I offered her some juice I am not fond of, she said anything would be fine, she's completely OUT of juice. Only 2 1/2 months in and I could never be "out" of juice. I have plenty of 1/2 full bottles! I'm a juice junky. I keep buying bottles to try new stuff. Wish I didn't have such an addictive personality!

So far, the only thing this has hurt is my bank account, like others have said. I'm usually broke anyway, so I'm just happy I'm not smoking!

The worst is that I have some very yucky juices I bought without trying... glad I know better now!
